Not sure if this belongs here or on /v/, but I don't care.

Why doesn't the MP-40 appear in the nu-Wolfenstein games? The STG appeared, the Luger appeared, the MG-42 appeared, the FG-42 kinda appeared as the bolt sniper in Old Blood, even the fucking Thompson appeared, but not the MP-40. There was an SMG in New Colossus, but it's a fucking MP5 instead. That's bullshit, I love the MP-40 and it deserves the same amount of respect from Wolfenstein as it gets from COD Zombies.
    >>
Maybe the STG44 replaced it in service?
    >>
    >>65623296
why do they always make them look so cool?
    >>
    >>65623339
The Nazis had fashion designers design their military uniforms, which has started the trend of bad guys being very well dressed.
    >>
I haven't played a modern Wolfenstein, but my understanding was that they were set in the 1960s, just with Germany winning the war. Germany IRL had ditched MP40s for FALs and Uzis by the 60s, so a consolidated nazi steampunk moonbase Germany in the 60s would reasonably have adopted something new.
    >>
    >>65623345
Yeah, in the games, the 60s parts had the STGs replaced with G3s. Still, that's gay. Flair over function nigga.
    >>
    >>65623296
    >Why doesn't the MP-40 appear in the nu-Wolfenstein games
Because the people making Nu-Wolfenstein don't really know how the technological progression of a hypothetical postwar Germany would've worked.
    Basically you'd get MG45's with synthetic furniture and STG45's (basically proto HK91's)}
Instead of the stupid make believe stuff they added to the game.

same reason NOD look so appealing in C&C games.
    >Red and black color scheme go well together
    >the Stahlhelm is so iconic in its good looking design that even shallow laymen recognize it instantly today as the "nazi helmet"

the german dictatorship stumbled across this by half accident, but what totalitarians across the globe never fully wrapped their head arounds is that looking stylish and cool goes a long way in influence by just being memorable. Worst offender, by far, is the modern russhitia. What exactly is that africa tier tri color flag supposed to represent? Or the general aesthetics of just stealing whatever they like from different imperial ages and plastering them together in an unholy shizo mess
    >the st adidas stripes
    >the hammer and sickle
    >the russhitia imperial flag
    >holy tzars and saints???

    Essence over form.
You can mock the russian but you can't deny their capabilities and tolerance to war.

    >tolerance for* war
    >getting slaughtered in a stalemate for four years, straight, unable to capture a backwater like donbawe
yes, yes pidor. You are very brave for sticking your head in the sand and going "not my problem" as monke grinds your africa tier kingdom into the ground. Even monke himself is a temu copy of one of the "great" tyrants your kind looks so much up to. What did Hitler or Stalin or Mao achieve in the same timeframe as you are suiciding in ukraine

absolutely pathetic. No wonder you have to skinwalk symbols of your betters like a a scrawny young boy trying to mimic big bullies without thought or reason

Probably because they already had an SMG in the form of the Thompson and adding an MP40 would just bloat the arsenal while not adding anything. One more, significantly weaker bullet hose when you already have the assault rifle, laser rifle and gatling(s) doesn't make so much sense. Hell even Old Blood, which reasonably could've added one, didn't do it.

    >>65623475
    >Stupid make believe stuff they added to the game
Franchise with mecha hitler, real wizards and robotic mutants btw. If anything, the nazis having a singular rifle design around an intermediate cartridge (with massive magazines too) makes sense while owning multiple continents. By the logic of TNO as well, the laser rifles were supposed to replace the current assault rifles. What would there be to gain from a 20 year old design?

Anyways the devs added an SMG to New Colossus, and that did not prevent the game from feeling half-assed at best. Make of that what you will.

    >Probably because they already had an SMG in the form of the Thompson and adding an MP40 would just bloat the arsenal while not adding anything.
That was only in the first mission though. I'd understand them not adding it there, but it being absent across the rest of the game makes me sad. :(
    >>
    >>65623345
Yeah, Germany's tech is accelerated in multiple areas versus real life but it's still meant to have gone through a lot of the same phases in a compressed form, and culture is a rough mirroring of real life's too.
I think people forget that part of the setting of the Machine Games games is Germany reverse engineering secret super technology to get ahead, it's not 'just' nazis winning from batshit projects actually paying off.
    >>65623672
Technology has already diverged visibly by 1946, if anything it'd only be stranger as time goes on to add one.

nu wolfenstein is gay retarded shit made by ultimate final boss libtards who don't know anything about anything
you should not spend any time THINKING about this dogshit franchise (after 2009, BJ Blazkowicz was still based back then), much less playing it
    >>
    >>65623850
Okay now that I'm getting a better look at it, yeah that's not a fucking MP5 lol.

It's kinda weird that the Nazis conveniently adopt weapon the same year in weapon designation name.

I am beginning to suspect that they may have overstated their capabilities.

    >>65623339
You want cool and imposing villains in your action game, be they demons, zombies, mutants, cyborgs, nazis, or all of those things at the same time.

    >>65623475
    >Instead of the stupid make believe stuff they added to the game.
Anon, the game is outright science fiction, they won the war in the those games with future technology.

    >>65623562
I never did play past The New Order. I really enjoyed that game, but when the next one came out, it sounded and looked awfully cringe, and I just tapped out after that.

    >>65623296
The ultimate irony of Wolfenstein is that the Nazis only jumped so far ahead due to Jewish technology.
    >>
    >>65625267
That part isn't exactly subtle irony, but whatever.
    >>
    >>65625272
Oh it's definitely not subtle, just comical.

Leftists will ALWAYS have Freudian slips, as their entire ideology is based on 3 jews.
    >Freud
    >Marx
    >Alensky
The second you realize that leftists aren't human and are only meat robots whose programming and demoralization are complete do you understand what must be done.

    >>65625266
Yeah The New Colossus is dogshit. They completely misunderstood the tone of TNO and Old Blood and what made them feel compelling, so all that was left was some very, very short and half baked missions that lack any depth other than "shoot officer and move on to next arena"
    >>65625320
Why do you type like you're offended?
    >>
    >>65625416
I didn't outright hate it, I think there's still some good in there, but it certainly didn't thread the needle with the tone like the first game did so well. The devs clearly had a euro home ground advantage in the world of the first game.
This thread is reminding me I need to replay TNO, and Doom 2016 at some point too.
    >>
    >>65625416
He just went full schizo on us and I'm not entirely sure why.
    >>
    >>65625427
The parts I liked of New Colossus were sparse, and notably the best part for me was completely undermined by their own dogshit writing.
When BJ goes back home after the Area 51 mission and gets captured, that felt like it was actually leading towards something
    >All the flashbacks he was getting of home
    >Despairing over Caroline and his inevitable death
    >Desperately fighting to secure an idea of a future for his pregnant lover
    >Knows almost all of this might just be in vain, killing Deathshead was merely killing a single general, as he told you directly at the end of TNO
    >All of this leading up to BJ getting captured and sent into a mock trial, just after a completely botched rescue attempt
So when BJ proceeds to tear through his metal shackles out of sheer desperate rage, and the track Mein Leben comes on, and one of the more difficult fights of the game begins, it feels like it was all building to this. Until they awkwardly kill him and instantly put him in a new body in like, 3 minutes of cutscene. All of this narrative and thematic build-up that climaxes like a needle into the testicle. What a grand waste of my time.
After that I only remember being charmed by parts of the Venus level and not much else.

For all its faults I'm still sad the series got sacrificed on Bethesda's altar of live service everything instead of getting a proper third entry, good or bad I think it at least deserved to end on its own terms.
Machine Games landed on their feet with Indiana Jones though, which was an oddly appropriate consolation prize.
