Welcome to the beginning of the 2026 Princess /mlp/ pageant, where your favorite ladies from across all aspects of the franchise be it canon, fandom, or memery are judged and selected for who is most deserving of being crowned board royalty.I hope everyone is looking forward for yet another chance for their contestant of choice to win the coveted 'Jackie'. For those unfamiliar with this thread, this is our equivalent to the 'Ms. /co/' and 'Queen /v/' competitions, a voting tournament for /mlp/ to find the lucky girl worthy of being called the princess of the board. Last year, our 2025 winner was the pretty peppy perky professional party pony herself, PINKIE PIE, who took the win in the Finals against that fellow enthusiast of healthy smiles, Minuette. But who among these lucky fillies will have their turn to bask in the spotlight this year?We are now taking nominations for entrants! At present, the rules for entry are:1. Your character must obviously be female or if their gender is unconfirmed, obviously coded female.2. GR15 applies to them. This includes:-Any and all ladies who appear in an official MLP product licensed by Hasbro, which includes all of the main show 'Friendship is Magic', any of the G5 series/specials/film, Equestria Girls, the Movie, Pony Life, the IDW comics, the manga, the chapter books, and so forth.-MLP OC's are also permitted, be they oc's representing the staff, popular fanfic OC's such as Little Pip from FoE, or fandom creations like Tracy or Milky-Characters from /mlp/ exclusive shows such as Filly Funtasia or Them's Fighting Herds-Ponies from previous Gens before G4In short: if it would get you a ban if you posted it anywhere but /mlp/, it's probably eligible. There may be a few gray areas here and there so if you feel like something should or shouldn't qualify, feel free to speak up.2b. Characters who are not banned on other boards but have significant enough board presence on /mlp/ or memes associated with the fandom may be allowed. If you think such a character qualifies, please offer an explanation in your post as to why.3. Alternate versions of characters (ie 'Mean' Twilight, 'Tree' Twilight, Sci-Twi, Pinkamena, etc) may be nominated, but they may only participate in the tournament if they score more points than their original counterpart during the Qualifier round. Otherwise, no more alternates may proceed if their original has more votes in Qualifiers.3b. Exceptions can and will be made for certain alternates deemed distinct or unique enough from the original to qualify as their own character. A second part of the Qualifier poll will be added to include all alternates suggested with a simple 'Yes/No' vote whether to make them verified alternates or not, and those that are verified will be able to proceed to the tournament even if they do not succeed their original in votes.

There was also a lot of support for experimenting with the format of Miss /mlp/, namely in the Loser's Bracket we'll be trying out this year, and those are easier to field test with the normal 128 rather than 256.2. It was a bit too much for me to handle personally. 256 entries meant double the initial work on making all the match-ups on the forms, uploading all the images, and especially the bracket image / challonge bracket.However, after this year it is something I feel ready to try out again: new scripts have been found that will allow me to add images programmatically for the forms (I've been using scripts to fill out names in the match-ups but images previously had to be done manually) that I think will streamline all future endeavors a great deal. In addition to that, AI has advanced far enough that I can actually feed ChatGPT the file I use for editing the bracket image and I can tell it what order they should go into, and it will do several hours worth of work for me. I'm needing to review it to make sure it's accurate, but with these two cutting down the time for both the forms and the brackets, if popular opinion demands it, expect a return of the 256 bracket and at the risk of my own sanity, maybe even further. Though first we'd have to make it past 300 nominations which is our usual ceiling.
