One further note, I was actually dubious on whenever making a thread here given the cliché theme but IN SPACE, so after reading the manga adaptation so far, I say it does work, specially given the scope of the adaptation covered on the PV.

The power armor the MC purchases also helps.
    >>
    >>24036806
The main nigga's power armor in the manga is kinda neat, I liked when he slaughted some monsters like he was on a starship troopers trip.

Protagonist seems pretty based and sometimes that's enough for me to like a show. Wasn't expecting him to have such a manly voice
    >>
    >>24036806
The imperial officer girl is great. That’s it. Everything else is just okay. Manga’s just alright, I can’t see the anime being anything special.
    >>
It's weird that isekai that don't take place in a fantasy world are so rare?

    >>24036806
Get isekai out of my space operas fuck off
    >>
    >>24037017
Yeah. Because normally you would just travel to other worlds or space without needing to be reborn into a space setting.
    >>
    >>24036989
It's pretty much a Elite Dangerous anime, that actually pop up in my head by chapter 2, and what you know, that is the exactly the writer's intention. Which I guess is a nice change of pace from all of the fantasy RPG settings that a banal isekai usually is.

    >>24037044
Not that it makes much difference at all and it's hardly a spoiler, but the MC is not actually 'reborn', he just doze off on his PC while playing the not-Elite Dangerous and wakes up on his OP spaceship, a pile of cash and some provisions, and that's it.

    >>24037052
You'll find absolutely no 'opera' in this space setting, I can tell you that.
    >>
    >>24037053
Where's my zombie apocalypse isekai. I'd love to see a story where a protagonist thinks he's gonna end up in another fantasy wotld only to end up in a zombie outbreak where RPG stats don't mean shit.
    >>
    >>24037067
RPG stats aren't even a thing in half the isekai stories

    >>
    >>24037252
Based off the promo they'll at least get up to the vacation planet and maid robot arc. So there will be a power armor that shows up 3/4s of the way through the show.
    >>
    >>24037082
Systems are everywhere in web fiction. It's not like it's unique to Korea or even East Asia. Wandering Inn has a system.

Another interesting idea ruined by Harem trash and garbage power fantasy tripe. Given that it was one of the few interesting Space Sci-Fi manga to come out at the time, I had high hopes. But given the MC basically never has to struggle for anything and the characters all behave like cardboard cutouts it got boring real fast. Which is a real shame. I'm a huge sucker for Sci-fi and I was looking for my latest fix and had high hopes for this series. It had a lot of interesting ideas and concepts but did nothing with them which is a real shame.
    >>24037014
Agreed. One of the few interesting characters in the series. She had some real potential to add some desperately need conflict to the plot. I was extremely disappointed they she became just another female to add to the MC's harem. She could've brought a lot to the table given her background.

Unfortunately, in these types of stories the protagonists are incapable of having relationships with the opposite gender without romance or sex. Even blood relatives aren't safe.
    >>
I've read like five of the novels. It's okay. My big issue is that the author, at least for the books I've read, sticks with his formula too hard. MC meets girl. Goes on an adventure where he doesn't struggle or sweat in the slightest. Then adds girl to harem/crew.
    >>
    I hate Japanese plot.
In 2026, even Americans sci fi is better.

Even trash russian sci fi movies have better plot.
    >>
    >>24038618
A lot of light novels are like that like Smartphone and Cheat Skill. I think most of them are based on web novels and it's usually the most formulaic ones that get published.
    >>
    >>24038618
That's because the MC is competent, unlike Western sci-fi/fantasy where if you're not a competent mary sue like Honor Harrington you are a total retard who doesn't know what to do at any point of the story so the author can fake some worldbuilding.
    >>
    >>24038643
I've read other isekai stories, so I get it. I prefer ones where the hero struggles so it feels more earned.

Hiro's not just competent, he's borderline infallible. Makes Captain Future look like a fuckup.
    >>

    Flow Unstoppable.
    >>
    >>24038648
I feel like stories where the hero struggles have become a rarity nowadays. They just follow the same formula of "The hero has a skill everyone thinks it's useless but it's secretly overpowered and everyone except the hero is a either a dumbass or a cheerleader." Like the writer's clearly trying to have their cake and eat it too. They want the protagonist to be seen as an underdog but don't want to put in the work, so they get a power up almost immediately then make everyone else braindead to make the protagonist look smart.
    >>
    >>24038656
It's definitely more rare in the isekai LN scene. The hero needing to get stronger over time is a big part of the appeal when it comes to any sort of thing like this.

With this, it doesn't help that Hiro really doesn't have a goals beyond "1. Buy a house. 2. Find Coca-Cola 3. Get pussy". And there's not really any sort of actual escalation.

I think Mob Otome and Evil Overlord are better as far as sci-fi shit goes. At least you see the heroes train and struggle just a bit more there. Little more personality to them too.
    >>
Refreshing to see MC just accept for what it is on being transported to another universe and play along.

That harem rizz on 3 ladies troupe is still there though. Take it, suckers.
    >>

This will never not be funny, but I guess Sevens treated the harem itself with more respect.

Grappler-equivalent spaceships. Remember that the MC's one has arms.

    >>24036806
Seems okay so far. I feel pretty starved for space adventure anime these days so I'll take what I can get.

    >>24038618
I can get that. Its a definitely an issue with modern LNs and subsequently their adaptations.

I wonder why if it is an audience preference or just what editors think audiences want. Either way, it is probably what I dislike most about the power fantasy aspect. I can deal with, say, harem aspects, but it gets kinda boring when you can't feel like there is actual tension.

The slow pace on ep. 2 makes me think this is going for 26 episodes but the budget for most of the episode clearly shows it's 13-ish. Guess most of Hiro's pirate hunting (and shoving drunk Serena out of his ship) will be abridged later.

Four episodes per volume is a pretty standard for LN adaptations. Which looks like what's happening here. So, probably only doing the first three novels. It'll likely end with the big fight against the space nobles on the resort planet.

there is a consensus about the mid visuals and animation. the OP , characters and the voice actors (im watching in JP, the Latin american dub doesn´t fit) and the story is still on track

And Rayearth isn't like Syosetu slop at all. The Knights aren't killed by a truck and they don't have "cheat powers". On the contrary, they progressively level up.
    >>
    >>24061209
I will always maintain that old things that just have other worlds as a plot device are fundamentally a different thing than new shows that fall under narou/syosetsu/isekai/whatever it's trendy to call them that week.

    >>24061212
    >are fundamentally a different thing than new shows that fall under narou/syosetsu/isekai/whatever it's trendy to call them that week.

It's a website, not unlike Wattpad here in the West. Wannabe authors just follow the template and write what's turned out to become popular: "random guy gets reincarnated into a JRPG and has a cheat power".
    >>
    >>24061225
Yes, I'm aware. It's also known for very distinctive style of writing, to the point it's essentially a genre onto itself. A show like rayearth or dunbine or escaflowne despite having isekai as a plot device doesn't fit into the mold of modern narou/syosetsu style isekai/isekai adjacent writing.
    >>
    >>24061225
