I like how Gunraid's default weapon is a smaller beam gun. It doubles down on the GM vibe compared to its contemporary grunts and also fits in with its competitor Jamesgun also using a small, lightweight beam rifle.Hardygun is the outlier here, carrying a regular sized rifle and having yet more firepower with the VSBR as well. It's really interesting how they all have such different design philosophies.

is gaia gear canon? what is canon to UC past Victory?
>>24036854canon is a spook
>>24036556e-hentai and other usual sites have it
>>24036854G-Saviour is canon until stated otherwise or officially contradictedGG is disavowed by Tomino himself
>>24029207>I wish, but it seems like it means Magna, Super Destroid and possibly other variations.I think it could go either way really. If RGC-X was a competition in its own right logically it should have had other contenders, even if it seems like Super Destroid won in the end. There's mention of other manufacturers but for all we know even other branches of SNRI or especially Anaheim could have made their own attempts as well, just like how Hardygun and Jamesgun were made by different Anaheim teams.>Speaking of which I feel like is rather cool that Magna is now supposed to be the part of the same generation as Jamesguns / Javelins. That is very cool yeah, it's always great to see more info relating to James and Jav
>>24036930>If RGC-X was a competition in its own right logically it should have had other contenders, even if it seems like Super Destroid won in the end.I'm going just off the summary, but it made it seem like the one that won is Magna as it was the one that got mass-produced, while Super Destroid is poised as a custom job with only 14 MS built. Also it sounds like it was more of a companion piece to RGM-X winner, rather than a formal competition. And possibly, it means that those that lost RGM-X aren't really in the run as different platforms might make maintenance harder, even if all of them are kind of similar and can use the same equipment. But speaking of what could other competitors make, I'd imagine that the answer is simple. Granada branch Hardygun already can perform the function of RGC-like suit, so they would just have to re-enter it. SNRI would likely throw together something lazy, just throwing some equipment on F80, which got out of the box compatibility with F70 even having a variation with its backpack. Though it would have to use newer equipment that SNRI used while testing F71, like PWT configuration that a more performant base MS like F80 should utilize to a much better effect.
>>24036964>Magna as it was the one that got mass-produced, while Super Destroid is poised as a custom job with only 14 MS built.that would be correct, in my defense I can't read>more of a companion piece to RGM-X winner, rather than a formal competitionas U understand the competition is still a full blown event, just still second fiddle to RGM-X and naturally the winner is gonna have to be something that plays nice with RGM-X winner rather than the other way around. Which itself already makes one wonder what other options were considered if Jamesgun hasn't won>I'd imagine that the answer is simpleyeah like you say, the easiest bets are probably Hardygun maybe adjusted for more focus on mid-range support and lower overall specs plus literally just F80 I guess. Though granted, they want a beam shield countermeasure so F80 for RGC-X would probably be also rocking something like a low-spec but refined version of the V-Type mission pack, probably mixed with Heavygun's PWT gearI'm just wondering if there's room for some radically different option like suddenly F72 coming in with a steel chair even if it amounts to nothing in the end. I hope we get a some more new Formula series designs in Cluster after F80, besides mission packs.
>>24036971>yeah like you say, the easiest bets are probably Hardygun maybe adjusted for more focus on mid-range support and lower overall specs plus literally just F80 I guess. Those might even be an overkill though, though the power of the beams surely can be fine-tuned.As well as the fact that RGM series MS were used as a mid-range support all the time, so the practice isn't new. GM III most of its life was used like that while fully armed with missile pods.>I'm just wondering if there's room for some radically different option like suddenly F72 coming in with a steel chair even if it amounts to nothing in the end. I hope we get a some more new Formula series designs in Cluster after F80, besides mission packs. It could happen, but I imagine that if it would happen it wouldn't be F8 or F7 series. Both because of cutting losses, actually cooperating with some parts of Anaheim behind the scenes and having an interest on working with the high part of high and low mix as it allows to make a higher cost suits. At best, we might see a half-baked one-off prototype of F60 that was canned. Not saying I personally wouldn't want more of F7 and F8 btw.F92 to F96 though? F00? Crazier variants of MP F91? All sound like fair game.
>>24036854G-saviour.last gundam pilot to ever exist in UC is Reed Fox.
>>24036996>As well as the fact that RGM series MS were used as a mid-range support all the time, so the practice isn't newTrue, but it's been acknowledged even conventional mid-range suits struggle to maintain distance now. Just simply stick heavy weapons onto the unit doesn't cut it's hence Magna has a lot of mobility upgrades too. Incidentally I wonder if later modernised models of it had beam shields...>GM III most of its life was used like that while fully armed with missile pods.I wouldn't really say that, the missile can launch a barrage or two but then they're purged as dead weight, it's not really dedicated support unit material. I remember its MMM even noted this doctrine is more similar to Kampfer than anything else.>At best, we might see a half-baked one-off prototype of F60 that was canned.I, for one, am still betting on a post-Crossbone unit. F6 series seems to have been cancelled in rather early stages, I doubt there was even an idea for a prototype. Rather, it'd be cool to see the line (briefly) revived later on using Crossbone data, think Flint with further budget cuts. I admit I mostly want this just so the uninitiated are even more confused how one of the last Formula suits would have a lower number than all the rest lol
I wonder if UC NEXT is a genuine "let's focus more on late UC" project or if it's just a fancy name for the hathaway movies (which aren't even late UC imho)
>>24037928Given the F90 manga alone have already done more to expand late UC as a whole than anything since Victory anime it seems pretty obvious to me anon. And the project has always been consistently advertised as everything post CCA
>>24037930I wouldn't really consider manga as a sign of looking more into Late UC, they've also got an office lady Haman manga, that doesn't mean they're looking more into the office lady timeline
>>24037931You don't consider many things, we can tell.
>>24036854"Canon" is too loose of a term for Sunrise anime to be truly useful, as they pick and choose what's true more or less on a per project basis, then write around retcons. And release different statements on what's true or not true all the time...Broadly, what we know comes after UC 0153 is as follows...Crossbone Ghost's Epilogue (0168)Crossbone Dust (0169)Crossbone X-11 (0170)Crossbone Love and Piece (0171)Crossbone Seerauber (0172)Almarya (0179) (bonus story in the back of Double Fake, very weird, but never said to 'not' be canon...)Gaia Gear Novels (0200ish, though the actual date of the novels isn't set in stone, while the drama CD was set in 0203, but the drama was officially declared alternate in its final release disc. Nothing about the novel alone being alternate canon has said this for sure. Tomino just likes to ignore it personally.)G-Saviour Audio Dramas (0221-0223)G-Saviour Film (0223)G-Saviour PS2 Game (0224)Gundam Oblivion-G (02xx) No clear year, but somewhere in the UC 200s, long after G-SaviourV Gundam Gaiden's Ending (UC 0653 is the year the newtypes from the story are said to reach Proxima Centauri)Mad Wang 1160 (UC 1160, A sequel to a Z Gundam side story, so not aligned with normal UC Canon. A loose far future what if at best.)Post UC CalendarsRing of Gundam (G.C. 333 - Gaia Century, said to be a close successor to UC, though no idea how that relates to G-Reco or any other work, if at all)Gundam Reconguista in G (R.G. 1014 - Sunrise still says it's after UC, before Turn A. Tomino recently said he only considers it after "thematically", not literally.)Turn A Gundam (CC 2245, anywhere from 5,000-10,000 years after the UC depending on which source you read. Several AU series may or may not fit between UC and here, again, depending on the source you read.)That about covers it. Obviously, not all of those can happen without retcons, so pick and choose for yourself what is true (it probably shouldn't be Mad Wang, BTW).
>>24037928No, it isn't a "let's focus on late UC" project. It is a "let's move forward in time from overly explored time periods" project.Though I do not blame you for forgetting that it had begun with Narrative. We have been getting an unprecedented amount of the proper late UC focus in side media with F91 and Victory side stories and game content, as well as Gunpla though.>>24037930>And the project has always been consistently advertised as everything post CCAHa. It's not even that going by how the official website includes fucking Moon.>>24037931>they've also got an office lady Haman manga, that doesn't mean they're looking more into the office lady timelineThey should.
>>24037956It's also known from Oblivion G that the tech for designing advanced movable frames is lost by its time. The Fragment Gundam is built on a modified Mobile Worker frame
>>24038323You're putting way too much stock in what's essential a doujin draft, not even a whole story. One project says one thing, no other project has any obligation to care about it. Acting like there's a single, coherent, perfect, carefully crafted setting and new works give us glimpses into this worldview is the height of westerner foolishness.
>>24038362You're right, but trying to fill in the gaps can also be fun even if they were never intended. In fact, that's exactly how publications like F90FF, Cluster and Monthly Mobile are doing it. They're just straight up taking old lore and fitting it in, even from the most obscure of places and trying to connect it for fun.And you know what? It's interesting. Arguably more interesting than if it were planned from the start that way. That's how the lore of a big series evolves anyway. If none of it is real anyway, why not get creative with it?

>>24039891>it's clearly got the same vibe with all the obscure references and worldbuilding and so onSame is subjective-ish as I feel like the degrees between proper story and the supplement aren't nearly the same, but it is also precisely why. It is much easier to assume that it is something that was made by someone who's job is to read and organize a lot of background information, rather than an external team that is contracted to make a few manga series.
the moment I remember this: >>24040093is the moment I realize that the record breaker is inferior to V2 in every aspect. Sure it can fly as fast, but the Minovsky Drive on Uso MS pretty much make all of those based off of the F99 look like poor immitations.

>>24040752It doesn't hijack bits and funnels nor turn back time. Then again, PsychoFrames are busted as fuck.Only thing V2 going for it's WoL, which is far superior to all of the other MS before and after it.
>>24040774>hijack bits and funnelswhich is not really that big of a deal since focusing on funnels as the primary weapon is impractical and inefficient, they work better as a secondary utility>nor turn back timeit's not like there's a button for that in the cockpit anymore than Nu has a "push back trillions of tons" buttonit's unpredictable, unreplicable and uncontrollableIn other words worse than worthless as a weapon, it's actively detrimental for its purpose because an unreliable weapon that you can't direct and may cause unconceivable damage to yourself is not a weapon at all. It is, at best, a glorified paperweight.Zaku II is a better weapon than Unicorn.>Then again, PsychoFrames are busted as fuck.Hardly, it's just a more efficient, miniaturized Psycommu system. There's a whole bunch of post-Unicorn units using Psychoframe to enhance the control system and they're hardly groundbreaking because of it.
>>24040784Guess you can boil it down to Newtype Bullshit. Same with the Wing of Light on Uso's end.

>>24042616Do the MGs have the features in your pic?
>>24043012No. The beam sabres do store in the elbows but they don't have rotating heads as they should to make the beam shield. I don't remember if they even fit 2 in each but it's been a while since I messed with my V MG.The VSBRs do expand though of course since that's easy.
>>24043015>they don't have rotating heads as they should to make the beam shield.Strictly speaking they shouldn't have that regardless. This was a design feature that made it very late into production but was abandoned because they decided it's inconvenient and bothersome to keep track of in animation for no real gain. You'd just have Victory be arbitrarily restricted from using particular beam sabers or shields in some situations and limit choreography possibilities, nevermind risk just making unnecessary mistakes.Plus from an in-universe perspective it doesn't make much sense, why would it have to share the beam emitters for both? It looks cool on the drawing for sure but makes no sense when it's decades old extremely basic and common technology at this point.
>>24043041It makes a ton of sense in universe. Why would it do that? Because they can fulfill two functions at once and it actually streamlines parts/production by only making beam sabres and housing units for them instead of beam shields and beam sabres. Why double up on plasma generators when you have beam sabres which have become handheld beam shields? It's a more realistic design sensibility in practice. It has 4 beam sabres, it'll always have some options for shielding. It all ties into everything about the V which really becomes a "complex machine under a simple form."It does indeed create a lot of problems for consistency of animation, but that's the nature of animating robots with tons of gimmicks.
>>24043046But it doesn't do any of that, all it achieves is that now you can't pull out your beam saber while defending with that arm or use the beam shield while the the saber is whipped out. Each saber makes up half of the beam shield after all, without one you are suddenly covering half the area. And you can still have the utilitarian sensibility aspect of it by simply having the saber and the shield use the same type of beam emitter. Which does appear to be the case since we do see Victory deploy a kind of wide "beam fan" from the saber sometimes. I think it's only done once or twice so it's rather funny like every single Victory kit comes with the effect part for that.
>>24043052That's a complete non-issue though. You have four beam sabres, half a shield left even if you're using both for some reason, and their storage placement makes shifting from handheld to storage mode about as quick as could be. Half a shield is plenty of defense to begin with, but it can also of course turn the handheld one into a beam fan to reposition it too. It's plenty. Yes, they function as beam fans, that's why they considered that function at all. As far as parts creation and simplification goes, though, it's no contest for the beam sabres only vs beam shield and beam sabre combo. Even truncating it down to "the emitter is the same for both" it means extra weight to carry both and an extra power line to the shield, while sabres-alone cut that out. It is in all ways a simplification (at the expense of slightly more complicated beam sabres), and the downsides in real use would be virtually irrelevant. As an aside and into the real of universal speculation, there's no reason we really have to imagine they can't create a full shield. I understand of course that it's intuitive by not having half the emitter, but that's really nowhere near the whole story of beam shield technology, especially by V. Beam emissions that extend and loop back over the emitter do exist; obviously there's the Crossbones and their unique beam shields but also beam flags and V2's own Wings of Light in ordinary function and a few other funky shaped beam emissions here and there to cast some doubt on whether that's a rule anyone would ever have to obey (it isn't if they decided tomorrow it wasn't and wrote it in a book).Back to non speculation land, if we take into account this arrangement is supposed to be interchangeable with what the V actually does in animation except cutting the plane in half when a sabre is out, it'd still be the best MS beam shield. I couldn't quickly find an image of it but just pretend I posted a picture of the time V made its beam shield enormous.

>>24043072Thanks bro. I thought it'd be on the wiki but it wasn't then a little googling didn't find it and I didn't want to go search for what episode it was. Life saver.
>>24043069At the end of the day it comes down to the simple fact that there's just no need for a setup like this when beam shields are basic tech and any other suit just has it simply mounted on the arm.
>>24043074See, it's the reverse for me. It just makes way more sense. It isn't something that matters a shitload but it is the sort of tiny detail of streamlined production that perfectly fits what the V is. This thing is a pretty advanced dude that has been simplified down enough parts for it can be made in manufacturing hubs all over the world in a real ass guerilla style production assembly. Pulling double duty with this simplification makes so much sense to me as a guerilla machine and is what I live for in mechanical detail and worldbuilding. It really tickles my fancy as a bit of ingenuity an engineer came up with to save labor and cost complexities to stretch the resources they had further, and that's LM as fuck. They're making enough of these things to regularly lose them on a shoestring budget, the little things add up.
>>24043052>>24043069The smarter way to do it would be to have a permanent beam shield emitter in the arm-elbow, but you still have to slot in a beam saber into the arm like a battery to "power" the beam shield, This avoids the problem of something as small as a beam saber needing to have a rotating emitter head so fewer moving parts that can go wrong, while still retaining the same concept and having the beam shield share parts with the beam saber. Better yet, it can do the thing where having one saber in the arm can produce a regular size and regular strength beam shield, but if you have two sabers in the arm, you can produce a stronger or larger shield from that arm. This already ties into a bunch of the clever stuff they were doing with sabers like combining their output for longer reach or creating super large beam "fields" with just two emitters.>but you're still losing out by having to choose between using a saber as a saber or a shieldThen just equip the Victory with 4 sabers minimum, and up to 6-8 beam sabers like the Methuss had. It's already a more expensive limited production MS that can equip VSBRs and twin shoulder beam cannons, adding extra normal beam sabers won't hurt the budget that much. The core top will have 2x beam sabers in each arm by default and the core bottom can have 1 or 2 beam sabers in each leg.
>>24043088>This avoids the problem of something as small as a beam saber needing to have a rotating emitter head so fewer moving parts that can go wrongI think this is a completely solved problem in universe honestly, the beam shield itself is already a whole thing on a moving hinge on a mobile that is just actually just a series of hinges so it can separate and transform and etc. Nevermind fingers holding them.Personally if I were designing it I would have the V's beam sabre head split open so one beam sabre emitter actually turns into a full beam shield emitter. It's also a really elegant function and would truncate it down to only needing one beam sabre.

>>24042594Yes? It is all high-end equipment that would be still awesome to use. It isn't unlike Draig's gund that V-Dash uses.Obviously, you'd still need to consider the required specs, so some mixed-build MS from Dust era that might struggle with beam weaponry would be out of luck.>>24042616Hard points are only relevant for the ease of equipment swapping. Given enough time you can modify the MS and/or equipment to be used together regardless of combinations.
>>24042824We can do better
>>24041081See, the funny thing is that Jupiter Republic suits eventually becoming some flavor of Crossbone makes sense because the X style vernier thrusters make sense for the environment around there. A Crossbone simply is the meta build for that environment. But someone fucking tell me why the fucking Anchor Gundam eventually transformed into a malformed Crossbone too. >>24044312Except that Jamesgun is a really nice machine, pretty much on par with the Den'ans and also very reliable and versatile. It can be easily adjusted to very efficiently operate in any environment to boot, there's a reason it remained the mainstay for as long as Jegan before it and it's not just budget cuts.I think it's kind of a similar situation to how Heavygun was besmirched as "just a smaller Jegan" by young pilots while the experienced personnel thought "holy shit the best thing ever just got even better". Both are true but they're very different attitudes. Granted, with both Heavy and James the conservative takes were later proven wrong when large scale conflicts did not, in fact, become a thing of the past. But at the time of their rollout they were exactly what was asked for. And even if they were underperforming against overwhelming forces some pilots still pulled crazy shit on them. Like Birgit in F91 and the AAAA team in V-MSV.
>>24043121Didn't most of said kill count came from that Zanscare Cannon he fired on their fleet?
>>24044301>>24044297>Initially, the Minovsky Drive was intended to be an enhancement for the V1 model. However, it soon became apparent that the V1 chassis couldn’t withstand the Drive’s specifications, leading to an urgent need for an entire redesign. I would like to believe that Second Victory was made to stress test the drives until they decide to make the Boosters for the Victory while creating a new suit for the Drives.

Isn't it weird how it took literal decades for someone to design a ZZ Plus? Like the Zeta Plus is one of those cult designs that is popular enough for SEED to rip it off so you'd think a ZZ Plus would've happened sooner. I mean why did Katoki do a Delta Plus instead of ZZ Plus? We'll never know.
>>24045372because he and the rest of the creative team felt like it and it was appropriate for the show
>>24045372ZZ is rightful Kobayashi clay
>>24045372They did a ZZ variation and Zeta variations for Sentinel, Sentinel's whole time period kinda means they're working with ZZ prototypes and not mass produced variants of the thing that only just rolled out. If Sentinel as a project had happened a year or two later and ended up being more mid or post ZZ maybe we'd have a roster of ZZ+ variants.
Once Jupiter's helium reserves run dry, colonies will inevitably try to fight for the helium supplies of Titan and Saturn's moons
>>24045458I don't think that's something that's likely to happen in any kind of relevant timespan
>>24045458I feel like it's decently well known at this point but Gundam's arrangement with Jupiter for He3 is one of the more outdated bits of science. The Moon has plenty. Jupiter would also take an astronomical amount of time to "run out" and humanity would be interstellar or dead by then.
>>24045462Yeah we havent come close to running out of anything on Earth despite mining here for several thousand years, I dont think there is any conceivable way for us to use all the helium on jupiter before the sun goes nova
>>24045372Late UC?Anyway, as much as I love ZZ, Delta was just a more interesting concept to explore. I mean, a phantom Gundam design that was too intricate to be made at the time, so it had to be reworked into Hyaku Shiki sounds awesome, even if it wasn't nearly as fun in practice. Also, I think that in universe implication was that Rezel kind of took over not just Zeta's, but also ZZ's niche with Defenser unit.
>>24045519The ReZEL itself already borrows some (FA) ZZ elements. It's kind of a love letter mashup of Methuss, Z and FA ZZ. The legs are pretty direct evolutions of the FA leg bits, and the Commander type using the over-the-shoulder backpack-attached cannon feels an intentional nod to it too.
>>24045519>>24045521Defenser A Unit is explicitly based on ZZ's data, yesMeanwhile B's binders with beam cannons take after Gaplant
>>24045519ZZ is late UC by virtue of Gump
>>24045526So is Psycho Gundam, but you don't see anyone posting random shit about its lineage and why wasn't it expanded upon more in the early UC era.Especially when ZZ was getting a lot of Xtra attention recently in general.
>>24045372We've had the MP ZZ for years, it's just much uglier than the MP Z.
>>24045574Its always been strange to me that aside from the GM itself, these mass produced gundams are only ever in side materials instead of being the mainstay feddie grunt for the next series.ZZ should have seen the feds rolling out mp zetas near the middle
>>24045584yeah you're the strange part here
>>24045584Despite what they look like, MP Zeta, MP ZZ and MP Hyaku Shiki aren't really GM-like grunts, but more akin to G-Line.Same goes for MP Nu, MP F91 and Flint BTW.Also ZZ EFF rolling out MP Zetas was out of the question, considering that even Nemo was too pricey for them.
>>24045609J-Saviour also falls into that category, I think
>>24045585Noel Wrath also falls into this as they don't have the Mechanics and resources to properly mass produce them (only 9 were made).

Someone remind me again of UC Tech creep, but did the later Minovsky Drive (or really, any super high speed mobile suits) units retain the special dampening fluid cockpits that the Ghost and X-0 had during the lategame events of Ghost? The justification being at the time that the filled up cockpits dampen the G-Forces so that the Ghost can freely use max acceleration Minovksy Drive (and the X-0 can be overclocked) without reducing Font and Curtis' internal guts into paste.Do later gottagofast suits retain the special fluid cockpit? Or did they make new variable cockpits that can also handle extreme G-forces without turning the cockpits into pseudo wombs? Or did they just drop the whole "Oh shit, we gotta make an in-universe justification of how these demonic speed midgets don't turn scramble their pilot's guts" line of thought?
>>24046518The V2's cockpit is noted as having some special dampner somewhere, I can't remember what the technobabble is specifically but it's fully designed to protect the pilot during combat maneuvers.
>>24046272Okay you've convinced me, how do I get into G-savior?
>>24046518Pretty sure the fluid cockpits were a one-off. But Uso doesn't turn into paste when flying the V2 so presumably they figured out some other workaround, likely on the pilot suits themselves
>>24046518>>24046551>>24046658Thing is, the endgame of Ghost happened concurrently with when Uso was raping Angel Halo with the V2. And mind you, at that point in time, the Ghost was rocking a MD inferior to that of the V2's. But even then, Font had to get that special cockpit just not to turn into a smoothie. Only way to make sense of this was that the V2 really was an anomaly of a machine like 20-30 years ahead of its time. Not just in performance, but cockpit stability and probably pilot suit too. That, or Uso really is just a freak of nature.
>>24046667Likely to be both, but also the F91 was already doing the I AM SPEED thing without any adverse effects for the pilot many years earlier so methinks the Crossbone Vanguard's engineers just didn't get the memo on proper cockpit dampening
>>24046667>or Uso really is just a freak of natureSecond coming of Yazan?
>>24046667>Uso was raping Angel Halo with the V2.Or, rather, Shakti tearing the structure apart from the inside out.

I still wonder what the heck is up with this Vigna Zirah [Gundam Face] vs Cluster Gundam situation. When is that gonna happen? How is it gonna happen?
>>24047905Probably soon, considering that we already got Cluster and we currently are getting into Silhouette Formula arc that should introduce Vigna Zirah.
>>24047937I'm not so sure, this is notably the Gundam-faced Zirah which didn't appear in Silhouette and naturally neither did Cluster. I'm sure there will be some expanding upon the story since there's more characters getting involved but not to this extent.Assuming we are going to have a full blown Crossbone Vanguard era now just as we had for Oldsmobile, this scene could easily be happening at a later point. Perhaps even post F91.
>>24047905>>24048208I want to know the purpose of the Gundam Head swap for the Vigna Zirah. I have the RE1/100 kit and it always confused me other than trying to hammer in that the Vigna Zirah is a CV Gundam.
>>24048375>other than trying to hammer in that the Vigna Zirah is a CV Gundam.I think it is pretty much that, they stole the data from AE and built the Zirah just as a CV version of AE's tech and design. Part of it is perhaps curiosity about how well the enemy's tech works because there's no point in slapping a goggle head sensor on it since the CV already have those and know how well their own sensor tech works. Even the regular non-Gundam head is still more or less a workalike of the Fed's visor-type head sensor
>>24048375The entire Vigna series are CV's Gundams, this one just drops the mask so to speak.
>>24048514This. Vagina 2 also got a Gundam head.
>>24048670even Vigna Ghina already has a Gundam face with a visor and no v-fin, you take off the outer armor and it's spitting image of F91 actually. If you read between the lines for all the Vigna Ghina series suits it seems like CV was intending to use it as their Gundam-like symbol when supplanting the Earth Federation.
>>24047905I would not be surprised if this is the second Cluster unit. Perhaps it has a red coloring like F90 Unit 2 initially had? Or it's grey, foreshadowing Cluster Kai.
and of course then there's Vigna Ronah

>>24048835Which colony got destroyed here?
>>24050079it's the Zebra Zone, there's a bunch of drifting wreckage from various stations and colonies
>>24050085By now I'd fully believe that Zeon loyalists would have fled past Jupiter and developed a standalone empire on Titan with colonies in Saturn's rings, primarily since it has its own separate helium deposits and resources that the Federation couldn't regulate
>>24050125except that there's no proof or hint of anything like that or in general any human development past JupiterZeon remnants hiding out around Jupiter has been offhandedly mentioned since Zeta times if not even earlier, this is just the first time we're getting them properly featured in a serious story
>>24050128The only reason there'd be for nothing being there is a law banning development past there. If the planet and its moons have resources, it would be logical that people would try to find them unless there was some steep punishment for leaving the limits of the existing colonies
>>24050132Wrong.
>>24050136A group opposing the Federation and Jupiter empire would not obey their laws or warnings of "falling off the edge of space". But I guess you're the head writer of Crossbone and you want to reveal all the planets past Jupiter were destroyed by a black hole or Angel Call deployment or some other flavor of nihilist Feddie-biased slop
>>24050139again, the fundamental assumptions behind your premise are just factually wrong and you aren't adressing them
>>24050142I'm basing my premise on the actual resources of the planet and its moons in real life. I'm not going to entertain any Fedwank of the entire universe past Jupiter being completely wiped from existence with no stars and then being told the universe was always that way for 13 billion years

>>24050155Anon, Gundam isn't real life. We have no colonies beyond Earth right now, yet you're talking like Federation bases already exist past Earth
>>24050157you being illiterate to boot would explain a lot ngl
>>24050161>the same reason why there's no development beyond Jupiter in real life.Interstellar colonies aren't even a thing yet, they won't be for another 50 years at least. I'm not the one getting defensive about Gundam factions being real

I mean I guess a Saturn Zeon would probably not give af about getting revenge or returning to Earth since they're already unintentionally fullfilling Zeon Deikun's philosophy and have pretty much separated far from Earth at that point.I mean the only reason Jupiter has interest in the Earth is because the followers of a new age cult lead by a guy with a hair bun are still trying to test his space jesus queen puppet theory to rule the solar system and Crux's space north korea remnants want to blow up Earth because the EFF slighted him 70 years ago
>>24050292A Saturn Zeon would likely split in two groups and die infighting, because that's what Zeon always does.
>>24050321Neptune Zeon will get it right, trust
>>24050292Realistically I just can't imagine Saturn settlements working, even small research stations are hard to imagine. It's just freakishly far and distant.More than twice as far away as Jupiter and even that only has colonies because H3 is a critical strategic resource. And it's still the total boonies. Mars was colonized but better options turned up so it turned into even more of a backwater shithole despite ostensibly being closer. The overwhelming, crushing majority of human society and development is within the range of Moon's orbit and there's just no real drive for meaningful expansion beyond it. It's just not how economics work here due to the nature of the world order.
>>24050466Jupiter's monopoly on H3 can't last forever, since even by the time of Crossbone Dust, they're sending research missions out to those boonies to search for resources to extract Saudi Arabia was also considered "the boonies" until oil was discovered there
>>24050485it's not about H3 monopoly, it's about lack of technology, funds and incentives for itSpace was colonized for the sake of continuing the capitalistic model of constant, unrelenting growth in a way that didn't harm the elites of the system. This is already handled within the scope of the Earthsphere plus resources extracted from Jupiter and the asteroid belt. Funneling all the growth here is just cheaper and more effective, there's no drive or reason for trying to expand across the entire Solar System or whatever.
>>24050488Why did any of our civilizations expand throughout history anyway instead of just dying out instantly for wasting the resources of their designated territories
>>24050504not at all what I'm saying but I get the feeling you don't really care about that anon
>>24050506I do You're saying all of UC will end when the last remnants of Jupiter and Earth die
>>24050511Not at all????
>there's no band of 4 and a half Zeek larpers hiding out in Saturn's orbit so humanity is facing extinction
>>24050512But you're saying there's nothing preventing that exact fate because it's not seen as necessary to prepare for
>>24050514Realistically, how many zeeks do you need to create a secret colony in the boonies like Saturn and how long would it take?Let's assume that the manpower problem could eventually be solved by cloning, because realistically there's no way to get a large number of civilians this far in any relevant time frame with no support/trade whatsoever.A one way trip to Mars as a small fleet is around half a year by the time of F90.
>>24050528depends. Do you mean a secret military facility that gets occasional contact and supplies from other groups? I reckon just a couple hundred will be just fine. For a completely self-sufficient society? Millions.
>>24050528There's no need to make it out there. Colonies are space ships themselves. They could built it anywhere and send it out to an eventual orbit around whatever they wanted. The realistic caveat to that - and something gundam just completely ignores all the time - is that really there's no way to keep that shit hidden. Like we're talking about stuff that just hobbyist astronomers in the present day could possibly notice, nevermind stuff like the James Webb. It's just super fucking easy to see basically anything in space when it's mostly nothing and ships/constructs are radiating thermal energy because life needs heat to begin with.
>>24050531>But humanity totally won't end when Jupiter runs out of helium. >It'll still exist because... IT JUST WILL OKAY!!
>>24050534even thinking humanity can "run jupiter out of helium" is a funny conceptlike bro you don't get how big space is nevermind jupiter I dunnojust the amount of helium in Jupiter right now is several times the mass of the earth, just the fucking helium man. what the fuck are you even talking about though?
>>24050535bloody good question innit
>>24050535If Jupiter ends, humanity ends That's the default end of UC, that's how Bandai wants it, how Tomino wants it, how you want it. They're inherently intertwined and it's not meant to be violated or questioned.
>>24050538jesse what the fuck are you talking about

>>24050544he reads like the typical schizo who haunts a few threads here and always carries these fucking weird ass ideas and assumptions but this is all even weirder cus it's just hardcore fanfic pushing basically
>>24050531>There's no need to make it out there. Colonies are space ships themselves. They could built it anywhere and send it out to an eventual orbit around whatever they wanted. Is it really that easy? I feel like there are limits you will run into and that you will need a ton of resources to even begin.Good point on making it 100% secret though. Realistically, Mars and Jupiter shit only happened because EF didn't give a fuck until it was too late.
>>24050539Who?
>>24050562thing is Mars and Jupiter weren't, like, 100% flawlessly hidden either. They were maybe like 60% or so, it's just that Federation really only needed them to be 40% hidden as an excuse to not put in the effort and pretend there's nothing happening
>>24050562>Is it really that easy?I mean, yeah, pretty much with space and orbital mechanics. Technically we wouldn't really be talking about any of the classic O'neil cylinders because any kind of habitat out at Saturn is going to completely rely on artificial lighting, but that's about the only real change needed to be made. There are absolutely complexities to really doing it, but realistically this is precisely how space mega constructs work really. To go back to anime, we see colonies being moved a couple times and obviously you know they can just be dropped on Earth. Anything you build in space can ultimately have a thruster strapped to it and shoved somewhere else. You'll run into some physics limitations like maximum acceleration amounts without breaking anything etc but it's all doable.
>>24050567They weren't hidden by themselves at all. EF was aware of Mars Zeon and roughly even knew the political situation there in the years preceding CCA. And of course Jupiter was a trading partner. The only thing they had to hide was their military superweapon programs, which should be easy enough to disguise. And, of course, to not randomly attack with no disguise, while leaving witnesses and evidence.
>>24050567Mars and Jupiter both have the advantage of settlements existing that are supposed to be there and the ability to hide production underground for illicit activities. That said pretty much any coming and going or fleet movements would be so easy to see and lots of things just kinda don't give a shit about how trivial it is to see things in space. Something something minovsky particles, don't worry, also bloated bureacracy where we can always just say some dude let it happen because corruption or whatever.
>>24050578it's not like it's a secret that ships travel to Mars to be fairthere's refugees, there's the odd scientist, there's private companies. Even large conglomerates like Buch have branches on Mars. There's an industry and it's connected to Earth Sphere. It's just still a backwater shithole so there ain't much of it lol
>>24050580Yeah I agree there are plenty of ways to actually keep things fairly covert with the arrangements; just saying as a whole the vast majority of works really don't consider it that heavily and "distant visibility" is just one of those fuzzy blindspots in the lore without much of a satisfying answer (personally) and something ultimately better to avoid dwelling on too long lest you question how all these fucking surprise attacks keep happeningIt kinda gets more complicated with how thorough a surveillance network Tomino ultimately envisioned on Earth in some of the novels he penned, but the same considerations don't really follow turned to the stars where it's that much easier to spot things amiss.
>>24050132>it would be logical that people would try to find them unless there was some steep punishment for leaving the limits of the existing coloniesThere is, it's called "The Sheer Vastness of Space" and Gundam wears the medal of being one of the very few science fiction works to actually take this into account in it's world-building as any form of FTL travel would buttfuck any reason these societies have to go to war. There's a reason Martians in this very series we're reading are a bit edgy and Jovians tend to be a straight up...odd...compared to their Earth Sphere counterparts; these societies not only barely connected to the supply chain of the Earth Sphere, but also importing any culture from it would be similarly difficult, so their cultures similarly developed on their own. This development obviously came with lethal degrees of difficulty and collective suffering, and the further from Earth you get, the worse those conditions become. Getting to Jupiter alone is a nightmare so bad that there is an entire fleet dedicated specifically to the task that wields their own political power simply as a result of that capability and are (generally) left alone in conflicts due to how vital that capability makes them to not only both sides of the conflict, but daily life in U.C. in general. On that note, the Jupiter Colonies employ measures the Earth Sphere would see as draconian in the interest of their survival, and it's seen as a brutal fact of life there generations had to grow up with. This is generally why you don't see colonies further out than Jupiter, and even the Jupiter Colonies only exist due to the Earth Sphere's He3 needs. So, to your point, can Zeon spread further than Jupiter? Technically, yes. Some may have even tried and died, but much like everybody else, most of them understand there's more accessible means of persevering through adversity that don't necessarily require the sacrifice of a sustainable population just to get there and set up shop.
We know humans at least expanded colonies to Venus in UC though, and even left the solar system altogether
>>24050631respectively: noand: completely different thing
>>24050631Venus is the closest planet to us, and as far as UC is concerned literally nothing relevant is going on there. It's hard to imagine there wouldn't be research stations but there's no real reason to build colonies there. When humanity's answer to space is "building enormous space colonies" there's only a few reasons you'd want to put them anywhere other than around Earth. Mars is supposed to be a holdover from before the colonies, and Jupiter is by semi-necessity of isolation and resource value meaning a civilization of some permanence out there makes sense due to the scale of operations. Unless there's a reason for there to be serious industry/a work force there to do something, the only thing you get by placing your metal can of life support in the orbit of another planet is isolation from the one place that can natively support you and society as a whole, which is kinda bad when you're in a metal can that needs maintenance and can break down and maybe kill everyone in it if something goes wrong. Practically speaking, most people aren't going to sign up for this. Same thing for leaving the solar system. As a side note that's why it's fun the generation ship in The Expanse was designed by Mormons, because honestly it is going to take a bunch of zealots to decide to venture forth into the unknown on a spaceship you will knowingly die on without ever leaving.

https://x.com/Char_Tweet/status/1050761127905251329Tsujiguchi: 10 years ago, Inoue-san from KADOKAWA told me, "We're gonna make Crossbone Gundam into an anime," and it still hasn't happened. It's about time (age-wise) to do it. Tomino: I haven't heard that from Inoue Shinichiro. If that's the case, then I'd like it to be made into a movie (venue applause).

G-Frame Crossbone obviously has its own style typical of the product line, but it also notably has design features and proportions pretty close to the manga design. Not even a hint of the Katoki design, for once.

>>24050641I feel like this is stating no spacenoids would ever be zealous enough to do that. Char turned a meteor into a base and planned to smash it into Earth, but somehow that's the absolute limit of Zeon insanity>>24050779I think it would also suffer from exposing the worst issues of UC writing, like constant the recycling of locations and faction motivations
>>24054207We do have one story with a generation ship, though - Sidestory of V. And Turn A's background includes humanity expanding out of the solar system in UC at some point. The thing is if you're gonna go fuck off from all of humanity by going to outer planets or whatever you might as well go to the generation ship idea and make the long haul to Tau Ceti so the pfhor can rape you. At least in this scenario you're going to a potentially habitable planet instead of orbiting a gas giant in a space station and being nowhere near a natural environment.
>>24054221With those there's no clear outcome, and it's likely any information those crews and colonies had was already biased towards protecting Jupiter's control of resources. If you were a Jovian elite, why would you ever invest in a mission that may threaten your hold on the market for fuel, minerals, and ore

>>24054796I still remember someone made Crossbone builds with mission packs and can't find them now for the life of me
>>24055198Not what you're looking for but have a bump
>>24055198Pretty funny the Crossbone already has like half of the mission packs built in, and the other half could just be handheld weapons
How many of the late UC miniaturized MS can fly in atmosphere? Obviously the various Victories and Beam Rotor havers can do it, but what about the Crossbones? The Jovian MS like Batallas and Thoucus? Pretty sure the F91 can do it but it's been years since I watched it
>>24055329When in doubt assume anything built with atmospheric use in mind can fly at least for some period of time. The sheer thrust ratio already made it possible in Gryps Conflict days, it's just that vast majority of suits didn't have the fuel capacity to sustain it. But with absurdly light machines the math is completely different and it's not much of an issue. Plus past a certain point Minovsky Flight and derivatives start to become standard equipment for most suits as well.Exceptions will still apply with space-specced units like Batalla or otherwise extremely specialised and unconventional models like at least some Thoucus but it's fine to assume "yeah" until proven otherwise.
>>24055329Crossbones and the F91 fly for a reasonably extended period on Earth in Steel Seven to give a direct example. Otherwise we only see it in a colony where flight is actually incredibly different (far easier to achieve) than on Earth in the movie. Cluster shows a lot more things moving a bit more freely in the air on Earth as well.
>>24055329The Crossbones can fly just fine in the atmosphere. Albeit at a much higher difficulty curve than usual due to having to juggle four overpowered thursters. These things were built to operate in zero-G environments after all.Though that says more about the skill level of the likes Seabook and Tobia. Mind you, Seabook was doing looney tunes backflips after backflips in the X-0 during his little mini arc in Ghost. And this was him being rusty from years of retirement. The first generation of Crossbone pilots really were just madmen that were built different.
>>24055207Was this ever in the manga? Always thought this was cool as fuck, probably the best FA design of the franchise
>>24055716Unfortunately his original FA Crossbone design hasn't manifested as anythingHalf Cloth is kind of a (way lamer for my money) revisit of it and it did appear in.. Love and Piece? I forget, the Zabine recruitment story.
>>24055714>>24055356>>24055335But is it 079-like "big jump" or can they actually fly "traveling" distances? Could a Crossbone fly form one military base to another or can it only jump up to slap a helicopter out of the air and then land back down?
>>24055749there's a tremendous difference between flight in combat and long-range travel
>>24055749>can they actually fly "traveling" distancesYes.Presumably guzzles up gas and energy like a motherfucker compared to a unit actually built for Earth gravity, but yes.
>>24055749Overall not much has been concretely said to give you an answer 100% backed by canon or anything, but like I said it's implied they are at least traveling a decent distance in Crossbone Steel Seven (as I recall, maybe I'm wrong?). We don't know how much fuel these things actually hold or the rate they use them at to fly. They did give some stats for these things in Zeta, but Gundam stats are never much to put that much stock in. Ultimately most MS are short range. They just don't carry that much fuel (broadly speaking) for extended sorties, whether on space or Earth. Until you get to the Minovsky fliers which turn fusion power into flight, the fuel reserves aren't there for most MS to have good range. Only proper TMS like the Zetas, Gaplants, Ankshas etc tend to have fuel. Base Jabbers are range extenders as much as they are flight-enablers, two sides of the same coin really. So, it's tough to put any real parameters on it. Could a Crossbone fly from one base to another? Well, I doubt it'd be able to fly from New Yark to California, off the top of my head. Everyone also plays fast and loose with stuff cus at the end of the day these are entertaining stories and not super hard scifi where anyone can tell you the total onboard fuel, burn time, etc of any of these. Who fucking knows, basically, but MS are usually given operating times measured in minutes and not hours for anything relying on conventional thrust.
>>24055765When Seabook temporarily took the X-0 from Font during his mandatory "Gundam protagonist gets tired of war and runs away" episode, he notes that the X-0 was nearly out of juice. Font flew straight from their base to Seabook's current home. Without getting into nerd numbers and statistics, the simplest answer here is that Crossbones can handle Earth Atmosphere flight just fine. But its probably not fuel efficient.
>>24055772> Crossbones can handle Earth Atmosphere flight just fine. But its probably not fuel efficient. You can honestly probably say that for most mobile suits in that era really. Unless it's specifically a suit built for long distance travel, your average suit in that era could probably travel and take you wherever you want long as you're willing to foot the fuel usage bill. Otherwise, it's fucking inefficient and you're better off riding a dedicated transport vehicle.
>>24055772Yeah I have no idea what the distance is there but it never read as a particularly long flight to me I guess. Searching for the MDS unit in Steel Seven seemed to imply they were flying around a little while in it somewhere which is why I think of that sequence. It's been a while though.Yeah I'm not saying it can't fly or anything. All about fuel efficiency, indeed.I'd like to reiterate again getting into the weeds on this is tricky because when you go to this level you have two options: take things done exactly as they are (which can end up really contradicatory in examples), or try to find the interpretation (you) think is most proper. Individual stories and creators just naturally have their own ideas of how things work and there's no holy bible to adhere to here. Crossbone and Sentinel are two wildly different interpretations of how Mobile Suits and MS combat works, for instance. At some point you have to make a choice on what claims you like more.

>>24057232holy fuck the only other person that likes Twilight Axis??Tristan really is so neat, on the basic level I consider it Alex with all my gripes fixed up, and on a deeper level it has some really cool ideasOn one hand it's a SNRI/Buch secret test model, a conspicuous, ultimately low power machine that's merely helping set the stage before the big moves looong after its timeAnd on another it's the would-be Amuro Gundam that then served as a practice unit for Cyber Newtypes, which themselves exist because Federation wanted a controllable replication of Amuro's capabilities. It's even using Nu's beam rifle. It's like a shadow of Amuro's legacy, something he can't be seriously blamed for but still existing because of him. Which can also track with how the memory of Amuro (and Axis Shock as a whole) still weighs heavily on everything AT LEAST until the end of Cosmo Babylonia. And Tristan ends up clashing with a red Zaku III that never found the partner it was made for. Just like Alex. Two old husks that aren't just past their prime, they never even had their prime in the first place. Just dregs of the Universal Century battling it out in Axis, in the cold void of space. Just a forgotten little incident that serves as another brick for what will come after. And nothing will change...
