Major problem with EVs:>gasoline tanker trucks have a legal max limit>EV semis are heavier>this means EV semis will have to carry less gasoline>when everyone switches to EVs, more trips will have to be made to transport the same amount of gasolineHas anyone thought about this? It will significantly increase gas prices.
If only there were an effective way to transfer energy by wire.
>>2082990Silly anon, wire pipelines can only transfer drops of gasoline at a time.
>>2082990>>2083015we should replace all electric wires with thin hoses that carry gasoline
americans seriously unironically itt stumbling upon the concepts of "pipes" and "wires" after around a century of having no contact with any scientific or engineering practices
>>2083149pipes are what you smoke weed out of bro of course we know what they are lmao
>>2083149 #To be fair the trucks are important for fine grained distribution, they are the spokes to the hubs of pipelinesIn general terms our failure as a civilization to reduce our resource wastage and allocate our efforts not for the sake of billionaire and corporate parasites will lead to a physical limit being imposed on us by reality where greed and brainpess capitalist ideology and the indolent arrogance of political "leaders" have sought to ignore the physical constraints of our planet and trajectory. The time to have averted significantly worse outcomes for the billions of us on this planet have passed, it was a few precious decades of opportunity.I hope hell exists, I will torture, rape and murder bush senior and everyone like him there for eternity.
>>2083149The US has tons of pipelines. Most people simply never have cause to think about them unless one ruptures.
>>2082927"when everyone switches to EVs", well then not as much gasoline will be needed, will it?
>>2082927What is crazy is people think switching to evs is the answer knowing that the you need more batteries due to less energy. So now when we need to replace our ev batteries, we have to do this more often and need more ev semis to haul fully charged batteries. This is why hydrogen is the future. More hydrogen = less weight since it has negative weight = transporting more hydrogen in each semi.
>>2083242Hydrogen is just a trick in order to have the same dependency on centralized fuel generation and a way to tax specifically vehicles. Electric based transportation can't be easily taxed, and you can generate energy through a variety of means. It breaks the monopoly.
>>2082990Then all trucks would have to run by the wire. There would be a long line of them trying to share the wire. Then we would need to put them in a separate road just for them...
>>2083383Just use fiber optic wire like they do in Ukraine.
>>2083386light powered cars will be the next big thing
>>2082990The reason why trucks took over a lot of railroad's duty is they're more flexible in where they can go, how they can unload, and so on.There's a reason why a lot of the spurs going to non-specialized warehouses and other businesses have vanished, along with boxcars starting to become an endangered species.
>>2083238the gasoline will be needed to run the generators at the EV charging stations
>>2083841Solar panels don't need gasoline.
>>2083842they also don't make enough energy in 24 hours to charge a small flashlight
>>2083845A gas generator produces 12kW of power, or 288kWh per day if running 24/7.Tesla's Lost Hills supercharger has 11,000kW of solar panels that produce 55,000 kWh per day
>>2083845As of 2026, solar is responsible for the majority of Texas' electric grid because solar is actually more economical than gas at this scale
>>2083849>As of 2026, solar is responsible for the majority of Texas' electric gridAm I missing something? Looks like gas is doing most of the work for ERCOT
>>2083852Maybe he was thinking of California. The gap should have closed this year.https://www.energy.ca.gov/data-reports/energy-almanac/california-electricity-data/electric-generation-capacity-and-energy
>>2083848>needing an entire gas station's area worth of solar panels despite being located in the sunniest place on earth is practical and sustainable
>>2083872What's so impracticable and unsustainable about it?
>>2083842At night, gasoline is burned so the light from the flames can energize the solar panels that charge EVs.
>>2083871Thanks. I'm going to think about this chart now every single time I get a flex alert (that I always ignore anyways)
