    usecase?
realistic reliability and chances of failure?
    >>
they are extremely reliable but they are for advanced users and the stock shifter sucks

I would venture to guess he means they're overkill for most people.
    >>
I've got with probably over 100k mileage at this point. No issues whatsoever.
    >>
    >>2079095
Fair. But then again if you have the money why not just buy nice things.
    >>2079097
Same on a SG-C3001-7 so mhm
    >>
    >>2079120
oh sorry correction, I got more than 100k km on it, not miles as mileage might imply

Apparently reliable, met 2 separate people on the same tour where something stupid happened and theirs broke. Minimum 1 week of waiting time to get replacement parts within Europe.

I'm sure they are very reliable, and can easily be retrofitted to any bicycle, granted it's chain only. Maybe one day I will try it out, when I live out in the country side and don't freak out about theft.

I'm all for this. Overkill is fun sometimes.

op here, this is all i needed to know. if two broke on the same tour, then it is not fucking reliable, and the whole reliability marketing is just a scam.

might be good for stocked trout and bluegills, not much else

a beastly rohloff? you're better off with a good solid ultralight Shimano ultegra
    >>
    >>2079295
I was once talking about shimano with a friend and we both kept getting confused wtf the other one was talking about until we took a moment to figure out he was talking about fishing and I was talking about bikes

    >can easily be reteofitted
    >chain only
If you go to the lengths of retrofitting one of those to *any* existing bike and even call doing so easy, then I don't see what stops you from putting a closed loop belt in too.
Anything can be retrofitted if it can otherwise be made. It's just that at some point it's not economical as the effort rivals complete manufacture from scratch. It's like replacing seat tubes. I can do that. But usually I would not.
    Also belts that split exist.

They'll mail you a new one

100% but the boomers who buy them don't ride enough to find out

    I... kind of like this?
    >>
    >>2079147
if they'd just make something to mount it on the front end of the hood, it'd actually be nice. they make ones like that for old downtube shift levers, so it obviously can be done
    >>
    >>2083192
The biggest problem is that it uses two cables to shift gears
    >>
    >>2083197
I always thought that you could totally have two trigger type levers one left and one right wherw when you push one the other is pulled and vice-versa unless I am mistaken about how shifting goes on in the hub itselt.
Is it so that you need the ends of the cable(s ?) going into the hub/gearbox where then one will grow and one will shrink?
If so my idea is useless trash because I assume that a loop of wire goes into the gearbox rather than the ends of the cable(s ?)
