In brazil, a kite line cut the wing of an airplane.Seems to be cheap enough for poor people to buy it.All they have to do is spread those lines everywhere, and the russians drones that use fiber optical wires will be neutralized.
>>65618601They used to do that in WW2 to protect from strafing runs.>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrage_balloon
The optical fiber being trailed by the drone is not subjected to the kind of tension that would cause it to snap if it were to snag on something.
>>65618706What about a way for the kite string to sense when the fiber optic contacts it, and then it makes a solid connection and a small rocket at the head or tail of the kite line takes off in the opposite direction of the drone, drastically reducing the drone's range?
>>65618762You don’t even need to do that, if you introduce enough of a bend into the wire it’ll drop signal, ukes have innovated ground-based countermeasures that catch and spool up wires that fall on it, but you need a lot of them to cover ground. A kite or balloon based version would need a way to anchor a line automatically on detecting a line, a device which would end up prohibitively heavy to put up in the air cheaply.
>>65618706Third worlder fighting kites actually have absurdly sharp lines to the point of causing fatalities. I think OP is onto something here
>>65618635Couldn't you achieve the same concept for an APC with a bunch of helium balloons tied all around?. I'm being serious.
>>65620392we weaponize kites here by mixing the already sharp chilean string with crushed glass and glue. it's our military's secret tech.
>>65620488APCs didn’t really exist back then. But also,>balloons would get tangled on every single tree branch and vertical obstacle.
>>65620797Isn’t kite fighting an Afghan thing or was it independently developed all across the third world
