Just finished this amazing rendition of the Epic. Whoever's read it, which translation of the Iliad and Odyssey would you recommend that resembles Armitage's poetic, semi-transliterative style? I read Wilson's Iliad last year and it left more to be desired. Is Fagles my guy?
>>25617844Haven't read Armitage.Generally, I would recommend Lattimore's translation of Homer. If you want something more poetic, you can give Alexander Pope's translation a try as it is a masterwork of English poetry. Third place would probably be Chapman's translations as they occupy a place between the academic nature of Lattimore and the poetic genius of Pope.

>>25617844Emily Wilson is the go to, but you hate filled chuds are a pest!!
25617964Do better.
>>25617844Pope is based. Fagles turns Homer into capeshit. It is good enough for your first read but you should read more literal/poetic translations, too.

Is this an ad?
