>>25619593In general, politics and political books, theory, """science""" is all a complete waste of time because it's a profession only the lowest IQ people are interested in really participating in, so ultimately everything just gets decided by the most barbaric gorilla in the room and then papered over with false rationales after the fact to make it seem logical and well intentioned. The truth is that for every Lincoln (and this is meant to say that Lincoln understood how to work the system, not that he was an angel) you get 10-20 worthless playacting warlords where everyone would've probably been better off if a horse was in charge. In fact, in all the hoopla about DEI and merit and all that, not one peep about how false and ridiculous the field of "political science" is. Look up how many of the elite and their children have polisci degrees. That ought to tell you how much of a charade the whole thing is. The world would be much better if every polisci grad was fed a shotgun. If you're really curious, I'd just find biographies of leaders you're interested in. Trying to get the mentality in which they made their decisions is more relatable than anything else.
>>25619613political philosophy is interesting, political science not so much. that's when it gets technical and soulless.
>>25619630>political philosophy is interestingNo, it's not because it either leads to idealism, fanaticism or delusion. No philosophy survives the grind of power, which must be pragmatic to its core if it is to survive. You can be for or against certain things and sure, that can form the barebones of a "philosophy"...but not really, even that is a delusion. No less than if a mathematician would call the standard order of operations a philosophy. Certain policies work best in certain situations, just like you'd use calculus here and division there. That's all. Failure to recognize that is how people cage themselves in things called ideologies. Worse still is the persistent belief that ideologies have personally identifying and empowering aspects. But that's why it's called the opiate of the masses.
