This isn’t for lit (All Quiet in the Western Front) or for pure pulp (Mack Bolan) but books somewhere in the middle. Authors like Larry Correia, John Ringo, Matthew Reilly. What are some good and/or silly books on operating and such. Also, looking for submarine recommendations. The sub parts of Red Storm Rising were my fav.
>>65618078Ever read dogs of war?
>>65618078John Ringo is slop.
Well OP im looking for similar books so I'll help out. several of my recommendations lean toward the /x/ side of /k/ lit, but if you like Larry Correia you might like them too. Old Man's War series by John Scalzi. Great scifi, interesting combat with various aliens, and cool scifi tech/weapons. Primitive War series by Ethan Pettus. Jurassic park + the Vietnam War basically. Savage Wars series by Jason Anspach and Nick Cole. Great scifi again. Normal humans in the future vs. fuckedup off shoots of humanity that genetically, mechanically, or cyberneticly altered themselves. Alien: Bug Hunt. Anthology that expands on the Alien Universe, even the origins of the Pulse Rifle. Leviathan by Greig Beck. The megalodon is still out there...or Primordia. Time travel back to age of the dinosaurs, and the titanaboa.or The Siberian Incident. Tales of the Crypto-Hunter by R. Gualtieri. They are alright, people hunt cryptids, not as good as MHI, but it's something. Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman. I know, not exactly /k/ but he does make alot of bombs. it's just a dumb fun book series. The train one sucks but the rest are entertaining. My current job gives me alot of time to listen to audible while I work so Im always looking for more to listen to, especially stuff similar to Larry Correia's work, ive already gone through pretty much all of his stuff.
>>65618233Scalzi is a hack and Old Man's War is a vastly inferior direct ripoff of Joe Haldeman's Forever War.
Red Badge of Courage is a short, easy, and enjoyable read
>mack bolan>friendly old couple had this entire mack bolan set for 3 bucks a book >think ill get around to gettting all of them later>old man dies, wife sells the store, its now a shitty e vape storeFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCK
>>65618078Reacher novels are slop, but entertaining and fast reads.>>65618262Based classic appreciator. "The Rifle" by Gary Paulsen is slept on and only ~100 pages.>InB4 some anon claims it is a grabber book.
>>65618233>Alien: Bug Hunt. Anthology that expands on the Alien Universe, even the origins of the Pulse Rifle.I instantly recognized and loved the "Tales of the Gun" format. Hicks' backstory was good too. The one by Heather Graham S U C K E D. It was convoluted, full of plot holes and the pacing was rushed as Hell.
>>65618078Anyone read any recently published scifi /k/ books lately? Or any books that are set in "strangereal" worlds similar to Ace Combat?
>>65618330If you can get past some of the political content, Harry Turtledove writes some amazing alternative history, and a fair bit of scifi too.
>>65618360Ah, Harry Turtledove. Master of fascinating concepts executed poorly, with dialog and characters that make you feel like he's trolling you with how bad they are. His prose is so bad it's a humiliation ritual trying to finish his books.
I like Marc Alan Edelheit’s sci-fi stuff. He has one one about a cruiser and one as a small fleet. Some of the battles sound very samey as space battles are often just launch missiles and counters and then wait. But overall very fun stuff. His fantasy series is very legion phalanx battles and I enjoy that too.
>>65618330Red State Mars
>>65618078Literally anything by Jack Vance or Gene Wolf, everyone else iit has never touched tits
>>65618078>TOM CLANCY'S PREGNANCY SIMULATOR 2K26: EVEN THE SUBMARINE IS PREGNANT
>>65618372The corny, overdone dialogue is great, ESPECIALLY in the Southern Victory books. It really is a humiliation ritual.
Red Phoenix by Larry Bond, and Arc Light by Eric Larry
>>65618078i literally just bought the entire (fiction) bibliography of frederick forsyth yesterday, so i cant really recommend it yet but the guy wrote the day of the jackal so i guess it fits.currently reading debt of honor btw
>>65618078Redliners by David Drake definitely counts. Also Hammer's Slammers
>>65618078This one has a few good battle scenes, but has a bit more of a yappy philosopher MC.
>>65618078I still haven’t quite figured out whether Tom would be the smuggest fucker alive or absolutely fuckass mad about Russia being incompetent were he still alive. He would definitely be said about the dropping birth rate meaning less fuel for his fetish though.
>>65618185Nah. The Polsleen series is the absolute peak of HFY.>slopJohn Halderman's writings are pure boomerslop.
>>65618078>books somewhere in the middle.
>>65619283>humiliation ritual Yeah.>oy vey goyim don't you know protesting migrants flooding into your countries is EVUL and all white countries are guilty of what one white region did oy vey goyim ignore Israel doing the same but far worseHarry has absolutely zero idea how real life works, 99% of his scenarios would result in total kike death once the truth came to life who was causing all the problems.
>>65620821I can tell you he’d flip his shit over the current Republican push to support Russia.
>>65618078Ringo has a few good series but as far as Baen Books authors go I like david drake and eric flint (RIP) a lot better desu.
>>65620821>He would definitely be said about the dropping birth rate meaning less fuel for his fetish though.Based preggo-fetishist Tom. I still find it fucking insane that the moment in RSR where T-55s are sent to attack NATO positions, is effectively played for laughs to demonstrate just how fucking far the Russian forces have fallen - and that was a hilarious joke.....in 1985. >>65620998Totally>>65619171hello benis>>65619344Fist of God is good fun.
>Rifleman Dodd by CS Forester>The Defence of Duffer's Drift by ED Swinton>The Defense of Hill 781 by James R McDonough>Nightmare on Wazir Street>Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Persig>Matterhorn by Karl Marlantes>Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein
>>65618078These books are generally young adult fiction slop, no realism whatsoever. The British authors can write, but they can't tell a rifle from a shotgun so you must pass on them. Americans just write muh democracy (tm) "patriotic" propaganda (not surprising as the books are directed at young adults and we DO NOT want them to get any ideas, do we?). It's generally garbage in all other regards as well.Anyway, I did enjoy The Bourne Identity and Eye of the Needle. (anything worth more than a penny was already adopted to film, duh). DO NOT make a mistake with McCarthy btw, No Country for Old Men is a terrific movie but an abysmally idiotic book; they were already scraping the barrel with this. The same with Reacher.(Heinlein had some funny ideas, like this chick martial-arts sci-fi assassin who was discarding pistols as they were making her slower and less effective kek. This is the unrealistic slop I am talking about. You will be losing any immersion all the time).
