I hope the white girls in her ballet class weren't too mean to her.

Fuck it. I'm going to do this just to figure out the inner workings of their minds. It may take me all day. But I'll get it done.

you should publish your findings, instant worldwide recognition

they don't actually read the books. they are just props
>>

My Aristotle's The Art of Rhetoric is Oxford whilst my Poetics is Norton Critical. To separate them based on spine colour just seems barbaric to me. The female mind continues to confound me.

sorting by publisher makes sense, especially if it's shit like penguin classics or oxford classics or loebs etc.
>>
>>25612343
Anon, everything women do (and I do mean EVERYTHING) is performative.

They don't like to read, they like to be seen as readers.

They don't have opinions and preferences, they just regurgitate whatever combinations of words they think will make them liked by the group.

And so on.

>sorting by publisher makes sense, especially if it's shit like penguin classics or oxford classics or loebs etc
Why? Sorting the bookshelf is supposed to be about making everything as quickly accessible as possible. If I want to pull a book I read 2 years ago or something I bought and haven't read yet, I'll remember the author's name before I'll remember which edition of the book I got. What logic is there to sorting by edition that isn't just aesthetics? If it is just aesthetics then that's just as silly as sorting by color

I organize them by theme

What else would you do with books that you've never read/never will read?
>>
>>25612343
I was trying to think of fun alternate ways I could organize my shelves. Right now it's pretty standard, fiction, theatre, poetry, and nonfiction with a subsection in theatre for Shakespeare and one in nonfiction for the history of print/the rare books field.
I was thinking it could be fun to organize the fiction, theatre, and poetry chronologically by date of publication, then intersperse the nonfiction by the time period of the topic, so for example a modern study of Greek mythology would go next to ancient Greek poetry and theatre.

personally I organize my books based on phonetic and associative adjacency, so my book on owls is next to the book on vowels, etc.

this has totally revolutionized the way I find books. dewey decimal fags and the rest of you are retards.
>>
>>25612343
visually oriented by the phenomenal appearance of the book cover itself, instead of oriented by ("hidden" to the eyes) essence of the book.

If you're looking for a specific book and can memorize all the books within a certain color then i suppose there's nothing wrong with organizing books by a phenomenal aesthetic system. Although eventually i could see this getting too difficult to find a book you want.

I don't know a single woman who sorts her books. None of my GFs have ever sorted their books.

Don't pretend you're above it. Books are just house decor for everybody in the age of libgen et al.

They were meant to pick and sort berries. Also every single one of them has an Adderall prescription.

commodification of books, reading as commercialization/social media hobby.

Because they like colors

Because for millions of years our male ancestors preferred to breed with such females. Or it's an autistic habit piggybacking on something else that was selected. Or it's a result of social influence. Or a combo of all this and more.
