And obviously they're gonna make female Red Ranger

    Yeah that sucks.
Judging from >>24052820's possible looks, it's another case of "we can't write women so we'll make her like a man".

Thank god this shit never happened.

I am actually baffled that, despite the very obvious 'girlboss' stereotype that the face indicates, she is still drawn one head smaller than Blue and Green. Guess they had someone specific in mind?

Ah yes, of course. When I think red ranger the first thing that comes to my mind is livestock.

How do you avoid writing a woman like a man? What are the women things you need to have her do as a woman to not be a man? Unironically I want to avoid writing my female lead like a man, as a man.

If you have to ask you probably don't need to worry about it in the first place. It's something you have to try to do.
    >>
    >>24052817
Probably because it felt like an AI rush job. They NEVER had any concept designs finished at all, that this is just how the designers imagined it through AI.
    >>
    >>24052899
    >How do you avoid writing a woman like a man?
By spending time with actual women who aren't just butch dykes pretending to be dudes. Women are meant to have feminine qualities and thinking patterns, not "Write a male character and use an actress to depict them"
    >>
    >we need the suits to look cool like Ironman without completely ripping it off, so let's add a bit of spiderman without having a theme
    >>
It's crazy how obsessed they are with the female Red Ranger concept. That shit isn't really a big deal so most of the time it feels like the work of a woman who is still butthurt about the fact she was denied from being the red ranger for being a girl whenever her friends played to be PRs during their childhood.
    >>
    >>24052899
you write a man, then take away his reason and accountability

Teenagers with attitude today would be internet edgelords, not mainstream larpers. You can't be counterculture while toeing the mainstream.
    >>
    >>24053239
The "Teenagers with attitude" Zordon picked were the most goodie-two-shoes kids in town. Teens with attitude don't participate in or organize that many community events. It's like not like picked Bulk and Skull's crew. There's some fucking attitude for you.

Just consume older media made by women, talk to women, even talking to your mom counts if you still have one. There aren't specific things you need to do, like "she has to be a mother and she has to go shopping", just don't write Schwarznegger genderswapped.
    >>24053239

On one hand, having a trio of red, blue, and green to start of with is a good sign that Netflix wasn't completely tied to MMPR. On the other, all these designs suck even more than the 2017 movie's.
    >>
    >>24053357
They only seem that way because shit was much better in general in the 90s. That skater kid who otherwise was well behaved and got decent if not exceptional grades was a "delinquent".

I think that would very much count as having an attitude.
    >>

Things weren't better in the 90s. You just never heard of the bad kids because they were already expelled or fucking dead and there was no internet to broadcast their funerals.

They were better, you have to be outside of your mind or too young to have been alive back then to think otherwise.

Every goddamn Hollywood design gets so over complicated it becomes a bland mush. Every fucking one. Why can't they just respect a clean line and crisp silhouette? Like I'm not expecting great things from the Gundam movie, but at least Japan seems to be tardrangling the visual stuff by doing the designs themselves.
    >>
    >>24053595
Everyone wants to be marvel. That's really it. They saw marvel make big bucks a decade ago and are still trying to emulate it.
    >>
    >>24053597
Thing is this shit started with at least the Transformers films, which predate Marvel by a smidge. And Marvel had relatively clean designs for a good long stretch. Iron-Man and Cap were fairly clean. I'm not even sure it's fair to say they've totally lost it. They avoided turning Spider-Man into a mess, and you damn well know some idiot wanted to.

I mean a bit, recent Wanda costumes are over complicated. And I'm sure a few more that don't spring to mind.
    >>
    >>24053597
    >Everyone wants to be marvel.
It's not even Marvel though. Marvel never used these weird techno-organic designs they've been trying for the two "mature" Power Rangers debuts. The suits are more complex than in the comics, but they're nothing like this style, nor they try to remove motifs. Captain America still had his "A" and Black Panther was obviously still Black Panther themed.

Well, Hawkeye was butchered but he's also someone that was introduced as just a supporting side character rather than a big main hero.

    >Mighty Morphin' inspired designs

    sheesh
Why are westerners so obsessed with making the lead a girl anyway?

The MCU Hawkeye is based on the Ultimate version though. That's why he has a family since the Ultimate version had one before Black Widown murdered them.

Honestly, I kind of like these. Despite the annoying Hollywood modernisms, the subtle difference in the visors show a decent understanding of the fundamentals that make PR/Sentai helmets. The slightly modified diamond across the suits is more of an American superhero team convention, but it also shows the artist understood the assignment and tried to balance it with Hollywood's obsession with costumes with basketball or raw tendon texture.

    >>24052820
Not a fan of the generic punk look, but who knows what an actual actress would look like in the role.
