What type of rifle grenade is superior?>Rods>Cups>SpigotsSurely you know the answer.
None of them, which is why every military that isn't a poorly equipped conscript meat force (hell, even some of those) switched to underbarrel or standalone grenade launchers
>>65619838>SpigotsI'm fairly sure Spigots are the superior, rod grenades damage the gun but a Spigot is easy to mount while a Cup requires a bit of before thought to mount to the firearm. All still require a blank.
>>65619838Spigot>Cup>>>RodRod was a shitty stopgap which is why they mostly died out after WWI. Cups were workable but just kinda shit, much like half-tracks they disappeared after WWII. Spigots stuck around for a good minute though. I want to say the 416F has the ability to fire French rifle grenades because they have a large stockpile leftover from the FAMAS
>>65619898Theoretically any AR with an A1 or A2 flash hider and pic rel could launch a NATO grenade
>>65619838Spigot and bullet trap. Everything else is idiotic.
>>65619939>bullet trapWhat is that?
>>65619947A steel insert in the grenade that catches the live bullet, so that the soldier won't have to switch to blanks just to launch grenades.
On a related note, I need some weaponized autism here:This beauty came into my possession recently and I just can't figure out where it's from and what it's made for.It fits my M1 carbine like a glove and has an inner diameter of 55mm (slim energy drink cans fit perfectly). It can be screwed apart into the cup and clamp part. The overall fit and finish is excellent and it has a 4 digit serial number. My best guess is some type of tear gas grenade launcher, but so far I found nothing.

>>65619838A fixed twist rate on a rifled cup can only stablize a narrow range of projectiles and velocity. No help from fins. The gyroscopic effect is counter productive for high arching projectile to line up with the direction of travel and the spin harms shaped sharge penetration unless the liner is specially designed to account for that. The benefit is sleek projectile (no wing), good low shot accuracy and centrifugally unlocked fuse (spin is a reliable launch signal separable from mishandling).Spigot are the norm with fins. Adaptable to all weight and sizes. With adaptor can work with regular hand grenade on time fuze or even mortar. Fuse options are contact, timed or inertial unlocked by linear high acceleration.

I’ve been going hard on the Polish rifle grenades. It’s making me want to expand into other types. I have an idea that spigots could be adapted for others. I really want a m7 but concerned of splitting the stock on my Garand. It’s soon to be 6.5 Swede as well so now sure how badly that’s going to throw it off.
>>65621012>most successful rifle grenade of the warSo it got like what, 2 kills?
>>65621091the british and germans experimented with rifle grenades early in the war but never really issued them widespreadthe US kept using rifle grenades even after improvements in armor made it obsolete because they could be used as long-ranged grenades, you could launch one about 50-75m in direct fire compared to only about 30m with a really good arm using the mk2 frag grenade
I would use them as knee mortars, so volley fire, the grenadier can issue them to every infantryman for a kind of ambush. That's also why you wouldn't use an underslung gl.A unit which takes light mortar fire has no idea who's attacking them, in what number or from what range. So a small unit can attack a brigade size force this way.
