-=READ THE GUIDES=-

Welcome to the Gunpla/Plamo General!

For those new, please read our guides. We have many resources available to help you in many different aspects of the hobby. They're here for you!

For the unclear, "plamo" is short for "plastic model". "Gunpla" is thus short for "Gundam plastic model". Many different kinds of models are built here, ranging from mecha to planes, cars, musume, you name it! If you're new, you're gonna screw up. Don't worry! If you're seasoned, don't make the newbies worry!

And don't forget to report shitposting and spam. The mods don't browse /m/ too often, so it's up to YOU to help keep our general clean and civil!

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Be more specific, and try to provide clear images if you can.

>Why are my pictures sideways?
4chan strips EXIF data when images are uploaded, including the orientation tag if it's from your phone. To fix it save out your images separately, or use an app that will rotate and save the images for you.
One easy to use app that works well on Android:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplemobilephotoresizer

== STOLEN GROUPBUILD ==

Build a Mecha or vehicle built by one faction, but change its aesthetics and style to its rival faction! Examples include but are not limited to
>Canon examples of mechs being stolen and used by another group (ie: Casval's Gundam, Feddie Zakus, Ashura Mazinger, etc)
>Designs intended for one faction that were repurposed into a design for another faction (ie: Gerbera Tetra)
>What-if scenarios (ie: A Titans color Zeta Gundam)
>Stylistic interpretation (ie: What would a EFF version of the Z'gok look like?)
When it comes to your build, really make it clear that your mecha is being used by the other side!

I don't think it's worth using a zaku as a base, the main parts of the MG zaku's frame that will be visible are the joints but the perfect gundam is based on the psycho zaku MkII so the joints look quite different to the MG zaku. may as well use a frame the gundam armor already fits on if the joints are going to be inaccurate and need modifying either way.

>>
>>24046991
HG engineering reached the point where you can easily achieve great level of details on them without having to got for 1/100 scale. Bigger kits are also little more problematic to paint and, well... bigger, which pose a problem with space. Price is also noticeably higher, usually 2-3 times than your average HG kit. Personally, I don't even consider those large kits anymore due to their size and how Im already at the verge of having no space left for new kits.

i very rarely buy kits from my local store. it's not like they don't have a good selection, they have the same stuff all the online shops have in stock, just a little more expensive. seems like bandais distribution is good enough now that you can find just about anything that's been recently restocked anywhere.

It's fucking retarded how it appears in almost every game as a popular unit, and yet Bandai STILL won't make the thing, other than the gay build penguin
>>
>>24047131
There's still a decent-ish waiting list of Zeta and ZZ MS that still need kits, so I'm not surprised that the Capule hasn't gotten one yet. As for the Kapool, Bandai are allergic to Turn A in general, just an eternal hateboner for Tomino's magnum opus. Even G-Reco got an entire line plus movie versions for the G-Self. Besides, it's only really Americans that seem to like Turn A, the Elevens want more Seed slop.

>Bandai are allergic to Turn A in general, just an eternal hateboner for Tomino's magnum opus
Because the kind of people who call Turn A Tomino's magnum opus are the same kind of people who don't buy model kits and toys. When the Turn A Master Grade was released in 2007, entire piles of them ended up on sale at 70% off a few months later. Retailers had to bundle the Robot Spirits Turn A figure as a free gift for every purchase of a Metal Build Strike Freedom to get rid of them. The HGCC Turn A Gundam would never have been made if it wasn't part of the HG All Gundam Project for Build Fighters, and even then it was really only an excuse to remake it into the HGBF Turn A Gundam Shin.
Apparently there are higher ups in Bandai who worship Tomino, which is why we even get third-rate jobbers like WaD as a P-Bandai Robot Damashii figure, but even they don't have a viable financial case for any general release Turn A Gundam merch because, again, it sold like shit, sells like shit and will always sell like shit.

I bought myself a vise, for soldering, because you need three hands, one to hold the parts, one to hold the solder, one to hold the soldering iron. With model kit building, I can't think of anything you can hold with a vise that would be helpful.

maybe if you're drilling so you don't accidentally pierce the part with the drill and then your hand? but at the same time, your vise would need to basically crunch the piece to apply enough pressure that you don't accidentally push it through the vise's jaws - I have had that happen a lot on my full sized vise for stuff.
>>
>>24047832
The only vise i use is a heavy duty vise when i need to open my paint bottle.

most of the vises that toolmakers like DSPIAE or HobbyMio makes are used to hold parts to make them easier to scribe or detail paint.

a tiny little vice is pretty handy for scratch building stuff with styrene. can clamp a bunch of sheets together and file them all as one to keep them all the same and the one I have is square so I can use it to glue sheets at right angles easily. and the peg inserts are nice to hold awkwardly shaped parts tight for seam welding.

Just recently I came up with the idea of introducing some (3-4) close friends to the gundam franchise/hobby, they're not hardcore weebs but they watch anime, I think the last mecha anime we all watched together was like code geass back in 2010, every now and then we meet to grill some meat and chat at my place, I was thinking of hijacking a meeting and gift em some HG kits we could finish in an afternoon, I was thinking on getting some kits from ibo or 00 to encourage em to watch the show afterwards, so I'd like your honest opinions and recommendations:

is it a good idea?
from which show should the kits be?
should it be all same kits or different kits?

>>
>>24048057
>one or two of them might feel pressured into it because some others are enthusiastic
Figure out on you're own how easygoing or disgruntled they would be about this, I haven't met them, thankfully you can usually still chat while building gunpla though, albeit you'd need more tools and also not have nub shards going onto where there might be any present or future food
>from which show
The most entry-level ones for them if you think they'd like the shows, otherwise what you think they'd find the coolest
>is it a good idea
It sounds very fun
>same kits or different kits
Same means everyone can follow along together, different means people could trade but also that some might get left out, having like 3 of each would be nice but then you've just bought extra kits for no reason
For IBO kits I know people have found them loose, Barby was fine for me but a friend getting into gunpla hated it, haven't built 00 kits but I think it's slightly aged albeit cheap. You could buy some EG kits but the builds might be deceptively cheap compared to like, babby's first HG. Maybe briefly consider SDs as well, albeit SDEXes are hollow and need 50 stickers so not those ones
I think the safest "no need to think" option is getting a bunch of RX-78 EGs but you know your friends better than I do
>GP02

>>24048096
Is that the humble HG, how is it
I wanted to pick it up solely because it reminded me vaguely of the Mk-II (I think it's just the colours on the torso but I might just be insane) but I think the arm movement was somewhat hindered with all the other parts in the way
>>
>>24048135
That's the MG
Both the HG and MG are decent models, the Double X is a lovely design and they're good representations of it I'd personally recommend to anyone. The Master Grade really wants a stand though for its full potential.
>>
>>24048135
It's the master grade. I like it a lot. I think it's gonna get floppy though.
>>
>>24048144
The chest joint is working against the weight of the backpack in most poses so it's the only one you need to look out for. If you mount it to a stand by the backpack (there's a port there for it and the G-Falcon to plug into, rather than the waist one) it helps a lot with keeping it from sagging.
>>
>>24048145
The waist already feels less strong than I'd like with a few layers of paint on it. I can't imagine how flimsy it'd be if I snapuilt the thing.
>>
>>24048147
Mine's still holding alright since release so "no different" probably.
>>
>>24048149
It just feels like a weak joint. I think a ball joint for a waist is a bad choice when the model is so unbalanced.
>>
>now that the Zaku painting contest deadline has passed and I'm finished decide to check other people's work
Good LORD I am fucked.
>>
>>24048152
Yeah it isn't the best choice but it isn't gonna fall apart on you. The worst that happens is the chest tilts back over time if you leave the weight hanging forever.

>>
>>24048251
they painted themselves in a corner with the 3.0, it was incredibly expensive to make, and its frame and construction are shaky. It's why they branched off with MGEX which itself is not doing too great.

It's better they just make 1.5 and 2.0's of their older models while releasing a few new models every so often like they have been doing.

the Strike Freedom sells good enough that it's in constant reprint since its release in 2022. it only looked like it's flopping because they for some reason refuse to constantly reprint the MGEX Unicorn. i believe that's where they actually got themselves into a corner because they made it unecessarily expensive with its LED gimmick. it would had been the base for the MG Unicorn 2.0 if it wasnt stuck in MGEX hell.

Hello anons, I´m very new to this so maybe this are retarded questions but bear with me.Should I apply the water decals before doing a coat, or should I do a coat / water decals / coat / panel line & weathering. Also, if I apply a coat over ABS plastic can I then use panel liner freely or am I fucked nonetheless. Lastly, how much do you guys pay for your girlpla, I found a couple MD kits relatively cheap <50$ , is it an acceptable price or are the kits generally overpriced to begin with and that price should be the only real option when getting them.
>>
>>24048581
There's ton of MD kits with varied prices so you have to check their original price and do some conversions yourself, if you aren't paying for something like x1.5 or x2 of the original price then maybe it's acceptable. There's also things with unpopular kits being cheaper while rarer kits get insane markup price.
>>
Are the HG00 Exia/Exia Repairs and Dynames any good, I haven't had any 00 kits
>>
>>24048610
The 00 S1 kits are terrible because they came out right before Bandai made several major engineering improvements to the HG lines. The 00 S2 kits are acceptable.
>>
>>24048617
But but the season 1 designs look nicer
>>
>>24048581
>Should I apply the water decals before doing a coat
Generally speaking yes, but some people say that doing some light coating first to help the water solution stick better. Personally, if I really want the decals to stick, I just use some mark setter/softer. Other than that, standard plamo painting procedure order follows.

>if I apply a coat over ABS plastic can I then use panel liner freely
Coating over ABS protects it yes. But be careful, sometimes coating is applied poorly/half-assedly so stuff can seep in and fuck up the plastic. Alternatively, just use water based stuff.

>Lastly, how much do you guys pay for your girlpla
Check the original retail price at the official website of whatever kit you want. As much as possible, I try to find a deal that's close to retail price. You sometimes get lucky and find one at that price, but unless you live in Japan, then more likely than not, you're bound to pay a slight premium. I typically try to find deals that's just around 1.1 to 1.2x retail price. Worst I've ever paid for is 1.5x the retail price because I really wanted that kit and it's out of print.

>found a couple MD kits relatively cheap <50$
Yeah, that's pretty decent. Your average MD kit dances around the 6000-8000 yen price tag. If you're comfortable shelling out that level of money, then go for it.
>>
>>24048626
Then buy the MGs. Those were all made within the last seven years or so, and are quite excellent.

>old HGUC Gouf holds up well

Are there major differences between the two in terms of engineering, like, is the R35 everything the revive can do but with more shit, or the revive uniquely have like, waist rotation or a bendable heat rod
>>
>>24048652
The Revive uses a big chunk of the R35, while removing some and adding other parts to the runners. I don't think they've done anything to its articulation, just removed the R35-exclusive parts like the extra shield while adding the chassis pieces that are actually part of the classic Gouf.

Posing Girlpla when you're not making them cute or sexy is kinda hard.
I usually just end up giving them stock gundam poses when I try to make them look cool, but then I just feel like I'm playing with gunpla but with boob.

Tried playing around with more "human" action poses, and somehow, I just ended up going literally upside down. Skoll over here is supposed to be doing an upside down trickshot with her rifle. I think it looks okay? At the very least, her being posed like this way upwards actually gives allowance for another kit to sit in front of her with no obstructions.
>>
>>24048660
Then is it just less accessories and leg thrusters
Because I think the old Gouf holds up rather well, for whatever reason I wasn't expecting the "superior Zaku" to have any waist articulation, nor was the heat rod my favourite as a kid (the plain sword is a bit eh though), then am I just in good hands to just go all-in and get the R35 as the giganigga Gouf that can do anything next to the regular Gouf that handles well

There was three gundam mk.ii's, the rick dias (originally the gamma gundam) and the hyaku shiki (based on the delta gundam). You have no argument. >>
>>24049119
Its not called Mobile Suits MK2 Gundams
>>
There haven't been any new OYW Gundams for a very very long time as things really go. Sidestories haven't added new Gundams to the OYW in decades. Only Thunderbolt and Origin did that with their own continuities, and even then they're really just expanded Ground Gundams. Considering both are so fully their own take on things it kinda precludes the others.
Otherwise we're still at 78-1~7, the Ground Gundams + Blue Destiny 2/3, Pixy and Alex when you take into account compatible side story material. You can toss the Netflix Gundam on the pile if you want.
Then there's the MSV upgrade plans a number of which were only design drawings in the OYW and not produced til after the war (if at all) like FA Gundam, Heavy Gundam, Gunner Gundam etc.
The total number of RX-78-X frames has always been 8 since we got a number other than 1, and the things that fall outside this batch had its last addition (unless you count Netflix Gundam, by all means it only increases it by a single count so who cares) with 08th MS Team that did a lot of heavy retconning into its own continuity if you wanna be a diehard autist about old lore and GM rollout, but we're 30 years past that and no one cares anymore and most people buying crap grew up with it always existing for them.
>>
>>24049122
The riders are basically gundams for all intents and purposes other than the name.
>>
>>24049121
There is more than one gundam. You're obsessed with a series that at its core is not for you. It is about gundams, the people who pilot them and the conflicts they participate in. It is not some grunt suit fantasy where they made a gundam and it worked out great and then they never built another one ever again.
Even arguing that the mk.ii isn't a gundam because the show isn't named after it is stupid. Most of the series is not named after the main gundam.
Obsess over something else. This is not for you. You're just making yourself miserable.
>>
>>24049124
>>
>>24049124
Indeed they are but the name is all they have and the Riders aren't in the OYW, they're just like the G-Line, post-OYW machines trying to incorporate all lessons learned from various production blocks/designs of the Feddies during the production of OV-- I mean during the course of the war.
>>
>>24049127
>the Riders aren't in the OYW
They are though. Aggressor(red rider), Missing Link(pale rider) and Code Fairy(white and black rider) are OYW side stories. Red rider was at Solomon and Jaburo(and probably A Baoa Qu when the manga gets to that time frame), pale was at Jaburo and A Baoa Qu, and white and black were hunting zeeks on earth as they started to withdraw to space after Jaburo.
>>
>>24049133

I love tons bro. I'm being flippant about these because there are in fact just things like that. It would take me too many characters and be too much of spam to talk about all that I love of Gundam because it's a lot. I don't love the Pale Riders but I enjoy what they were trying to do with them, but the colour variants in other works are pretty much trash lore wise and some dumbass shit to just rehash known battles with a variety of things. Just clapbait frankly. Which can be enjoyable up til you wanna talk about MS development history or some autist shit. If you wanna use the new super-duper GMs because Sniper IIs somehow aren't cool enough for you make it a post war story, is all. Worked great for Gundam 0081 and Missing Link in the first place. Plenty of new stories make cool new designs in reasonable places. Out of more recent new OYW-ish-era Gundams I'm pretty fond of Engage and Engage Zero, they're nice designs doing a lot of their own thing. The variants are a bit hit and miss, and a lot of the non-Gundam designs in Engage are fun enough simple variants. Some stuff's kinda lame and the overall story is also clapbaity crap but I'm happy we got HGs of those two designs.

yeah it's probably best to not but shields are often big and very suitable to house extra things in like weapons or thrusters, if you lose those you still have everything else the "base" MS has to offer and it's way better than it just exploding.

>Hi-Zack's known for a myriad of potential loadouts, only one beam type of weapon though please
>HG kit comes with a trusty beamless Zaku machine gun
>and a trusty shield
>you know, to match the shield on its other shoulder
I understand that there's an addon pack from 1801 and that I can give him some rando's beam saber, but this dopey extra shield continues to fascinate and mystify me. What am I supposed to do with it? I sure gave it to him and he's looking rather cheerful on my desk, but still
I love my Hi-Zack so much man...
>>
>>24049314
The Marasai's shield especially is quite practically minded as an evolution of the Zaku shoulder shield. Folding down for storage, able to rotate in the middle and both bits can move so you can arrange it in a lot of mechanically useful positions. Other ones tend to have storage in mind which does get fairly practical for mass transportation. There's no getting around ZZ being pretty toyetic but as shield designs they work pretty well and their ability to fold helps them position around anything the arms are doing and the complex geometry of the ZZ overall. If it loses them it's another oh well case, at least the MS didn't explode. It's not like they're real wings doing a lot of lift work to begin with, in its case I doubt it stops any element of it from working - just working as well. The real flipside is any kinda mechanism like this is prone to being another failure point with damage and the shield could just get stuck in some dumb position, but it's a giant robot to begin with so that's a given for everything it does.
>>
>>24049330
>>24049314
oh and yeah HGUC Hizack's a bit sad on the extras. The MG comes with a bit more. We'll probably get an AoZ Hizack with some extras sometime. The missile pods are super cool and it's a shame they're lacking more than anything.
>>
>>24049314
>>24049330

Was thinking to thin Mr Hobby Aqueous surfacer with the X20A and this
>>
>>24049338
the original gundam has a fun thing where they make a deal of giving the gundam and g-armour TWO shields to protect both sides of it when docked and then when it lands it doublestacks them both for twice the protection
I don't think anything else really revisited this much aside from the idea Mark II's foldy shield is stacking twice the defense or whatever when stored, but it stores mostly for storage as far as I recall.

What is it for? A folded barrel state? I don't see pictures showing anything like that.
>>
>>24049301
Wait, so it comes with an extra shield and it can become a booster, that actually sounds rather cool, does the rest of the kit hold up? Looks like it's fairly posable for an early kit!
>>
>>24049497
It's extremely good for the year it came out and overall holds up alright.

I'm about to start reading AoZ in preparation to buy my buddy, but I might just grab it when I'm downtown this weekend
Is it a buddy, is it something nice to have? I don't really have a Titans shelf and although I appreciate them narratively, it's a faction that's a bit difficult to like, albeit the mobile suits are sometimes cool as hell, but sometimes wacky and unique in design
>>
>>24049513
on its own? middling buddy levels. with an advanced hazel to compliment him however they have incredible buddy energy. Advanced Hazel is the cooler kit when we're talking about Hazels in general because it comes with an extra sprue of shit, but they look best together, they're the classic AoZ duo before all those damn Woundworts started running around
>>
>>24049497
No, Zudah's scope and magazines are different.
>>
>>24049517
Sorry, meant for >>24049495
>>
>>24049517
The magazines are different yeah but I don't see any differences with the scope
Inspecting my own I did realize what that piece is though, it's just a different handle. The details of the rotating handle are different. You can see it here >>24049489, it's a new part for that rotating centerbit.

Actually, on closer inspection, the entire rifle is new I think. The whole thing. The details don't match when you get autistic. For instance, here. None of this shit is like the Zudah mold. It's all new.
>>
>New mold for Doven Wolf option head
>New parts for an existing mold, even though it is not that necessary
>Full set of expressive hands and several option parts for the backpack
Someone at Bandai must be jerking off to Reben Wolf because damn!
>>
>>24049520
it's actually blowing my mind they made an entirely new mold for what seems to be no reason
the zudah rifle is on its own runner
I definitely kneel, Reben Wolf is the godking of high effort HGUC releases, it already was in its first run but this is icing on the cake
Like nothing else even uses this fucking rifle this is almost pointless

Yeah that settles it. Space Wolf's rifle is new now that i take a closer look.
>>
>>24049523
it has a lot nicer checkering mold on the handle too. I can't find a nice big shot of the front half so it's hard to compare the barrels but the new one looks much nicer. Presumably it's properly designed for the hands, though it wasn't much of an issue to fit the Zudah one in the Reben's hands before anyway.
They sold out instantly in Japan of course.
>>
>>24049521
>>24049525
It would be funnier if the incom pack has KPS replacement too.
>>
>>24049527
I wouldn't be that surprised since otherwise it'll be a whole polycap runner just for the incom holders. It certainly looks like they're a solid piece in that all-parts display but it's tough to tell.
>>
>>24049516
Merely middling? My intro to AoZ kits was hearing you guys talk about aliexpress Woundworts, so I'm a bit lost as to what other buddies I might be able to find, but I'd definitely hope to nab an Advanced Hazel if I get this one! And oh, a review said I could give its apron to the regular Hazel, although I'm surprised it seems to have multiple shield boosters. I guess "add things to shields even though they might get hurt" worked out really well? I know the HWS Nu comes with some fuck-huge shield as well.
Oh man I want a fun duo, I hope it's not too expensive or hard to find! I love me my rare obscure finds.
>saw the S-Gundam in stock and looked into it
>seemed a bit too old of a kit, albeit pretty big for its size
>the hunt continues
>>24049517
Do care
Didn't ask!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>>
>>24049521
There are definitely some personal favourites at Bandai Hobby department. They also made AOZ Barzam to be the highest quality among the subpar releases in the line.
>>
>>24049530
One of AoZ's strongest appeals is that a huge chunk of the designs are things you can make out of existing model kits, playability increases with basically every AoZ kit you get because barring a couple they're all designed to work together or share parts in one form or another with something else and there's so much optional shit in the designs you can make your own variants.
But completely alone the buddy potential is low, Hazel Custom wants a friend like Advanced Hazel or Titans Mark II to look cool next to, particularly the pairing of Hazel Custom's white scheme + a Titans scheme (in my opinion of course) looks amazing to bring out that early AoZ energy. And it becomes a great little dude when you get really into AoZ. Advanced Hazel is still the kit that everyone cares about though. As Bandai offerings go there are extremely few ways to get the special beam diffuse equipment shield booster it comes with. Only like 3 kits come with it and two are PB. It's one of the more sought after bits I think it's fair to say. Chink bootlegs alleviate spare parts issues overall thoughbeit so it's only a little special now.
>>
>>24049529
>otherwise it'll be a whole polycap runner just for the incom holders.
It is not that surprising. Barzam II has polycaps just for Woundwort parts that leads to a hillarious outcome. Everything belongs to Barzam is rock solid while Woundwort sections are floppy messes.
>>
>>24049540
that's a pretty different case though because Woundwort uses a buncha polycaps and they did in fact just bundle together the existing mars woundwort, barzam, and a new runner for that kit
in this case nothing else at all uses them, it's just two polycaps for those incom holders and actually nothing else at all, and those parts are on their own runner in the first place from the Silver Bullets which means you unironically have nothing else to build with them.
It'd be kinda cool if they did include copies of the Doven Wolf PC sheet for them because that thing's a meaty polycap sheet I could put to use for some spare bits, but I'm betting it'll be replacement parts lumped in on the new mold for the backpack connectors etc.
>>
>>24049541
Income pack has 4 PCs, 2 for the incom holder and 2 for the boosters. It seems justifed enough to include the runner.
>>
>>24049542
Oh yeah you're right forgot about those lil guys in there, makes me feel a little more like it could go either way
I'm happy with either honestly those balljoint PCs have held up very well on my Doven Wolf, actually almost all the joints are still reasonably tight except the knee joints despite being an original Sleeves release and absolutely manhandled over the years
>>
>>24049539
That sounds so fun, but similar to 30MM both in terms of fun and a rabbit hole
>rabbit logo
>named after one of the miserable rabbits from Watership Down apparently
Hm
>Titans Mark II
But my fave is the AEUG ver and so it was hard to think about when to get a Titans one
>tfw picked up a Super Gundam to give my modern Mk-II the backpack
>only the larger hand from the old kit can hold the giga gun
>better off just giving it to the older Mk-II the G-Defenser came with
I'd assume most of the AoZ kits are from the same old era or the same new p-bandai era, such that each grouping is compatible with each other?
>Advanced Hazel is still the kit that everyone cares about though.
Hehe, this makes me warm up to the Hazel a bit more, since I have a soft spot for overlooked second-favourite/non-favourite guys!
>p-bandai
Man... I can't wait for the chinks to get all up on that shit, I'm still waiting for the rest of the shuffle alliance. And hopefully the bootleg Woundwort is fun and good quality as well! People seem absolutely ecstatic about that, and really any AoZ content for some reason, I'm confused
>>
>>24049420
Has bootleg production slowed down? Usually we get like a couple a month. All he posted recently are third party kits.
>>
>>24049555
Almost everything is named after things from Watership Down (Hrududu is the rabbit term for engine noises, several are named after characters like Fiver, etc) unless they're not made by the Titans Test Team (it's their shtick).
AoZ kits span all the eras, Hazel is the oldest. But it's held up pretty well. Woundwort is fairly dated at this point despite being a lot newer because it's stuck on really fiddly polycap construction for a very intricate design not all that long before Bandai basically stopped with heavy PC construction, while Hazel basically heralded a new era of design in HGUC kits. Some have had updates. Hell, Hazel has had some updated, but only in the Hazenthlay configurations that give them new hips. It's all a bit convoluted, which fits because so is AoZ. Almost all of it except the original run of kits back in the early 2000s are P-Bandai.
AoZ is well loved because it's a long running property and it's extremely tech autistic, a huge amount of the AoZ content to consume are mechanical illustrations. Fujioka is very thoughtful about MS design lineages and AoZ is basically carrying some Sentinel heritage of approaching Mobile Suit designs from a more-practical standpoint. Lots of things are inspired by just looking at existing designs, breaking down how they work, and making something different with some element of them. At this point it has become a love letter to most UC designs while having now really cultivated his own iconic style. He's drawn so many variants of UC things now he's basically the second coming of Katoki with his design unification, sleek style and attention to detail.
tl;dr people like what the cool crippled bunnygirl enthusiast draws a lot cus it's thoughtful and cool

ran out of characters but I wanted to emphasize everything by underscoring volume 100 of AoZ reboot
for the 100th volume a lot of people were expecting the (heavily built up to and much anticipated) TR-S, I won't get into it make an AoZ thread if you want all this in more detail, but instead he showcased the Kelderek in full
The Kelderek itself is basically just a franken gundam Hazel, the whole thing is testing existing equipment from across the Feddie arsenal and projects, pulling from basically everything that existed beforehand. This harkens all the way back to the Hazel itself, first really conceptualized as a bit of a mashup, but it's also a call to all the fans to "make their own Hazels." For the 100th volume Fujioka really just said "(you) are the Kelderek" and hoped to see people make their own fave little mashups of shit.
It's just fucking neato man, and he's based.
>>
>>24049549
The only complain about Doven Wolf HG i have is the weak main leg joint at the pelvis. Surely Reben Wolf is meant to be the 1.5 version since the compatibility between the 2 kits is high but i doubt anybody would cannibalize their Reben for it.

I vaguely remember Watership Down from as a kid, it felt like a particularly long show but I think I later looked it up and it was but a humble 39 episodes and one movie. I definitely remember Woundwort and Pipkin, don't remember Scarro and Bigdad's names, I'd assume Hazel was one of the friendly girl ones. I can't believe I have to watch/read Watership Down before AoZ...
>Hazel's the oldest even though it looked alright
Things are looking up!
Convoluted... do I need to know tech to appreciate it, or is it techy jumbo bullshit that makes you so glad that someone cared and gave you little details like
>the pistons in the mobile suit also operate the build-in laundry machine
and you're so sincerely amazed because troop hygiene was never addressed before
And frick, I haven't read Sentinel yet either! But YEAH I looked at the Hazel's butt and it reminded me of the Alex, and the booster shield reminded me of the Nu's HWS as well, you mean stuff like that?
>design unification
That sounds lovely...
>cool crippled bunnygirl enthusiast
H-huh
>Kelderek
I haven't heard of these, but I'll assuredly make an excited AoZ thread when I finish reading it (the manga's fine right?), just you wait! Sounds exciting if people were anticipating a big ol thing for volu- wait you mean chapter 100 right??
>it's a mashup
Wait but they're the Titans operating at their peak, not as remnants right? It'd make sense if they were remnants... but I'll trust Fujioka.
>"(you) are the Kelderek" and hoped to see people make their own fave little mashups of shit.
Reminds me of the extended Bionicle lorebook where it included a lot of fan-sent creations and canonized them into real shit, that's so cute

I like it by association with the new Blue Destiny units... Which is all I actually want... But they stopped working on the comic just as we barely get to see what the new upgraded Unit 02 looks like... So while I'd like a fully equipped RX-80BD03 kit with the new RX-80BD02 with Zeon parts... I'd settle for just the base RX-80BD units.
