    Sorted by per capita quality

    Why does quality > quantity?

Is there an inflection point where quantity compensative for overwhelming quality?
    >>
It isn't that simple, a worse sidearm really doesn't matter, neither does a worse service rifle or LMG so long as they are still functional.
The areas it really matter is big ticket items like planes and tanks, they still won't win a war on their own but there is no number of 100 year old planes that will defeat a modern air force while we have seen insurgents with 100 year old small arms win.

    >Is there an inflection point where quantity compensative for overwhelming quality?
quantity bets quality if you can successfully utilize force concentration
rule-of-thumb is that force multiplies exponentially, so jumping someone 2 on 1 makes your forces 4x as effective
so the tipping point would be relatively close, if you outnumber your enemy two to one, then the enemy has to outgun you 4 to 1 to tip the odds

but quality beats quantity if you can divide and conquer
if you are outnumbered two to one, but outgun them two to one, then you would lose a direct fight
but if the enemy has their forces spread out, then quickly destroying one force, where you locally have parity in number even if outnumbered in total, would allow you to then defeat the other force before they can ever overwhelm you with sheer number

so which defeats which is almost entirely dependent on context
terrain can force units through choke points where they can be defeated in detail
longer range weapons can restrict movement and pin enemies in place, allowing you to prevent a qualitatively superior force from engaging and allowing you to quickly move in reserves to outnumber them like you wanted
