What type of smarts is more beneficial for reading and writing literature?
>>25615772I was the first of my class in history, was always struggling in maths. I am academically smart in half the shit.
>>25615790If you are poor at math then you aren't smart. It's just the way it is.
>>25615772I'm a high IQ retard
socially smart (being charismatic, and being able to read people's desires and insecurities and use them to your advantage) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>both
>>25615886>just be a psychotic manipulative narcissist, bro
>>25615772All worthless. The only "smarts" that matter in the world are casual persuasion, reading a room and cultural resonance. Everyone else are just temporary NPCs for the main characters of Earth.
In the end I don't really think there are types of smart, just different perversions and different levels of grit in their pursuit.
>>25615772I have a very logic mind and consider myself smart. Graduated in applied maths in a good university. Had my IQ clinically tested as 132 some years ago.All that to say I recently read The Stranger and didn't really get it. I do not even understand if there is something to even get. I liked the character, I agree with the whole life being absurd thing, but deep down I think there must be something else that people "get" fundamentally from this book that I simply don't. This has repeated some throughout my life and it always makes me feel a little dumb. I like webnovels and such things way more, getting lost in worldbuilding is very fun.
>>25615933Yeah, 'socially smart' people are quick thinking, smooth idiots typically. They can get by though their networking and convincing other people they know other people up to a certain point, but if they lack fundamental skill and understanding they will only succeed by getting lucky,
>>25615966It really helped me to consider Mersault to be an incarnation of Parashurama, his mother an feminine inversion of rakshasa Ravana, and the general situation at the start of the novel to be a mode of brahmacharaya. If it is ok with you sir I will not be taking the expressway.
>>25615993Are you joking?
>>25615973Socially smart intellectuals are true killers though. Unparalleled skillset. If you have both you can do anything.
That's such a cope. If you are „logically smart“ you will probably also succeed in academia. There are outliers, but (You) are not one of them. What is that image even supposed to mean? That you win debates with flat earthers on Reddit, Telegram, Discord, and Reddit by having such an immeasurably large mental capacity? Of course not all academics a smart, but almost all smart people have success in academia and possibly even in their job.t. retard NEET drop-out>>25615886>>25615936The real redpill in that regard is that you have to have good pattern recognition and logical thinking to be able to „read a room“ and all those other traits that people with so-called social intelligence have. Like with academia, not all smart people have good social smarts, but almost all people with social smarts have also cognitive abilities useful in other areas of life.
>>25615973*actual* socially smart people are 140 IQ machiavellian autists, ala epstein, peter thiel, roy cohn.the socially successful people you see on a day to day basis, i.e 100-110 IQ hot white girls usually do the same things epstein would do in their place, but fail to understand the intuition behind why people act the way they do. (usually misattributing misaligned behaviour to ideas like “oh my god sarahs such a hater!” this grants them low level social success, insofar as their opinions have mimetic values, they might be able to get jobs they had no right to get, but they can never be roy cohn.
>>25615999Maybe I am joking. But not about the expressway.
>>25616014It is a meme, anon
>>25615966what you didn't "get" is the cultural significance.during that time questioning the need for god was still heretical and absurd though wasn't vogue yet.if you already lived your life as a positive nihilist it dosent really hit the same. For me Camus best book is, the fall
>>25616017You don't have to be disgusting to be smart anon.
>>25615772if you cant get at least 10 (you)s on /lgbt/'s hornygen writing erotic fiction green texts....just give up. youre never going to make it as a modern writer
>>25615772>laptop>tiktok (mobile)Left side is fake
>>25616025Ah, this makes sense.
>>25616026yes, this is true. the ones who have been dealt the worst hand by the lord are 140 IQ autists with no social skills.you will usually find these individuals in high level academia (ivy league stem/some humanities professors) where they spend their lives quibbling over meaningless problems far removed from society. an amadeus situation, god does have favourites, they COULDVE been individuals who will have unimaginable influence on the zeitgeist for decades to come, but alas. fwiw, most thielian individuals are able to recognise these losers as one of their own who were played a bad hand by the universe and often end up using them as eunuchs (thiel and rene girard, etc.)-your friendly trvker
>>25615772Dumbass working-class Americans love this cope where they pretend like not having an education makes them more intelligent.
>>25615772"Logically smart" is really just latent potential. "Academic smart" is just building the knowledge base so your "logic smarts" have material to work with.People who are sincerely "logically smart", but not the other, are just "smart, but lazy". These people sincerely exist, but they act as if being "smart, but lazy" is the ultimate vindication, rather than it being the ultimate damnation. You are wasting your talents to engage in hedonism. And at the end of the day, you don't have the tools to exercise your intelligence anyway. Then there are people who claim they are logically smart, but aren't.
>>25616025>during that time questioning the need for god was still heretical and absurd though wasn't vogue yet.it really wasn't
>>25616064give 100 examples of absurdist, philosophical definition, literature pre-camus.
Lot of wordcel cope itt.
>>25615772Synthetic 'smarts' predominantly, but with strong enough analytical capabilities
>>25615852>>25615886what if I'm bad at both (almost failed math and I'm a loser)
>>25616046The acorn of that comes from our roots in the British working class, but we have raised it to be a mighty oak.
>>25615933yes.
>>25615772Chess is not an intelligence game. This isn't the fucking sims. It's about memorizing moves
I hate this retarded planet.
>>25615852I had bad grades in math in high school but my IQ was tested as 142 as a kid.
>>25615852TRUKE
Morally smart > ∞
smug balding white bespectacled men whose entire sense of humor and personality being predicated on "LOOK GUYS I'M BEING PRETENTIOUS IRONICALLY AND ON PURPOSE, HAHA, THAT MEANS I COULD NEVER BE PRETENTIOUS UNIRONICALLY, RIGHT??" have been a disaster for rationality and freedom of thought
>>25616272Anime and video games were made just for you.
>>25615790I was 1st in history 2nd in math and then in middle school I had a full african black classmate who so thoroughly tore down my teacher she quit her job and I lost a year of math and my parents sent me into homeschooling. I then for 2 years of home schooling read textbooks to learn. The motivation was that the earlier I got through my books I got to go play minecraft. I got 5 grades ahead on everything but because I didn’t particularly enjoy doing math I literally just skipped those books and my parents didn’t check on me. After a 3 year gap in math studies I caught back up with some light tutoring to put me back on track within a month since the amount of rote memorization in middle school math is so minimal and it’s all algebra and geometry. I didn’t ultimately fall behind I just ended up at-level in time to start high school and instead of excelling in math I just learned a couple languages, graduated college a couple years early, and became a lawyer.
Oh I’m socially crippled and though people sometimes like me it’s because they’re just very charitable for how mucu of a sperg I am and recognize my strengthsMy arch nemesis from law school was a striver guy who was super into clubs and networking but who was in the bottom 10-20% of the class because he couldn’t fathom that I didn’t care about linkedin.
>>25615772SI
>>25615772good grades doesn't make you a good writer. Being logical doesn't make you a good writer. Being well read makes you a good writer.
>>25615772>What type of smarts is more beneficial for reading and writing literature? The smarting from being whipped. See Jesus.
>>25617137Jesus didn't write anything (except in the dirt with his finger). He read some things, but all the readers and writers were very taken aback, as he was supposed to be illiterate.
>>25617164Jesus has to read every post made on this board.
>>25616014Cope with your Jewish WASP libturd bullshit. Academic smartness is absolute nonsense no matter if you portray yourself as the gigachad. I think most people know this now.
>>25617008morally smart = physically suicidalif based protags like Seo Eun-Hyun and Enkrid are anything to come by.
>>25616050How do you stop being lazy and engage in hedonism?
>>25615772The kind of intelligence that makes one realize that your question is ridiculous.
>>25615772Neither.
>>25617476Its about balance. You can seek pleasure in moderation. Even monks eat and booze it up.
>>25617029god i heckin LOVE children's cartoons and digitized action figures
>>25616050>>25616050most of them have no idea what predicate binaries or deontology is despite being "I LOVE FACTS AND LOGIC" types anyway, it's all an insincere larp
If you want to write FICTION then you should READ a lot of fiction and a decent amount of philosophy and a little bit of history and science (by this I mean natural sciences and perhaps psychology if you don't take it too seriously and recognize the aim is to use it for your stories, not yourself; this way you will not become ssri addicted bacteria person). Avoid AT ALL COSTS other people's shallow opinions and restrictions of thought, but you are already on 4chan and losing that battle if you cannot CUMpartmentalize.
>>25616687don't tell that to all the balding white men obsessed with history and politics
>25617417grow up fattie
>Academically smartNo such thing, really. An academic ABILITY is how well you apply intelligence to pre-set tasks and caps out at different points depending on how much that intelligence is being challenged. However, it matters for jack shit, genius or not, if the person never developed proper habits, is too broken to exist within the structure, or just doesn't care.
>>25617909neither of them are real.
>>25616348Yes. Most retards who do this dont realize how blatantly obvious they are, do this so people can clock you and begin to avoid you
>>25615966The Stranger is a character study, so what's most important isn't the overall message so much as it is looking into the character of Mersault. While you're reading, you should be asking yourself questions about him like:>Why does he feel this way?>What does his choice of words imply about him?>Is he being truthful (to himself or others)?>How does he differ from the (temporally relative) norms? And when you ask yourself these questions, begin to understand who, what, and why he is, then you'll "get" the book and his subsequent persecution at the end.Literary analysis is not an instinctual skill, it's a skill that needs to be at least understood before it could be implied. It's like someone saying "I'm a genius, but I broke a bandsaw when I was in shop class, so I guess I just can't do it." You have to learn these things first.
Being smart doesn't really make reading or writing more enjoyable. I guess if you aren't smart enough to be literate, it would matter, but otherwise not really.>t. 160iq
>>25617937You'd have to be an actual retard for your understanding of enjoying literature to end at having a basic reading ability.
>Chess>SmartEven the world's best chess player had already been surpassed by computers since 90s.
>>25615790>mathSNo, you're definitely still a fucking retarded, lol.
>Redditors >LogicalYou're fucking insane.
>>25617952Yeah that's why I didn't say that.
>>25615886this, sadly
>>25618020But you did. When you say that the impact of intelligence ends at functional literacy, you say you can have the maximum amount of enjoyment that intelligence can bring to literature at that point. And that's wrong.
>>25618032 Now you are making up a second thing that is still not what I said, and also not what you made up the first time. You can read my post here >>25617937, it's very short. To spell it out for you, a retard and a genius do not require the same amount of intellectual stimulation to be entertained. Maybe ask chatgpt if you don't get it.
>>25618050>frogposter is braindeadMany such cases.
>>25615772Street smarts is the only "smart" people there is (which is basically this >>25615886 >>25615936 which essentially boils down to being able to simply act on raw intuition and common sense to get shit done at once). Textbooks are a scam, over thinking is a disease, the true essence of life is pure simplicity.
>>25618076If we followed this philosophy we would still be cavemen communicating in unintelligible sounds. Cavemen and hunter gatherers were very street smart I would say.
>>25618080Not really. I mean being able to navigate life without relying on thought too much beyond the bare minimum knowledge. Nothing ever get solved in thought, only in intention and instic. The stereotype of the over-educated person that is incompetent contrasting with Simple McBrain that learn to do everything firsthand and is infinitely more reliable and practical oriented holds true for most for a reason. Cavemen weren't dumb, as humanity was once there and find ways to do things and problem solve regardless, it wasn't even backwards to nowadays, just different, not for nothing we still see what humanity did back then to reframe the insight for modern day use like evolutionary psychology and even overall scientific fields do. Read Zhuangzi/Lao Tsu and Rumi, there's only the knowledge of the absolute and our relation to it, that's the only real knowledge from which everything comes from, and the rest is relative, and ultimately transitory, and can be navigated trusting our instincts and intentions, as long as they're understood properly and unrestrained.
>>25617957English is my third language. I'm from Spain and France.
>more beneficial for reading literaturefree time>more beneficial for writing literatureIf you mean something worth reading then the person needs interesting ideas in their head and discord reddit twitter are about the least interesting places around>wow I read it on reddit so much I can write a book now!!!>more beneficial for PUBLISHING literature""""""""""academically smart""""""""" bitch can get a master's fine arts and publish her romance novel set in Europe like the last 100,000 academically smart women with the same idea
>25618109And that romance novel like those smut novels have such a high demand that they can bring no new ideas at all and sell only on the idea of being nominally new, just like dance club hits.Someone cynical could probably fine tune the romance formula that comes so naturally to women and write the literary equivalent of "dance monkey"
