Good evening everyone, what is everyone having for dinner? Fresh baked Caraway rye bread, vegetable soup, pickled beets, black tea and milk. Hand nugget incase some gopnik tries to take my shoes.
>>65616317Based, I just made a tombstone pizza, the epitome

I used pintosalt, pepper, garlic, chili, cumin to taste serve over fluffy white rice. this can make 7 meals at about 750 calories each depending on toppings
>>65616317Sawsages with green beans and some leftover pasta. Tomorrow I'm going to have a vegetarian lentil curry.
chimken an ramen
>>65616396You should add peppers
>>65616327I used to get Celeste pizzas but they went out of business
>>65616447my poor ass family had celeste when i was younger lol
>>65616317You need more protein.
>>65616396I do a similar chili but with ground pork instead. And the tomatoes are the ones I grow and freeze. Chili's are also a must for me. I dry/freeze a bunch from my garden >>65616401What's your recipe for the lentil curry? I abstain from meat on Fridays and im always looking for something new to add for lunch/dinner.>>65616377Anything special with it? Or just chicken by itself?>>65616387I haven't had any frozen meals since Schwann went out of business. That one any good?
>>65616478Missed this one from this post >>65616492I had venison sausages with homemade red sauce and potatoes for lunch. Soni got plenty of protein for the day. I was in the mood for something simple for dinner. Something that I can have to go with other meals throughout the week. And since I abstain from meat on Fridays, this soup will be great also with some bread and a tin of sprats or herring
>>65616492>What's your recipe for the lentil curry?I'm still working on it, but I'm picturing something like Japanese-style curry roux blocks: get a roux going and cook it until dark, then add vegetables, then add spices, then add stock and/or water with diced tofu. Cook lentils separately (always soak beforehand), then combine and let simmer for a couple of minutes.
>>65616492Nothing special, just some chicken.
>>65616317The candle is a nice touch.I didn't think to take a pictur but I fried up some garlic, onions, and green peppers. Then poured in a can off corned beef and tomatoe paste. Served over a pile of rice. I like sushi rice so that's what I used.>man, I love pickled beets
>>65616504That sounds easy enough. I normally soak my lentils if I preplanned a meal. But I keep a few cans of no salt added lentils (garbanzo beans too) on hand.I'll have to grab some tofu my next grocery shopping day.
>>65616511That sounds pretty good there, I've done the same, but with potatoes instead of rice.I love pickled Anything really, but beets, herring, dill pickles and pickled mushrooms are my absolute favorite. Pickled tomato's go great with vodka and friends.
2 michaelwave sweedish meatball leancuisine meals mixed together, paired with applejuice i had leftover from surviving a tenny bit of alcohol poisoning (something was very off about some red wine i had, too many sulfates i guess)
>>65616513>I'll have to grab some tofu my next grocery shopping day.Keep a block or two on hand. Tofu is severely underrated as a protein booster for soups and stews.
Anyone know any good canned food options? Most of canned soups are pretty lame at best, but sometimes you find some pearls amongst them. Some mediocre ones can be further enhanced by adding extra things like bullion cubes, extra spam, rice or something. Like this Hungarian style Goulash soup. These are actually pretty good.Canned food is cheap, plentiful and lasts a long time. Give me your best canned foods.
I had grilled chicken thighs and grilled peppers tonight, it was good. I'm gonna do steak and corn tomorrow probably, I'll come back and post a pic if it's still up.
>>65616317Do white people really?
>>65616554Im going to have too.>>65616563I'm fortunate enough to live relatively closely to a bunch of Polish markets. And a few of them sell "condensed" soup but in jars. It's like a progresso, but double the vegetable and grains. And most of the time no bs ingredients. I normally find the Lowell brand. And honestly my go to other canned foods are also from Poland, Croatia, Serbia, Estonia and so on that I get from those same markets
>>65616571Not everything needs to have 1000 things going on. White people really do this as wellSear venison back strap, basted in Spanish olive oil, butter and fresh from the garden Rosemary. Cooked to medium rare. Pasta with homemade red sauce using cherry tomatoes from the garden.. with green beans cooked with the back strap. Topped with freshly shredded Parmesan. And nothing special merlot to go with it..

>>65616317
>>65616520>I love pickled AnythingYeah, i'm the same.I'll have to look for pickled tomatoes. I've never heard of them and I eat tomatoes like apples. Thanks for the heads up.
>>65616618No problem. They might be hard to find. Only place I ever see them, was at a Polish market. I pickle my own. >1 cup water >1.25 cups vinegar >1 tbsp kosher salt>3/4 tbsp sugar For the brine You can add whatever herbs or spices or whatever. These are for the refrigerator so they're not shelf stable. But 2 to 3 weeks in the fridge and they are good to go. They'll last like 6 months or even longer In the fridge. I grow a lot of veggies in the summer so I pickle a lot of them
>>65616603you're speaking to a guy who can only afford to eat plain rice, and laughs at the rest of the world for having the luxury of restraintnext thing you know, they'll say that japanese isn't plain, spanish & italian doesn't count, and american food is only for "mutts"i think the saddest part of dealing with those types, was eating what they actually prefer and finding out i eat spicier/herb-ier food by natureit was their one grasp of culture they had left and it was just a big lie they kept sowing, all because they thought generic comfortfoods were our normal
>>65616637Forgot to say you must bring the brine to a boil and mix it all. And allow it to cool. Before pouring it over. >>65616639That's always the case isn't it? Just because I and many many others enjoy a Bologna sandwich on white bread, with a slice of American cheese and yellow mustard. Every so often, it's actually our cuisine or something. Anyone else's tastes get simpler as they've gotten older? I used to be all about spices, seasonings, making stuff spicy. Now, salt and pepper and I'm a happy man. It's not even heartburn or gutache avoidance, I just enjoy simpler foods a lot more than I used to.t. 35 year old
>>65618152its as plain as eastern european food
>>65618323If you think it's limited to sushi and various rice dishes, I suppose? But even their comfort foods like Japanese curry are flavorful (and much better than the indian saar curry)
>>65616618Picklebros, you have to start making your own refrigerator pickles. I do onions, eggs, beets, green beans, fucking anything. Get pickling salt and white vinegar, a little sugar, boil it, pour it over the food and seal the jar. Toss that in the fridge and wait a day or three. The longer you wait (within a week or so) the more pickled, obv, but sometimes a day or two gives a wonderful crunch on a red onion, or a nice light brine on a hardboiled egg. It's just so easy.
Leftover canvasback duck ramen with roasted hatch chili, peapods, boiled egg, freezer aisle gyoza, and furikake seasoning.Obviously /k/ relevant because I shot the duck last week.
>>65618406they aren't eating those comfort foods every day though, like how we don't eitheranother thing to note is that their exports cater to foreign diets very hard, so if you're just going off of "well i see this at stores/subscription-services", you're getting the "them crazy white people like those weird foods! give them that!"foreigners eat more crazy kitkat flavors that they do, etc
>>65618438Already have been on that, boss>>65616637. (Tomatoes)I pickle pretty much anything and everything that I can. "Hot" pepper pack pictured. Hungarian, garden salsa, and maraş bibers. I
>>65618454Japanese curry is absolutely an ordinary every day meal.
>>65618772which is usually in a very tame & gentle flavor, not the tourist wacky dacky ultra spicy wasabi shit fart flavors
>>65619007>not the tourist wacky dacky ultra spicy wasabi shit fart flavorsIs that even a thing? I don't think it is.
>>65619032It's not, but actual homemade Japanese curry is usually pretty bland like most other Japanese home cooking. One of my Japanese friends brought his kids to the US a while back and they couldn't even handle carbonated drinks because they were too "spicy". I had to remove almost all seasoning except a little salt, sugar, or onions sauce from everything I cooked because they had apparently never eaten anything more flavorful than white rice and watered down miso soup.
>>65619044Japanese soda has more carbonation than american ones do and they sell coke and every other american brand there too. But you knew that already don't you chang
>>65619046nta, but every jap soda i've had was pretty flat besides ramunestill good, but definitely not as harsh as american sodas can be
>>65618155No. I still enjoy strong tastes though bitterness is still highly disallowed on my palette
>>65616317Goyslop
>>65619044Mild Golden Curry is great. Hayashi Rice is even better. Never tried Vermont Curry or that white jizz looking stuff.
>>65619188I'm curious of you reasoning here? It's cabbage, carrots, potato, celery, onion Homemade vegetable stock. And homemade rye bread.I really hope your tr00ling. Lol

Sick as fuck so I made some kinda hotpot/shabu shabu thing out of a bunch of stuff I had lying around. Veggies and hydration, plus a fuckton of spice to clear the sinuses.
>>65617286They're not wrong, eastern euro food in general is pretty bland.
>>65616317>What's for dinnerHmm... Roasted piggies.
>>65619084Well yeah, japs are pussies, they can't handle the hard stuff.
>>65619416If you overpower everything with a hundred of seasonings and tbsp's of Lawry's and fry your taste buds. Sure it's bland. I guess I really shouldn't care if anyone thinks it's bland or not. It and much of eastern European food is absolutely delicious to me.>>65619399>Because ever body know to bring a wheel gun to at-home dinner. You don't anon? >>65619412Did it work?
>>65619416Eastern euro food is rarely spicy if that's what you mean by bland (with the exception of Hungarian food which is frankly it's own thing). Still pretty flavorful if you ask me, with emphasis on savory, salty or sour, but I'm biased. No native hot spices outside of mustard and horseradish and those tend to be used as condiments and not as ingredients in the food itself. OTOH we put raw garlic on fried bread and eat pickled hot peppers...Also once you go past 51° north or 22° east theres dill in or on everything.t. Czechfag who's spent some time in the Baltics

>>65619396Nta, where do you get your rye or rye flour, OP?
>quorn fake chicken is 2.50 a bag at krogergoysloppers eatin good
>>65619596Thanks >>65619630My rulye bread I get from a local bakery or one of the Polish markets if I'm by that way. The flour I get either from those same markets. My local grocery store (when they have it) or Amazon. My preferred is Bob's Red Mill organic dark rye flour. >>65619614Cabbage soup fits this time of year just perfectly. If you can't find any good rye in your area, you should give making it a whirl. I messed up plenty in my time. But that's how you learn. While I have all the bread pans. I prefer making the "rustic" looking breads. Sure they don't look perfect. But they taste just fine. The one I. The pic, I wish I had let rise another hour. But I was getting hungry and didn't have time in the morning to get it going.
>>65619721And I forgot the attach the pic..
>>65619725I love making breads.
Sort of pickle-adjacent, I picked up a taste for pik nam pla in thailand, basically fish sauce with bird chili, some regions use garlic too. I like to pack a jar with garlic and shallots, all thinly sliced, and dona fish sauce/chili soak. Not really pickling, but the mega salty fish sauce soaks into everything and it's amazing.
Sorry I just learned there's a cooking board but one thread in and I'm never going back, I'll take my food conversation with a fine dusting of lead tyvm
>>65619879Dude that sounds pretty good. I didn't grow birds eyes this year. But I have other chilis that'll be good enough for it. >>65619891Every few years I'll go back there to Czech it out. >>65616317>What's for dinnerhome grown cherry tomato sauce. added some ground turket meat to it. with some $4 pasta. i didnt roast the tomatoes long enough so the flavor is a bit weaker than usual. they were very moist this time. i should have done them for another hour.
>>65620369its good when you drain the gravy onto instant mash potatoes, then put a little black pepper on itit still smells exactly like dogfood, but with pepper on it instead
Chicken thighs, green beans, and roasted potatoes. Real easy throw together weeknight meal, especially since I didn't get to meal prep last weekend.
no pictures but here's my retard proof chicken recipe:>dump some russian salad dressing over chicken breasts>add a couple spoonfuls of apricot jam>add 1 packet onion soup mix>stir everything until sauce is combined>bake at 275F until it reaches tempjust eyeball the amounts, no need to measure. almost impossible to fuck it up and turns out good every time. serve with rice, pilaf, or potatoes.

Fighting depression after putting my cat of over 21 years down two days ago. You can prepare yourself all you want for that moment, but even as a stoic man, you might cry like a baby. It's petting the space in the air where the cat was. The absence of cat. This is what is sad. It takes my appetite, so I've forced myself to eat naked mass blended with kefir and walnuts with raw eggs. It is not /k/aturday. I carried her in my arms at six weeks and spent two decades with her and now have laid her to rest into the cold ground. Godspeed-- now I will run and buy steak and lift. I never post here but I come here every day, generally. Now I break CATSEC.

>>65623215that is actually pretty tasty and nutritious other than the lack of green leafy vegetableschop up some broccoli florets and boil them for about five minutes in the soupwhen I feel shit or had a long day at work and haven't prepped, what I do is get a pound of chicken thigh, a carrot, a large onion, a cup of peas, some garlic, and some herb mix, chop all that into bite-size chunks and throw it on the pot until it reaches a roiling boil, then add a head of broccoli chopped up until the broccoli stems are just forkable. done.a simple and mindless formula I can virtually cook on autopilot.
