why are fancraft not being actively pursued by defense contractors?>small form factor for low urban manuevers>high payload capacity for size>would make for a great frontline drone facwhy is it only one (((nation of wealth))) developing this? Is there a fatal flaw to it's design?
>>65618995Because helicopters and drones you dumb motherfucker
>>65618995The fan is pretty terrible for higher speeds.
>>65618999why would you need high speed in an urban environment with low flight ceiling
>>65619011Why are you flying low and near buildings where you're just begging to be face raped by ground fire?
>>65619011You always want speed. And if it's truly only meant to be used inside an urban environment and not for moving to and from it then you've already answered your own question why nobody is really pursuing it. Too expensive and too heavy a footprint for too little utility.
>>65618995Ducted fans suck balls
>>65618995>why is it only one (((nation of wealth))) developing thisWhite people invented LCACs for orderly disposal of brownoids quite some time ago sweaty
>>65619048ducted fans have a lot of advantages, which is why drones and blimps use them, such as higher thrust efficiency
>>65618995>not being actively pursued by defense contractors? How do you know they're not?
>>65618995Does nobody remember this?>picrelAlso, this is a loaded question because it all leads back to one answer, most western countries haven't funneled enough money into it for anything to see the light of day, but it isn't a blind spot or anything, the money and prior required developmental work just hasn't been done in most cases, not to mention it is niche and wouldn't work in many combat environments. It is a specialized system rather isolated from similar drone developments aswell. The US is probably gonna use them in Asia for island hopping logistics chains if the Chinks get uppity, as for Israel, I dont know why they put the money into it unless they fully intend to sell it, or, if they want to use it, make it more resistant to ground fire (cutting into its useful payload).
