Gundam 0083 makes Zeta Gundam seem dumb in retrospect. Throughout Zeta, there's this notion that the Titans are excessively brutal, but after something as cataclysmic as Operation Stardust, barely three years after the armistice that ended the OYW, you'd expect the Titans to be ten times worse.Yes, I'm aware that 0083 was made after Zeta, but still even Zeta ANT doesn't give a fuck about 0083 outside of showing a GM Quel.
>I HATE Zeon so much. So here's why we have to start using Zakus to gas colonies and consolidate political power in the hands of a few unscrupulous buffoons.
The dumbest thing about 0083 will always be that the Titans didn't already exist. The One Year War and the post armistice situation were already enough of a mess to justify their creation. They could have still been subordinate to the regular EFSF command structure at this point, but the rivalry would have already been there, visually represented by the dark GM Quel versus the white GM. Instead, 0083 went with this weird half measure where the Titans essentially exist unofficially.

Even without 0083 there should be plenty of that, but there's just almost nothing in Tomino's Gundam.IMO, the cover of the Titans actions should have been that they're doing it to supposed Zeon sympathizers/infiltrators not trying to hide they happened all. But there's just this trend where most of the population doesn't seem to hold anything against Zeon in general in spite of the entire crisis caused by the OYW. Not saying it'd be justified, but I feel like it's huge natural reaction that's just missing from UC.
>>24052760The titans did exist unofficially. 0083 was just the justification formalize their power. Reminder that half the shit in stardust was the would-be titans faction of the feddies handing delaz shit so they would have justification for their power grab.
>>24052740Good intentions are no justification for abuse of power
>>24053004Zeta already showed off that the Titans aren't really the bad guys during Dakar. You've got shitty people who are abusing their power and this is such a prevalent theme throughout UC for the EF you'd think they'd just straight up make them literal mustache twirling villains. Even the one time they showed that Zeon was winning (GQux) turns out they weren't that bad either.
>>24052920>The titans did exist unofficiallyThey should have existed officially already. Post OYW is enough of a mess to justify their creation in the first.
>>24052881>Translator's Note: The following U.C. dates are covered only in the early timeline versions from the Gundam ZZ Book and the August 1987 Newtype, and in the later version published in B-CLUB 50.>U.C.0081>Zeon remnants wage guerilla warfare in various areas.>Titans formed. Zeon remnant-hunting units are promoted to elite organization.0083 is non Tomino fan fiction crap made after Zeta, that's the problem. 0081-0087 was relatively peaceful outside of certain hotspot areas of insurgency. Hence people far away from the conflict zones feel Titans are way in over themselves policing. This entire dynamic is thrown of course with 0083's cataclysmic train wreck scenario.
>>24053123>0081-0087 was relatively peaceful outside of certain hotspot areas of insurgency. Not even counting direct deaths from the OYW, you'd have a huge economic crisis following all that. The population not having a huge radicalization against Zeon is a big off-mark in Tomino's Gundam. You'd see protests and a lot of people asking for their heads, and obviously Federation politicians would play into that to make them blame all their suffering on Zeon's actions, fomenting the flames. But none of these dynamics exist which is ridiculous considering the scale of the OYW. You don't need 0083 for the situation to be unnatural. Tomino's set up by itself does that.

Absolutely nothing about Gundam makes any sense. Not the plot. Not the setting. Not the technology. Not the robots. Not even the characters. The only thing that makes sense is that it exists to sell plastic models.
>>24053179What are some anime that do make sense?

Tomino's set up by itself does that.I don't disagree with you but after something like 0083 people would be demanding Carthage tier destruction, in that sense ultimately Titans are pretty tame in Zeta.
>>24052740>makes Zeta Gundam seem dumbAs if Zeta needed any help.
>>24052881>>24053149cause 'ZEON KILLED BILLIONS' is stupid bullshit that's not in the show. Both sides are held responsible for human population being reduced to half by the narrator. Zeon Zum Deikun's cause was valid which was hijacked by Zabis and further corrupted by Gihren. Federation fucking sucks, Spacenoids had no problem helping Char and refusing cooperation with Londo Bell, they love Mafty and consider him Char's second coming.
>>24053710Fuck off zetarager.
>>24057388Is Zeta a sacred cow now to you faggots?
>>24053119>>24052920>>24052760Tomino had intended for the AEUG to exist prior to the Titans.
