It is said that men are suffering a crisis of identity over the loss of their usefulness in traditionally masculine roles e.g. provider. That may be true but I think women are suffering a worse crisis that drives much worse consequences than the male one. Women increasingly express the sentiment that they see no reason to have a man because whatever a man is supposed to do i.e. traditional roles such as earning money, handling finances, fixing the car etc, they can do just as well. This is not men getting worse as most men still do these things, this is women failing at adjusting their expectations to the new times since men no longer do these things *for* them. We can see that their accusation of men being unable to cope with the end of traditional gender roles is nothing more than projection.Why do I argue this crisis is worse than the one men are no doubt undergoing? Because men have no issue finding reasons to have women beyond doing the house chores. It's not even an expectation with men finding partners that they will do all or most of the chores. Prolonged bachelorhood a hundred years of liberal education ensured men are able and comfortable doing house chores. The replacement of the remaining female duties in the relationship, mainly sex and companionship are only attempted by a minuscule parcel of the male population, the ones who would never reproduce anyway. This is not the case for women. Women who find themselves in adulthood performing all the tasks traditionally associated with men have a hard time finding a reason to be in a LTR as they are able to replace all of a man's functions. Not only do they work and pay their own bills, unlike men they have no need to lock down a partner to have regular sex, and they can get a simulacrum of companionship from short term relationships and social media. Most women today are the personification of gen z boss and a mini and while a handful of gooners refusing to breed aren't a big deal, most women doing so is. This is the reason for the almost scientific constant of declining birth rates in developed countries. Women cannot answer the question "what's the use of a man?" once they gain financial independence. Even if it is the case that most men also don't want to breed, due to reproduction dynamics a lack of men is never a problem for fertility rates. The future of humanity depends on women figuring out this answer.
