Naked Lunch came out in 1959.
    Gravity's Rainbow in 1973.
What do you think, was Pynchon inspired by the technique? Did he write a normal novel and then just cut up paragraphs/sentences and put them quasi-randomly back together?

I don't know because I haven't read either of those books.

Probably. Burrows himself also came to the conclusion eventually that the cut up technique was simply an early conceptualization of what it means to think and put together thoughts. A cut up board is basically an inspiration board, a press kit, a set of dossiers or articles. But yeah, Pynchin is super based so I’m sure he employed a lot of these methods very loyalty and if your cover is an illustration of a human with medical diagram superimposed over it, there’s a 90% chance you are a huge fan of Burroughs

Naked Lunch is not a cut up. Nova Trilogy was.

In Pynchon’s method, I would see, rather, an engagement with high-level ideas that are given a human dimension through his zany, silly humor.

Post a paragraph or page from Gravity's Rainbow that resembles the Nova trilogy at all. It has often been speculated that parts of Gravity's Rainbow were compiled from unpublished short stores (Byron, &c), but there's really no indication he used cut up. If he did work in short stories, like Byron's, he also went back into the text and wrote in some set-up so it wasn't jarring

Obviously not, although he was clearly influenced by Burroughs.
