>>25620791>>25620801I will never understand why people like him commit suicide. Actually super cool dudes. Successful, famous, wealthy. Yeah yeah suffering is relative blah blah but still. Him Chester, Layne, Chris, all these great people committing suicide, it doesn't make sense
>>25621930I'm a huge AIC and Soundgarden fan (Linkin Park not so much) but I suspect that there's more to it than we think.
>>25623184if suicidal thoughts consists not just one block but multiple bricks and you are the ghost haunting your own home looking for peace, then every bit helps.
>>25621930It was a bit of a shock to me when I heard it. All I can figure was he finally got this hot Italian girlfriend and spent a long time with her and her kids and thought he finally achieved that kind of thing and then saw some French newspaper where she was very publicly fucking a 20 year old guy on the side and just said "Fuck this shit" and hung himself in the closet or intentionally OD'd or whatever it was. Of all the guys he seemed for sure like one that had broken orbit of the dogshit side of life and was relatively free. I guess not.

>>25620617Best thing about it is that it's a true story.
>>25620617I wrote just such a novella. It was on Amazon Kindle, but I took it down because no one bought it, other than family and friends. Should I put it back and link it here?
>>25625449Why do women do shit like this? Its getting tiresome
>>25625896If not, check out The Fire Within (aka Will o' the Wisp). There's also a more recent French novel that I think has suicide in the title. The former is better than the latter, but still underwhelming.
>>25620791watched anthony bourdain: parts unknown for the first time the other day. don't get it.
>>25625905If it was a 20 year old girl whateverA 40 year old lady with kids who has a secure life and isn't fucked up on drugs or something? It's edging out of just being kind of gross into actually being somewhat vicious.Say this to a woman and she'll give back something like "Yeah ok when we're scared we're scared for our lives, when you're scared your scared your feelings might get hurt" no matter that our feelings are what puts their lives at hazard to begin with. It's not a fair distribution of power, that point is obvious, but that doesn't change that a lot of the time it's two sides of the same coin. In Bourdain's example though it wasn't her life her attacking his emotions put at risk, but his life. Do the old Reddit gender swap and see what that story looks like if his cheating got her to kill himself. I don't think incels have a thought process that is sound, but that doesn't mean that every idea they might think must be incorrect. This post is also a little too "Look what they did to my boy" to be making it about a guy I never met. But whatever, I guess today I'm the fag.
>>25625449Yeah I kind of get it, getting played by a whore like that is horrible. However I don't know, it makes me thing that we're all very fragile in the end and when I sit by myself and contemplate the chasm of my soul I sometimes wonder if I would an hero if something like that happened to me

>>25626140The show changed the way travel and food television was done. I can see it being harder to appreciate coming from a background where half of the travel YouTubes you've seen are basically doing it by Bourdain's book, but it was very different when it was new. When the show came out The Sopranos was still on the air, during the big shift in the second half of the 2000s where TV started getting a lot better and movies started getting a lot worse. I could also say that his book is a better than the show but the book was the first one to really show the restaurant industry to the world, so like the show it changed its genre. I think he just had an instinct for that, finding a way to do something that was a little more meaningful than the way it was being done up until then.My dad didn't like Bourdain. Thought he was a self important cool guy. But I never saw that in him. He liked travel like I do, he worked a real job for a long time despite having more artistic tastes than most people like I did, he liked to see the different minds and people around him not just blab about how they did pizza different or whatever, he wanted to have a full, real life. It was a show about food, yeah, but I think it was done right and was a show about other things as well.
>>25626165i’m with your dad. i can see how he appeals to certain types of people though (i wont elaborate on what types).
>>25626163This bitch trying to say I can't menstruate? Don't you tell me what I can and can't do.
>>25626167I see that picture of him sitting on one stool and eating off another in Vietnam and it's an experience I had exactly. I was on that fucking stool. I was eating that same dish. It's all humble little choices the people make over there about how to build a human life and they get so many things right that people back home don't even have a way to appreciate before they experience it. Little images like that in his shows fill me with nostalgia, sometimes almost overwhelming nostalgia. Another travel show can go to the same spot to film someone eating the same food and they miss all the stuff the really matters to me about the experiences I had there. There are parts of Bourdain's TV shows that don't connect or are kind of goofy or slapdash, but when it's something he really cares about in place that he really likes all that stuff that I value really comes through the program. I don't think it's necessarily a difficult thing to make happen, at least it doesn't seem like it, but it's really rare for that to get captured and communicated, so maybe it isn't so easy after all. Anyway his book was good and his TV show a good and he seemed like a person that if you interacted with him he added to your life, which I did in a very minor way, and he did add something to my life in a minor way, so I'm giving credit where it's due.
