IT'S ACTUALLY GETTING RELEASED WORLDWIDE !!!

I wonder if any of the old collabs will get re-ran for the global version. The ones for Digimon and Ghost In The Shell had pretty decent designs and would probably do well for pushing the gachashit in global.
    >>
    Kabuto or Kuwagata?
    >>
Survivors was shit so it's good that we can get a real Medabots game.
    >>
    >>24006870
Rights issues will probably prevent that.
    >>
    >>24006839
surprised jp is alive at all. if they don’t run collabs then just play jp
    >>
    >>24006870
I hope they will, these are the best parts.
    >>
    >>24006870
    >>24006897
Yeah, the rights issues will probably prevent a bunch of older collabs from being rerun in the Global English version, but the big name ones that even casuals are familiar with will likely be retained. Digimon, Mega Man, and so on are high possibilities, I'd think... but properties like Mashin Hero Wataru is "literally who?" tier unknown outside of Japan.
    >>
that's going to be an interesting day 1, they have six years of events to get caught up on or something
    >>
    >>24006889
The main bot for S is both fused together
    >>
    >>24007252
They'll likely just start from wherever the Japanese release is and never bother with the past stuff.
    >>
    >>24007798
i'm not a gacha expert by any means but that means that many years of premium currency are just going to not be in circulation, right? i'd imagine that would be really bad for longevity

How aggressive is the monetization on a scale of Limbus Company (actually F2P) to Dragonball Legends (Take out a goddamn loan)
    >>
    >>24008352
i played for maybe the first year or so completely F2P without feeling like i missed anything, but i don't know how much extra stuff they've added since then. i do also recall having suspiciously good luck with the gachas that i did pull though. i remember that when you did pull, you had a chance to get either one part (head, l. arm, r. arm, legs) or an entire medarot, which was pretty shitty. i think there were also rumors about seeded accounts, that some accounts were literally programmed to get better rolls more often, but i never knew for sure if that was cope or not
    >>
    >>24008361
    >you had a chance to get either one part (head, l. arm, r. arm, legs) or an entire medarot, which was pretty shitty
Oh fuck, the usually Medarot style of getting only one part from a defeated enemy does sound pretty shitty with the limited resources a gacha gives you
    >>
    >>24008380
i mean on paper it was really, really gay but i personally do not remember getting too horribly fucked over by that. i'm a bit of a gambling addict so i've dipped a toe into a lot of gacha games and medarot S does not stand out as a bad one in my mind
    >>
    >>24006839
    Very great news.
    >>
    >>24007988
Maybe theyve added it since I last played but the only issue is there is no skip. You have to auto battle grind everything.

If they added skipping I'd like to know though, would be worth getting back into
    >>
    >>24008352
I mean.. maybe I was just really lucky but I basically a majority of the bots when I had been playing without even needing pitty. Got all the digi collabs, megaman collabs, zoids, only time I missed stuff is when I'd be burnt out and just not play. As long as you play daily you're pretty much fine. Although as the game went on they did start putting gacha currency in less and less stuff but that was like really late into it. The game started out fairly generous

When I was forced to leave the game, PvP was part of the dailies. Some days you could not get matches.

    >Battle (battle/spt) - tutorials 1 and 2 are quality checked. The other aren't used.
    >Help/Info (mdr/spt) - ~900 files. This seems to be the medawatch files which includes medaparts, memos, skill descriptions, 3 tutorials quality checked. >Translations don't break the game but look rather ugly until quality checked/formatted

So MTL and the github makes it sound janky as fuck. Also the project lead is ESL so that gives me even less confidence but better than nothing ig

    >>

    >>
    >>24012623
The story isn't 100% translated--the stuff that couldn't be fed through MTL were left as-is, and when the translation is applied, the game crashes at certain points in the story, such as when the player character gets kidnapped. A lot of Medabot part descriptions are left untranslated as well for the same reason, being that MTL just doesn't touch some of them.
    >>
    >>24014022
Code Geass seems like an obvious crossover choice, and would probably perform well enough, but if I could pick any one series without paying attention to marketability, I'd kill to have a Dai-Guard or Godannar crossover.
    >>
    >>24014022
    NG and VS Knight Lamune
    >>
    >>24014022
There's been so many collabs already that I don't really know what else could be done.
A feature with Capcom's Armored Warriors/Cyberbots would be nice; Capcom could use the PR to release a new game for the IP (lol) and it could work well with Medarot, considering AW's gimmick was replacing parts of your giant robot on the go and the Cyberbots' roster is made up of different combinations.
    >>
    >>24015536
I'm sure they could milk Mega Man a bit more, and we might get a Classic series collab to celebrate Dual Override's release or something. Alternatively, if we're talking other Capcom IPs that are /m/-adjacent, a Gotcha Force collab would be truly bonkers.

    >>
    >>24006892
I thought it was an okay Survivors clone at first but then I realized the only additional content was then trickling in one or two bots at a time.
And the "events" to give you "freebies" literally required you to invest money into the game if you wanted get far enough in the event to get "free" unit. What a deranged system.
    >>
    >>24021119
Yeah, it was the egregious monetization that killed any interest in Survivors for me--from what I understand, Medabots S is way less greedy, and much more F2P friendly by comparison. If we establish a pattern and Medabots S released when the game's next anniversary occurs, then we're sure to have all the current content, same as JP.

Well, disregarding old collab stuff, anyhow. Nonetheless, I'm hoping that Medabots S serves to give Imagineer a much more stable foothold in English speaking regions and lets them experiment a bit with localizing more previously JP-only Medabots stuff, like the card battle game and the Classics Plus collection for the Switch.
    >>
    >>24021698
God yeah that's what it really was for me. Survivors is ridiculously greedy, like more than a gacha game normally would be. It doesn't help that the base gameplay loop is incredibly tedious and boring with almost no enticing payout, which doesn't encourage players to keep playing.
    >>
    >>24021767
Yeah, Vampire Survivor clones and Idle RPGs are amongst the worst mobile games, as far as monetization goes--they will tempt you into busting out your wallet at every given opportunity, shove ads into your face when you want something for free, and give you fuck-all in terms of F2P rewards.

As much as Survivors felt like a test case to see if localizing Medabots S was feasible, I kinda feel like this game getting localized is similarly going to be a springboard for Imagineer to localize some of their other stuff down the road--I'm not expecting to see the Card Robattle RB and Classics Plus collection get English releases within the North American region within a year or so, but I feel like Medabots S is almost definitely going to be their actual barometer to determine whether or not Medabots has a future in the west now that they finally won that court case against that one Spanish fuckwit who tried pulling a Harmony Gold on Imagineer over the Medabots name.

I played the Japanese release for a while, it's pretty close to the classic rpg gameplay for sure. You have up to three Medarots, the third can be swapped for a guest one from either your friends list or an NPC in the story event sometimes, and it does the sort of ATB thing with your Medarot running from your side to the center of the stage after being given an order, doing its action, the running back to your side for the next command. You can mix and match head/torso, legs, left arm, right arm, and medal and equip medafighters to each of your 3 Medabots for more bonuses, theres also an item you can use to allow for color changes on a Medabot so you have further options for making things feel a bit more unique.
It was pretty alright for mobile gachashit.

    Excellent taste

I know this is an ice-cold take, but it's wild how much less visually appealing Blazer-Multi is in a visual sense--like... the main Mobile Armor-looking form is cool, but then it loses all that aura once it purges its armor/Medachanges. It looks way less appealing by comparison, especially when you consider its much more iconic predecessor, Blazermate.

I have to wonder, since Blazermate was retconned to now have a model number of BLZ00, if Blazer-Multi will similarly be retconned to have a model number of BLZ01, or if they'll rewrite history and give Blazermate a new "successor" model that actually has Aura, with or without a Medachange.

    >>
    >>24047374
There's assumptions that the Global release of Medabots S is due sometime in January 2027, likely to coincide with the JP version's 7th anniversary, and simplify logistic in the long run--no need to celebrate two separate anniversary events for different versions when you can celebrate both in the same month and be done with it. Given that they seem to have waited until Survivors had its first anniversary before dropping its Global version, the timing seems very deliberate.

I know it's due to the game's art direction, but it's funny how Medarot NAVI looks so futuristic yet it takes place within Ikki's childhood (between 3 and 4 IIRC).
