Are they retarded? Shouldn't they be trying to sell suppressor ready M77 and M1894 trappers?
    >>
    >>65618232
Beretta is actively trying to ruin Ruger to buy it out. Ruger is trying to stay alive at the expense of everything that made them great.
    >>
    >>65618232
Theyre going to be selling all their lever actions, glock glones, and rilfes with sbrs ready threaded barrels etc. hopefully some group does some threaded revolvers and rifle revolvers

Wait what? I didn't even know they HAD one, I have wanted a 9mm or 357 bolt gun built by an actual reputable company for years, and I only learn about this when it's gone?
    What the fuck man.

    yeah, the 77/22 line. they didn't have 9mm, they had .22lr, .17hmr, .22wm, .357 and .44 mag.
I don't see why they couldn't make a 9mm considering they have a 10mm 1894 lever gun now. the biggest concern about a 9mm lever gun is that 9mm rounds are pointier than .357/.44, but there wouldn't be that same concern with a rotery mag like the type they used for the 77/357 and 77/44

    Man, I'd like a wood stocked 77/357

    >>65618253
I've heard people say this, but is it actually true? Is there any source?

    >>65618394
A few years back, I saw someone who made a pair of metal cover plates with rubber gaskets which you'd clamp onto a Ruger SP101 in .22LR, and he had threaded the barrel for a suppressor, and it was pretty fucking quiet.
Obviously, reloads aren't so practical that way, but it did work.

Oh, seems he actually went in business and is making these now, and refined the design to be more practical. Well, if you wanted the novelty of a quiet revolver, you could try that, it's supposed to be fairly quiet with just .22 Shorts
    https://revolverseal.com/shop/revolver-seal
Man, he must be fucking stoked that he can sell his stuff without the tax or extra paperwork.
    >>
    >>65618771
    >ATF regulates sealing a revolver cylinder gap as a silencer.
That is ridiculous, but finally explains why pic related died.
    >>
Right, here was his prototype, clunktastic, but again, works:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqXuotr4sck

The ATF eventually ruled them a silencer, but that's not a problem anymore. Seems he only makes them for the Heritage Rough Rider, which is a shame, the Ruger SP101 would have been a good fit for his improved design.
    >>
    >>65618771
The source is “just trust me bro subscribe to my channel”.
    >>
    >>65618771
    but why?
    >>
    >>65618781
That's what happened to his accessory, and he might have been able to actually fight that based on the fact that the 1895 Nagant exists in large numbers in the U.S, but I don't know if that's what actually happened to the SIX-12.

Man, though, imagine a Ruger SP101 with a 12" barrel, a stock, and that seal cover system, just this quiet and fast 8-shot plinker/varminter. You could actually just make a gun like that now (though the guy has a patent on his doodad, so maybe you'd want to negotiate a product deal with him or something).

    >>65618786
I assume it was either a matter of "Why not?" or "Because it's funny!" optionally that he made a bet.
    >>
    >>65618299
    >I don't see why they couldn't make a 9mm considering they have a 10mm 1894 lever gun now. the biggest concern about a 9mm lever gun is that 9mm rounds are pointier than
the issue with 9mm lever or bolt actions is its significantly cheaper to make a straight blowback sa or fa gun. therefore nobody will pay for it.
people will see a 500 dollar 9mm bolt/lever then bitch about it being too expensive since hi point or a bunch of other guns exist.
    >>
    >>65618805
That's horseshit, if they could offer a decent lever-action rifle in 9mm, for fucking $500, that'd sell. Not everyone settles for a Hi-Point.
    >>
    >>65618807
    >they could offer a decent lever-action rifle in 9mm, for fucking $500,
    they cant
if they were selling that cheap they would be making cents on the gun

taylors and co has one that's like $1,200 and is a piece of shit. like the gun exploded a case and disassembled itself while karl the cuck was shooting it
    >>
    >>65618792
Nagants are legally antiques and not firearms as long as they were made before 1899.
    >>
    >>65618826
Anon, they made SHITLOADS of 1895 revolvers after that date, many of them aren't antiques by that definition.
    >>
    >>65618807
Not enough profit margin. Levers and even revolvers and break actions are more complicated than they may at first seem.
    >>
    >>65618835
I am aware. Apparently the ATF stance is that the cylinder gap seal feature of the Nagant is inherent to the design, while
    >>65618771
is an accessory or attachment, thereby making it a silencer.
    Which also invalidates
    >>65618781
    >>
    >>65618836
I don't think most levers have a gear like that
    >>
    >>65618855
    Touché.
    >>
    >>65618818
Probably true, but $500 is what anon actually said. Again, half-decent at that price would sell well, even if this is just a hypothetical at this point.

    >>65618836
Sure, but you also don't have to make the same extravagant rotating bolt setup which the Henry Long Ranger there is boasting, they weren't making them that complex in the 1800s, not even the 1895 Winchester went that crunk, and that's the more complex one of its time.

    >>65618818
For the sake of argument, Ruger back in the day sold the old Security Six and Speed Six at a very low profit margin, and always bid very low for police contracts. The idea back then being to build up a reputation and customerbase for the future, establishing to lots of people they could do a solid revolver.

You can't just always do such a thing though, and you have to stop at some point even if you do.
    >>
    >>65618855
They really don't, the Henry Long Ranger and Browning Lever Rifle are the only ones I know of which do that.

The ATF has been "on the ropes" many times, and still won thanks to the diversity hires of Brown and Sotomayor, let alone the many times the 9th, 2nd, and 3rd fucked us over. Also, fucking Fencesitter Roberts.

Trump literally told the DOJ to not appeal, which they could have done, which would have pushed this issue another five to ten years down the road. This is a win, and it's a win because of Trump's actions. If you can sit there and say with a straight face that this would have happened under Biden, Obama, Harris, or whoever the next DNC nominee is, or god forbid one of the conservatives on the court croaks and a liberal gets appointed but we still get the same ruling, I will eat my sock on livestream.

The bigger issue the back pressure from the suppressor increases the pressure at the cylinder gap.

    >>
    >>65624070
The high pressure event at the cylinder gap is over by the time the bullet leaves the barrel. The suppressor results in gas that would normally go out the front instead going out the gap but it doesn't raise the pressure of the maximum pressure experienced at the cylinder gap.
