    >A Russian Su-57 caught fire and burned down completely during engine startup at Akhtubinsk airfield on October 29, per AND, making it the fourth Su-57 lost this year against a production rate of only about four jets annually.
    Why is it so shit?

ok that can happen I guess ?

how the fuck ? Did the engine failure end up setting the other engine at full throttle ? At this point the incompetence is on purpose

how is this possible how have they not ramped up production ?

Sanctions make electronics for radars, weapons and avionics extremely scarce and Russia is trying to produce a 5th gen fighter while at the same time modernizing their Su-35, Su-34, Su-33, Su-30, Mig-31 and Mig-29s.

There were also QC issues on the engines and airframes. They only started fielding flat exhaust nozzles this year.

Don't be silly you can't fatten a plane up for slaughter on some shitty siberian field. Hay and silage are called for at least!
    >>
For an aviation research and development facility, the pavement outside of the main runway appears to be in poor condition.
Could this be the result of an accident where an aircraft veered off the path while taxiing?

Strategic advantage of maintaining a big fat "stealth" aircraft that falls apart faster than you can build them?

You'd be impressed at how poorly defended a ton of Russian airfields are. It's not uncommon to have some absolutely stereotypical slav hovels directly adjacent to a single chain link fence that separates a direct path to aircraft in the open. My personal favorite was where you could see several MiG31 a couple hundred feet from a public road, protected by only a couple waist high fences. You can argue that in the age of small available drones that's not much worse than alot of other airbases in the world, but some of the examples you can find just on google street view are absurd
    >>
    >>65621663
Isn't that because putin is hoarding all the 'good' russian air defenses for himself?

To take the devil's advocate it's a jet that's going through the same teething issues that the F-22 only fully got over like 10 years ago (10 years after its introduction).
Regardless the US is the only country with a real true fifth-generation fighter jet.

    >April 25, 2026 (Shagol Airfield, Chelyabinsk Region): Ukrainian drones struck deep (about 1,700 km from the border) inside Russia, damaging or destroying multiple aircraft including Su-57 fighters at the Shagol air base
    >Akhtubinsk Airfield Attack (June 2024): Ukraine's military intelligence (HUR) reported a historic long-range drone strike that damaged an Su-57 at the Akhtubinsk test center in Astrakhan Oblast, marking the first time the high-value stealth fighter was hit on the ground

    >>

I think theres a few of them now including a type from Japan, ultimately its all variations on a theme, waxed cardboard, sticky tape and some sort of engine, flight controller and just send it off to feed n sneed the AAA cucks.
Wonder if they've come up with some lulz like the old school aluminum chaff windows to give the radars something to look at?

    >>65623768
The hilarity is me thinking a few weeks back that Budanov sends russian kids some helium cylinders and aluminium coated party balloons to let off near the airport would have the normies shrieking and shidding in the seats there while someone comes up with a way of getting rid of Happy 21st and Good Luck inflatables delaying flights
