I read a trans woman's post the other day. One time I went back home to see my cis wife (we were long distance while she went to school) and I went out of my way to get her some nice stuff for her birthday, and she didn’t even care. She came back out and blew out the candles and went to bed. Marriage is hard, and not enough is said about how women will not even gaf and put effort into it and then get butthurt when it collapses. Stuff like this also makes me realize how many men are just expected to suffer in silence. My first thought was even that birthday sounds better than any I’ve had in a while, although my friends did go out of their way to throw me a party years back. Men’s birthdays are 1/5 gas and people throwing parties, and 4/5 drinking alone even if you have a family.
