American Full-Size SUVs seem completely pointless. They're as long & cumbersome as Full Size Vans without having the cargo space of Full Size Vans.An SUV is supposed to give you slightly less cargo space & slightly worse gas mileage vs. a minivan in exchange for offroad capability & greater ground clearance. A 7 Seat Land Cruiser or 7 Seat Land Rover is a proper SUV.
>>29120468>A 7 Seat Land Cruiser or 7 Seat Land Roveryea, just dish out 100k for the land cruiser or 120k for the land rover range rover or buy a 7 seat suburban for half the price. the current 60k land cruiser on the american market doesn't even come with a 3rd row. the older land cruisers that did were almost 100k and probably go for nearly that much used with 100k miles on them.utility vans like transits or chevy expresses are far less comfortable unless it's a minivan. and minivans don't have proper 4WD systems.there's a reason the suburban is popular. there is no real rival to it except for the expedition. it doesn't directly compete with the land cruiser or range rover, and outsells both combined in the US market.
>>29120485The Lexus GX & Land Rover Discovery have 3rd rows.
>>29120490they also don't have better ground clearance than a high country/Z71 trim suburban. so what is even the point.
>>29120502They can actually go offroad.
>>29120468Suburban is sexo
>>29120536so can the suburban.
>>29120468Why do all of these new full sized suv's have this weird banana shape to them? Can't they just make a straight line?
>>29120546that's the tahoe, not the suburban.
>>29120548the Tahoe would be even better, with improved breakover angles
>>291204903 row midsizes are compromises though. You have to choose between having the 3rd row or any usable cargo space. A full size has double as much cargo space behind the 3rd row.
>>291205653 rows are always compromised, third row is always the shit row for people you dislike. if it matters, just take two cars and you'll have more flexibility
>>29120569>3 rows are always compromisedIf you're talking about SUVs, yes, but not in terms of Minivans/Vans.
>>29120553Tahoes have low-range/rear locking differentials like nissan armadas/patrols, land cruisers & land rovers. Suburbans are Tall Station Wagons, not offroad vehicles.
>>29120569You've missed the point entirely. Of course a full size 3 row SUV is a compromise. It's a compromise because "taking multiple vehicles everywhere for everything" isn't a viable option. So you compromise and get one big car with lots of space. By choosing a 3 row midsize SUV, you're compromising on what's already a compromise. How is that better?
>>29120579suburbans are long wheelbase tahoes
>>29120579The same packages are available on Suburbans, with the bonus of being able to fit 4x8 sheets of plywood behind the second row of seats when the third row is folded.
>>29120577You tried to prove this last thread. A Suburban has more third row legroom, headroom and shoulder room than a minivan. >>29120639The Suburban came first. A Tahoe is just a sawed off Suburban and they make no sense imo.
>>29120468The high ride height and heavy weight means you will win any collision. It's just safer. Do you want your children to die in a crash? Then get rid of that gook slopbox and get a real American car.
>>29120468i need the hauling and toeing capacity. Your shit little EV could never compare
>>29120682Why do americans constantly talk about how many sheets of plywood fit in their car? Why not just have a flatbed truck deliver a dozen pallets all at once?
>>29120547>Why do all of these new full sized suv's have this weird banana shape to them?aerodynamics and crash safety
>>29120784Because we don't always need multiple pallets of sheet goods??? Why would I take time off work to schedule a delivery when I can just stop by the home depot on the way home from the office? Is this why you people are so poor?
>>29120788What are you doing that you need such large panels of plywood, but only two or three of them at a time? And why specifically always individual loose but large sheets of plywood and not glass or plexiglass, rolls of sheeting, bundles of fabric, coils of wire, tanks of various sexual or non-sexual fluids, literal faggots of rods and rod-like objects, etc.?
>>29120803>>29120788>>29120784amerimutts need plywood to patch holes in their plywood shacks after getting so mad about chyna that they punch the walls (amerimutts are very fat but also quite strong and can easily pierce even imported 25mm hardwood plywood with their fists alone due to the genetic memory of Wheaties)
>>29120468>AI bot focused on (current year) modelsIts all so tiring.
>>29120808Post flag>you wont
>>29120817
>>29120803The 4x8 thing is just a real world measure of what you can fit. Were allowed to build things like sheds, garden boxes and do repairs on our houses in the free world. It's also nice to be able to take your own 90''+ TV or flat pack furniture home. You know... free world things.
>>29120854how shit is your shed that you are building them routinely? what kind of shit ass store are you buying your tv from that it doesnt offer delivery and installation?>garden boxesbut that is what faggots of 8x8s are for???
>>29120854>It's also nice to be able to take your own 90''+ TV or flat pack furniture home.that's not plywood. americans ALWAYS measure cars in plywood. post your hands NOW
>>29120861Yes we do use plywood as a measurement because everybody knows how big a 4x8 sheet of plywood is and can use that as a reference as to what they can actually haul. It would be like you guys using a prayer rug as a measurement.
>>29120865>everybody knows how big a 4x8 sheet of plywood isbut presumably that would be the same as a 4x8 sheet of plexiglass, rolled aluminum, sheet rock, etc.? why always specifically plywood of unspecified thickness?
>>29120868Because a sheet of plywood is a pretty fucking common good? Is plywood illegal where you live or something? Why would the thickness matter? it could be one cunthair thick or it could be 6' thick. Neither are relevant if they're 4x8 and can't fit in your vehicle.
>>29120468>Full Size VansThose don't exist anymore.>without having the cargo space of Full Size Vans.Neither do conversion vans.>in exchange for offroad capability & greater ground clearanceNobody but autistic rednecks cares about that shit.People want them because they're big fucking cars that are "comfortable". No more, no less. "But it's s-supposed to b-be" guess you better update your definitions then, grandpa retard. World waits for no one.
>>29120546No, they haven't been able to go off-road in a long time. Since the GMT800 days.
>>29120877i could fit more cunthair thick plywood in my car than i could 1/2inch plywood assuming it is the standard 4x8 Board one would think volume rather than area is the more important metric, especially since building things out of plywood sheets of that size is rare enough that realistically i would probably prefer to have a large volume of them delivered by a larger truck than i would care to own, or i am engaged in crafts or cottage industry where narrower boards or square beams would be preferableare american sheds just so shit that they fall down every day so every american needs a constant stream of 4x8 boards to rebuild the sheds they live in?
>>29120893>metricFUCK OFF
>>29120468A Benz long sprinter van you European are obsessed with, both equally terrible at what they do are longer than American full size SUV's.

>>29120774the Tahoe is just a 4 door Blazer. the Blazer was just a Jeep CJ competitor.
turdies and eurotrash (I repeat myself) always argue like hysterical women. playing semantics games and pretending to not understand basic concepts. utterly repulsive behaviour

>>29126865>small twig comes in contact with suspension>minor computer fault>entire vehicle crippledthere is an entire industry devoted to ripping those awful airbag suspensions out of them and replacing them with coils.
>>29126864Imaging having that type of van during the 80s or 90s? Parking it alongside some isolated road near the river and blowing your 80s girlfriend with her hairy bush? I think about it alot.
>>29127024The squarebody Blazers were half ton truck based before moving to the S10 truck chassis. Neither were built to compete with a Jeep.
>>29127037they were explicitly meant to be a Jeep competitor made on the cheap by using the half ton truck chassis rather than a bespoke chassis like Ford had done with the original Bronco. the Blazer was so much more successful than the Bronco that Ford abandoned the unique platform for the second gen and adopted the Blazer strategy of just putting a custom body on the F100 chassis. the S10 Blazer was built alongside the K5 for a long time. when the Blazer name got replaced with the Tahoe in 1996, they kept building the S10 Blazer before eventually renaming it to TrailBlazer when it moved to the Colorado platform.v
>>29127037the early 2 door Tahoes were sold as Blazers, before switching to the Tahoe name in 1995, for reference.
>>29127043Defender is meant to compete with the Wrangler a la the Bronco.

>>29120883Really popular in the Church crowd with a lot of kids is a 15 seater van with the rear 3 seats removed. Chevy is pretty much king with this crowd in my area. >five plus kids12 or 15 seat express van with rear bench out, depending on how many children you ultimately want. usually you want room for at least one set of grandparents, so the 15 seater with the rear bench out is good for up to eight kids. Five or six kids is the most common with the fecund youth in my diocese. >four kids or lessThree row chevy is the most popular. The suburban is decently common, very comfortable, great cargo space for sports and costco, but we're not the most wealthy area, so used chevy traverse's dominate. I have four kids, it's what I drive also. The japanese minivans retain their value way better so they're harder to afford. Unfortunately it means we can only bring along one grandparents, but my parents live kind of far away and my father in law still works, so my mother in law is usually the only one available anyway. So they're not completely pointless. They're just not for the childless.
>>29120788>work in an officehave to "take time off work" for a deliveryfix your life.
>>29129975Chevy won't update them, because they're not that profitable in the US market alone. Dodge uses a rebadged Fiat Ducato & Ford bases the Transit on its European model.
>>29120808>makes fun of Americans>uses mmRent fucking free
>>29132239I dont think they need to be updated. They're perfectly functional vehicles.
>>29120803A 4x8 sheet is the largest item a homeowner can reasonably expect to carry.>yeah but when though?Just this year, I needed:>drywall for my bathroom walls>plywood for the bathroom subfloor>paneling for a retro hallway>play wood for my gym subfloorThat’s just stuff that comes in sheets.
>>29133936But it would have cost you eighty dollars to rent the home depot pickup four times. If you're doing a cost of ownership analysis on cars, the winner is almost always the smallest new car you can get a low interest low on that your whole family can fit in at once.
>>29128434you can literally see the 'Blazer' badge on the tailgate. retard.
>>29135599I see it now, yes.
>>29134105>the winner is almost always the smallest new car you can get a low interest low on that your whole family can fit in at onceright on the size, wrong on the "new"you're better off with a used one. at least if its somewhat reliable and maintainable.let some1 else take that initial depreciation hit bros. new car smell is nice, but its not worth several grand
>>29134105>>29135599>low interest low onAssuming you meant loan here, and worrying about the interest rate over the purchase price is retarded. You need to take into account the whole deal; I just bought my wife a used Expedition and while the interest rate is almost 9% the purchase price was under $20k. Buying a newer one we could've had a rate a little over 5% (what the credit union was advertising) but the purchase price would've been about $40k. Overall we'd have paid slightly more interest in total, and way more for car.The one we have already meets our needs and makes her happy, so spending more money would have been silly.
