After 205 days and 19 hours it's over.
I'm surprised the replay is functional, but it is - and the most interesting thing is how our auras disappear part way through, then reappear for a moment and disappear again. Perplexing! Anyway well done to all the jiggers who helped chip away at this thing even if it was just a few pieces.

I only did, like, one or two dozen pieces.. I am stunned by that one anon who did basically the entire last 20%.

yeah uhhh the like 75 to 95 percent wasnt great it was good detail but a lot of the puzzle was still missing and it was all the same shade so it took like a minute per piece then the last 5 percent was just absolute vantablack pieces and trying to pick out what i assume was single digit color values with monitor on peak brightness in a dark room, i was thinking about getting more jiggers to have a more celebratory ending but the puzzling wasnt that enjoyable and i also sometimes like jigging alone so i hope you dont mind. i can do a long recording probably, ive never done it but i can probably just leave my pc running overnight, how long do you want it? also idk what the "largest dimension" is, what value should that be?

The last long recording was 5 minutes, I doubt anyone would want to watch longer than that anyway. Largest dimension sets the resolution of the recording I'd probably just leave it at 1000. You need to right click and save the webm after it generates.

My theory on the auras is the recording still remembers who was touching what pieces, whoever joined in the puzzle before auras were removed kept theirs while other puzzlers weren't given them. The burst of colour around 3:15 definitely corresponds to when a bunch of us jumped on to do a couple percent after leaving the puzzle alone for months.

Nevermind! I was able to modify the square pattern code and now it looks pretty much like the old voronoi did. Anyone else who wants to do the same, select square pattern, then custom code and edit lines 14 and 15, replace the static value of 0.5 with Math.random() and boom, evenly distributed randomness just like it used to be.

Puzzlepity could’ve shone brighter on us on that endeavor, especially in the brown parts. The lights in the game room were too dark to tell the difference between different shades of brown, the green was a bit easier, but also not great for the same reason. The snowpity did make up for this though, these fair mares are quite cute. It’s just a shame that the other anons didn’t break out their marepuzz kino to add to this one, but it was a great time meeting a wild jigger or two. We may have also converted an anon or two, should they be willing to accept the light of destiny that is… Jiggie.

When it comes to images, ponepaste can't host them, only embed. So we'd have to host the images somewhere, for example on some booru. IMO images are not strictly necessary since jiggie shows a preview when you paste custom code.

The main difference compared to true random distribution is the size of the pieces is more consistent, so you don't end up with really big pieces mixed with really small ones. The degree of constraint can also be changed to create an irregular square pattern, so it's like two patterns in one. The values I tested were:
0.00 - old voronoi style / organic grid
0.15 - marginally more regular
0.25 - hybrid between voronoi and square
0.35 - irregular squares

I pretty much agree it's not a priority, I've already checked all the patterns that way so it wouldn't be much use to me specifically. I just like the idea of having a visual catalog if we manage to accumulate a lot of patterns, for anyone new coming in checking them all one by one could be a pain. I'd wait for feedback on this, if nobody else cares for it then there's not much point in putting in the effort other than for the sake of vanity. The most important thing is having the codes themselves be accessible to anyone who wants to use them.
