Why do they use flexi-posts in bike paths? Why not actual fixed metal ones designed to stop drivers trying to kill you?
    >>
    >>2081397
Because it's cheaper than installing actually useful protective measures
    >>
    >>2081397
It's so emergency vehicles can still utilize that part of the road in the event of...you know...a fucking emergency...
    >sorry we couldn't save your son from his easily treatable episode, we couldn't use the bike lane to weave through traffic because some urbanoid on a Native America totem pole carving forum got upset
    >>
Most of the cyclist/vehicle accidents happen at intersections anyway.
    >>
why not separate the bike path from the road completely then, and make it wide enough that emergency vehicles can use it?
    >>
    >>2081525
because then you get faggot mutts like in op's video still.
    >>
    >>2081535
proof? if the bikeway is not connected to the roadway, how does the truck get there? he hops the curb? that sounds farfetched

he thinks the truck is just going to drive over the lane divider for some reason, he might be retarded

idk why this concern troll became so popular. i live in da hood and there is a bike path. i've seen tons of emergency vehicles get stopped by traffic and not ONE has gone onto the bike lane.

in fact the last time i saw a pohleece incydent the guy went out into the opposite lane to get ahead of everybody and then wedging through perpindicularly to make a right turn instead of just going on the bike path and up the curb.

ironically it was to respond to a driver who DID cut across the bike path to cut through a parking lot during a traffic jam, striking a brown(forma de hispanique, not a jeet) riding an e-scooter in the process

i would like to see an actual first party source from any emergency service department that they take bike paths with full-size vehicles, let alone actually do so

it's cute how cyclists think them riding around their child's hobby toy warrants major infrastructure changes around it

calling it a child's hobby toy only emphasizes how important it is that we support it with major infrastructure. if children can safely and comfortably get around their community, then everyone can. this is a massive benefit in every way to every person who lives there. it also means less traffic and more revenue for local businesses. there isn't a single downside to spending money on major infrastructure to enable children to safely and comfortably get around.

    Because cyclists are idiots.
    >>

why did you link an article about a case where the cyclist was not at fault?

    >we should use flexible plastic posts so that cyclists failing to maintain their lane will cross into the path of moving cars instead of potentially colliding with a bollard
    >>
    >>2081617
if anything in da hood emergency vehicles would feel more urgency and hop into the bike lane so that thug niggas don't rob them for anesthetic, sick helmets, or ammunition whilst they are stuck in gridlock
    >>
    >>2081525
my city did this but not on purpose. the paved "trail" i use most often is juuuuust wide enough for a trugg for maintenance reasons since it is separated from the road by not just natural features but also ~!!!!~PRIVATE PROPERTY~!!!!~

an amberlamps could conceivably take it if it had to, since the gates onto and off it are just pop-out bollards or swing fence gates where it does interact with the normal road system. it would probably be way slower though
    >>
    >>2081397
the metal posts aren’t going to stop the car anyway
    >>
Cyclicucks are usually always in the wrong in traffic
    >>
    >>2082110
i've never seen a cyclist do anything wrong or unexpected, but i have seen plenty of drivers break the law and swerve in unexpected ways and kill entire families
so basically the exact opposite of what you said must be true
    >>
    >>2081564
You never had a point, niggerbrain
    >>
    >>2082142
i have seen cyclists do as much dumb shit as roadies, but pedestrians truly are the dumbest of all worlds. and YOU JUST KNOW that every time you encounter an utterly retarded pedestrian, they definitely drive a lifted F150 with a Kona permanently seized to the rear bike rack they installed to not scratch up the bed
    >>
    >>2081895
you'd be wrong. Cities allocate funding based on expected property value, they aren't going to make emergency services more urgent in areas where there's nobody to impress, hence the poverty cycle never ends. Its just the way it is son
    >>
    >>2082245
    Based and deserved
    >>
    >>2082245
i wasnt talking about funding though, i was talking about willingness of an individual officer to run over a flexipost. even in da hood police occasionally exist. otherwise we wouldnt have so many hilarious Suspect Decentralization videos
    >>
    >>2081397
    >Why do they use flexi-posts in bike paths?
Besides the need to allow emergency vehicles to move if the road is blocked, the presence of hard metal posts would cause serious injury accidents to the bicyclists who are NOT inside of a nice automobile that protects passengers' legs from being scraped by a metal post.
    >>
    >>2082142
    >i've never seen a cyclist do anything wrong or unexpected
Hilarious. I've seen them blow through lights many times, even when it's separate lights just for the cycle lane, I've seen them riding in the cycle lane that's clearly marked for cycles going in the other direction and much more. Seen it in a bunch of countries as well. I figured they'd be better in Holland where there's a massive culture around cycling - nope, they're even worse there.
    >>
    >>2082173
Also, you've personally witnessed multiple fatal traffic collisions? Doubtful.

But do the bikers put their shoulder down and shove the pedestrian out of the way?
