Say that everyone on a commercial jet gets knocked out, except for one passenger. Can a person with zero flight experience land it if they're guided by air traffic control?

I assume you know about Helios 522
anyways a few jewtubers have done experiments like this, the consensus is generally yes assuming a functional autopilot. considering the nature of survivability in plane crashes, any remotely guided landing has a better chance of at least having some survivors vs what would happen if fuel exhaustion ran its natural course

the conclusion that seems to come up for these scenarios is that their biggest hurdles are going to be accessing the cockpit and working the radio. if they can figure that out they can probably be talked down.

Found interesting wiki article on the subject

how is the cockpit locked usually i know it locks from the inside but is there a way to bypass it from inside the cabin
like in a scenario like german wings flight 9525 for example

there was a mythbusters episode on this and the answer is probably yes depending on the plane and if you dont panic

Pilots are overpaid 3D bus drivers.

modern planes have autolanding but the person onboard has to call for instructions

if you can't breach an airplane door with no around to stop you and the entire rest of the plane's worth of tools, skill issue

    >everyone on a commercial jet gets knocked out, except for one passenger
Passenger CANNOT access cockpit due to armored door.

Updated federal regulations (such as FAA 14 CFR 25.795) require flight deck doors to withstand extreme force and to have no single point of failure such as a single latch point. Opening methods that work on houses or businesses such as crowbar, gunfire, and a reasonable amount of explosives do not work on the updated cockpit doors.

However, flight attendants have an emergency code they can enter on the numeric keypad. As long as the pilot has not set the cockpit lock to "DENY", the door latches will be electronically unlatched for a brief amount of time after a 30second to one minute delay. So the lone passenger will need to wake up a flight attendant to get the code.

i could land it even without assistance

You DO have to know how to tell it to do that.
Pic could blind land back in the sixties.

Bold of you to presume this is an American aircraft

If both pilots are incapacitated, there is a way to get into the cockpit without them needing to unlock the door. However, German Wings had a hostile pilot, so that flight was fugged. FlyDubai also was almost fugged for a similar reason but, as the story goes, the captain was able to open the door.

James May has a book about this, he also says yes so long as autopilot works.

tell who to do what? i just said i can do it myself, which i can, with no training even.
    >>
No, all the experiments of this were done in a simulator. Passengers wouldnt be able to handle the pressure to do it while in the air

Someone in the uk actually made that test with an helicopter and a guy with only game simulator experience was able to fly the copter, so yeah, maybe, helicopters are more complicated to control than planes, but an airliner is a whole different animal.
