How do people motivate themselves?
There are so many things I wanna do, so many projects, artworks, new things I wanna try.
But I can never seem to get motivated to do anything at all. I just feel exausted, drained, and depressed...
So what do you do to motivate yourself?

Do you mean in life or just for Pony?

Sex.

Sorry that's not the answer you want to hear, but it's true.

>>43667526
I'm motivated by knowing that my simple existence brings suffering to the people I despise.
Take your pic's "artist", for example: ZippySqrl, AKA Smoldix, AKA artist:dontworryaboutitkid
A massive coward who constantly bitches and moans about living in the UK, using it as an excuse to try and hide all his foalcon because MUH THOUGHT CRIME yet doing nothing to actually get out of there or improve his skills. His work has stagnated for over a decade and the most he can muster is two SPH pics a year.

>motivation
you have to just do it anon, if you keep waiting for motivation it will never happen.
Motivation comes from accomplishment and progress, which will drive you further and further, but to start out it's just a lot of hard work. Start NOW! This very moment!

idk I just gave up lmao.
Making things is only fun if you're actually good at doing said thing.

This anon is correct and offers the hardest lesson learned.

>There are so many things I wanna do
>... except I don't wanna do them
>>
>>43667584
TL;DR for OP, you have to force yourself to do it at first. Be proud of yourself for doing it in the first place. Realize that you can do it and do more of it.
>>
>>43667549
Honestly, this is the best answer.
>>
>>43667526
Get ADHD medication.
If that doesn't work it means you're just an ideas guy.
>>
>>43667688
Not OP but I've had diagnosed ADHD since like 5 and the meds stopped working when I went to college, hilariously. Ever since then I've basically just forced myself to work at the last minute and for the most part it's worked out. It really is about forcing yourself to do it. Whether it's exercise or writing or even and may God forbid me for uttering this word, socializing.

>I just feel exausted, drained, and depressed
You could just be tired and need to rest more than usual, but it could also be mental illness. Either way, this is what has helped me.
>Reducing stress
stress has a nasty way of making your brain tired. For me, a lot of it came from work, family issues, and negative self-talk. Thankfully, I've able to work on those 3 areas.
>Rest
Has also helped. I try to make sure I get 11 hours in bed, since it takes me about an hour to actually go to sleep. I find that thinking about my pony wife and the adventures we would go on together helps me feel at peace.
>Belief
I find what helps me the most is adopting a mindset that helps me believe what I am doing matters. For example, I have the belief that as humans, we have an innate ability to create beauty. Nothing else on this earth can create what we have, and we are inheritors of that legacy. As such, I believe I am obligated to try and create something and share it with my fellows. Even the worst of art has that essance, that sovl, that makes life have meaning. Remember that believing in something takes time, but if you're able to remind yourself over and over again, you will come to believe it yourself. I'm sorry if that sounded schizo, but this has helped me create, no matter how bad the end product is or how tired I may feel.

I hope this helps, Anon.

I found that it became way easier to do creative stuff after I mostly stopped playing video games and using Discord (since I had a habit of checking it every five seconds when I was bored).

I've relapsed a bit since then and I need to get back on track, but leaving behind overstimulating activities and resetting my brain absolutely worked wonders for my motivation and my mood in general. Doing creative stuff felt way more fun amd engaging rather than feeling like a chore or an obligation.

All of my projects can be traced back to jerking off or have it as a goal

Amphetamines.
Gets you right out of bed and straight into whatever you think you should be doing.

I've been trying to force myself to do things, but have little success... I've only managed a doodle every now and then.
And a lot of the time I gotta do drugs/booze just to get that much.
>>43667801
Yeah, I do usually average about 3-5 hours per night. Ive tried going to bed earlier, but it usually just causes me to wake up before my alarm goes off. No idea how anyone could manage 11...
The believing part is even harder.. I've tried to tell myself that it'll make people happy, and bring more positivity to the world, but shit keeps getting worse, and it seems like I make no difference at all. Not to mention the assholes who just want to tear down anything good, to "prove" that it actually is bad, or just to destroy it in general...
I know that if I can just get some of my bigger projects going, people would love it, the problem is just getting there...

This is something I've been struggling with for a while.. my entire house is a disaster, and trying to tackle it is so daunting... I think I just gotta pack everything up and put it in storage, so I can slowly bring it back into my house in a more organized way... and probably throw a bunch of shit out that I don't need... but that's a project in itself. >>43668861
Social media is definitely a poison... it'd be better if it was just cute ponies and marewives, but a lot of shit is designed to piss you off and ruin your mood. FB was especially bad, and I ended up leaving that platform entirely.
Though, it's hard when everyone you talk to (the incredibly few that do anyway) are only online. And people local to me are complete dogshit humans who I can't stand even breathing around me..
As for games, I'm usually not even motivated enough to do that... I've got several games that I've never even played.

Maybe I should just get high and drunk more often? Perhaps take a shot as soon as I get home from work, so I might alleviate my stress more quickly? A lot of tomes it'll take hours to calm myself down, if I manage to at all. And, of course, I'm usually just exhausted afterwards... being constantly angry is so fucking exhausting.

This is the most poignant post if you think about it. OP has that "i wish i wanted to..." mindset. It stems from the same mindset as "i really should..."

You can't force it. And if you think you want it but aren't making it happen in some way. You just want the idea of it. Or the finish line and not the process. Which is the same as not wanting it.

Lift weights every day, eat meat, and consume caffeine. Then you just have to try the things and know that your early attempts will be kinda shitty.

I got the career I wanted and moved hemispheres go get into horses harder. I just make sure I get at least eight and a half hours sleep and still have unlimited stamina. I had to trick myself that deadlines were a week early so I had a really good draft by submission time in uni. I treat my mind brain as me piloting a creature that doesn't want to do things so I find ways to make it do them and it feels like little wins.

Dificult to answer sice I don't know the specifics of your life or you personally.
What's worked for me is to power through misery and despair, cary on with whatever Im working at even if I don;t see the point.
I found god in my own way which answered a lot of why's in my life
There is a future, now is temporary, things can be better if you try even a little day by day.
Hope that helps.
