Rob Liefeld Edition
>>23988124The Alien comic had a bunch
It's not often that you see mech made out of sand.
>>23988124
>>23994271
>>23988315And some badass ones at that.
>>23990599
Japan found out about MotU recently and it was great
>>23995565This always needed giant robot and Minolith's Shogo units.
Bumping with GO! DEXTER'S FAMILY GO!
Mytek The Mighty was a 60's British weekly comic strip that ran in the magazine Valiant, about a giant ape that appeared wholly organic from the outside but was indeed a robot, one that was semiautonomous but could also be directly piloted from inside. & it indeed fought several other giant robots & monsters. It's been fully reprinted, but if you're curious & don't feel like that "paying for stuff" bullshit,https://archive.org/details/compilation-mytek-the-mighty/
>>23995554Is Shogun Warriors (and therefore, most 70s Super Robot shows) canon in the Marvel Universe? I know Showa Godzilla is; they just don't call him Godzilla in universe.
>>24003437British comics have the coolest mechs
>>24003335What the hell is this, the Gundam equivalent of Diesel?
We all know this was the superior Western Mecha
>>24008884Exo-squad was fantastic for a cartoon of that time period. The nods to ww2 history, the treatment of collaborationism, etc impressed me when I first saw it.
Halo 4 was shit but I really liked the mantis
>>24008884>>24008916The animation budget took a nosedive in season 2. And then leaving season 2 on a cliffhanger when they didn't get renewed was a big fuck you to the audience.
>>23988124Obligatory
>>24003335Surprisingly good YAS impression
Kingdom Come had some weird characters
>>24013767
You now remember that italian Donald Duck had his very own hulkbuster
>>24013783European Disney was wild
>>24013783iirc Mickey had a Grenkaiser-ish sorta guy too?
>>24013926I never cared much about Mickey so I can't say, but Donald got a fuckton of /m/ related stuff in italian comics because the artists who created the PK spinoff universe are massive weebs and /m/en.There's a few designs that are genuinely good even beyond the fact that it's stuff aimed at young children, it does help that the magazines often came in with some pretty cool /m/ toys like small hovercrafts, transforming vehicles or various action figures that kids can assemble on their own.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoYUmSyp2Kk
>>24013767Leave it to Alex Ross to come up with Mecha Beatles. They look faithfully Japanese.
>>23995845>Crystal, give me Sky Knight with Orbital Interceptor helmet! POWER XTREME!!!
>>24013783The Legs Weaver series frequently featured giant robots, and they popped up in the Sillage series occasionally.
Genuinely a pretty good show, IMO you can tell actual weebs who cared made it.
>>24015789Nathan Never also has a few mechs, some of them seemed inspired by old Kawamori's stuff outside of the various terminators.
>>24015797I was shocked when I first saw Chiro's uniform. It reminded me of Cyborg 009's original uniform design from 1966 (to be continued)
>>24015797(continued) ...but Chiro had the tribal facial marks of Bogart-sama, the second in command of the Black Ghost cabal (page 116 Cyborg 009, vol 9)
>>23995827>Minolith
The earliest Giant robot I remember from western comic books was the Fourth Sleeper from Captain America.
The Fifth Sleeper's main armament was poison gas nozzles on its left arm. It also had a pincer claw and ray-beam.
>>24024309>>24024312Jack Kirby Mechs are cool
>>24003667Amen to that
>>24024312Claws need to make a comeback.
>>24024309Speaking of which, I remember the old Captain America cartoon (the one that was mostly a slideshow) featured a Nazi superweapon in the form of a giant humanoid with wings. Utter disappointment when it turned out to be just a human-shaped flying bomb.
>>23990599The head looks like that of Xabungle.
>>24023130sexo
>>24026183The Fourth Sleeper - Jack Kirby art. Inked and colored for contrast.
>>24026426The First Sleeper was a humanoid(ish) clunk-bot. The Second Sleeper was a flying manta-ray style airobot with magnetic powers. The Third Sleeper was a skull-shaped bomb on fanjets. Once they gattaied, they were supposed to drill to the Earth;s core and explode with catastrophic results.
>>24026194One of my favorite childhood toys was "Claw" from the Ding-A-Ling line of robot toys. I liked the compound "eyes" on its "face".
>>24026194Would you consider the shredder appendages on the Z'Gok to be claws?
>>24026183Jack Kirby's "Robot Face" portrait.
>>24026183Jack Kirby's "Strike Overlord" robot, drawn fifty-six years ago.
Kronos stomping its way across the desert (1957)
Dynamo Joe is a great 15 issue comic series that from the 1980s that i really enjoy that not many know about & thus is quite cheap on ebay
One of Frank Miller's last great works, and it just so happens to be /m/.
Robbie the Robot from Forbidden Planet (1956). A high point in Western robot design.
>>24041057that reminds me I never dug into if Robert Kinoshita was 2nd gen or what
I collected this comic in the 90s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oauKCADALw
How the fuck did My Life as a Teenage Robot win an Emmy Award, but not Megas XLR?
Does One Eye's War Machine from The Thief and the Cobbler count?
>>24047125that reminds me, was there anything from either of those (or anything else /m/) in that big CN leak?
Watch the skies coming at you.. a hero of metal hue, he locks horns with the disaster for the red and the white and the... wait no, wrong show.
>>24009892western Evangelion
>>24050174shut up
Say what you will about what Disney did to Star Wars, some of the droid designs introduced in the past decade were based.
>>24054951Based on what?
>>24048183this is kinda neat looking
>>23995565>no Iron Giant>no Powerpuff Dynamo>no RoboDexo>no T-Roboatleast Dynamo Joe and SRMTH made it in. I wonder if that one Mech X4 series disney put out was any good
>>24033822It really is a shame we never got Jack Kirby's Gigantor comic. Atleast we were fortunate enough to get a glimpse at what could have been in the Mechano issue of strange tales.
>>24038861I recommended it in a previous western /m/ thread. Surprisingly not many anons were familiar with it.>>24040775Big Guy and Rusty are top tier. I wish they had become household names. It's a shame their cartoon wasnt met with greater fervor.
>>24015797They made the robot look so lame for some reason though, why does it look like a retro Western robot toy?
>>24047125I like the design of the evil robot queen, too bad MLAATR is such an unserious show, this design could've worked great in a setting with some actual stakes at risk like Samurai Jack.
>>24038861I wonder what Strange Brain Parts would think of Dynamite Joe, since it’s an obscure comic from the decade he grew up in.In fact, he hasn’t directly covered an overtly /m/ comic since his video on Marvel’s Micronauts series 6 years ago:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rwN-014byAo
>>24063620It's an action comedy. This shouldnt have to be explained to you. The series even shared alot of the same creative dna as the powerpuff girls. Did you ever watch the Armagedroid episode? It's one of the most high stakes of the series. Alot of that late 90's CN dna is on prominent display then too.
