    >dedicated bomber hunter
    >crew of 5: pilot, gunner, radio operator and two loaders
    >primary weapon is 37mm autocannons, one in each wing pod
    >gunner sits behind the pilot and aims the cannons with a compensating gunsight
    >loader in each pod, who's primary duty is to reload the cannons but can use them manually if required
    >defensive waist mounted .50 cals for the radio operator if intercepted
All of this was pretty ambitious for a late 1930s aircraft, had it worked. The issues with it included:
    >slow as fuck, can't catch any modern bombers
    >engines overheat incredibly easy, has to be towed to the runway
    >most systems run off an APU, which if it fails causes the loss of nearly everything on board the aircraft, including the engines
    >also essentially incapable of single-engine flight, lmao
    >pilot has to shut down and feather props for loader to have any chance of surviving a bail out
    >handles like shit
Despite all this a handful were in service with the US during WWII, although they never served in any combat role and were quickly retired

XFV-12 VTOL aircraft, meant to be better than the Harrier. After Rockwell built the first prototype, they found they overestimated the predicted engine thrust. It could not do any vertical takeoff and the project was abandoned.
Built using A-4 and F-4 parts.

People just don't like road bikes and want stuff they can bring on public transit. No one offroads on these things
    >>
    >>2083389
i dont think thats true and actually it's some kind of psyop. no one folds these things and most public transit doesnt allow bikes directly onboard in favor of the giant rack thing on the front. (or on the train theres usually a spot to hang it up)

folding bikes are already a huge meme, making them downhill-styled is clearly some kind of marketing trick

    normalfags like features features features
they don't know or care about bikes, they want one bike to do everything, and if it folds you can put it in the trunk of your suv and go to the woods where you'll ride it for a couple km and never do it again because the bike sucks

not to white knight for a defense company that clearly didnt know what the fuck it was doing for the last few years of its life, but this is a situation where it took two to tango.

by the late 80s early 90s the DoD had clearly gotten too used to giant budgets and infinite good will from congress. the program was a mess with changing requirements and downright delusional ideas of what they wanted from it.

McD also shares the blame though, as everyone is aware of. they had a history of way over promising on features that few or no one asked for to try and sweeten deals and give out equally delusional timeframes and budget expectations. this also killed their JSF (future F-35) program submission and even torpedoed their relationship with American Airlines when they did this with the MD-11. they dont get enough blame with the MD-11 honestly. everyone blames trijets for its downfall, but its pretty clear that they way McD was running that show killed it despite having a product that made sense in certain areas. now THAT plane's development was a real shitshow.
