IDK OP I think cis people just say shit sometimes. They tend to convince themselves that trans people are just men in dresses/women with pronoun pins, even if they're woke they still just think "but it's ok for men to wear dresses" etc instead of actually rethinking their preconceptions. And then when they meet actual trans people they can't square what they convinced themselves to believe with what their eyes are telling them, so they tend to blurt out dumb shit.
