So what's the new thing everyone is getting these days?
Last time I got something was the Flecktarn jackets and Alpenflage field shirts everyone ordered for cheap. I still have those but I lost 60lbs so now nothing fits me anymore. I wanna keep up with the current trends.

Good job on your weight loss. In terms of milsurp clothes I haven't bought any in so long. I do want to buy some P41 or P44 dungarees to match my Late WWII/Korea USMC kit.

What did I buy? Been wanting a Lee-Enfield for a long time, the long branch no4 mkIs were already sold and last one left was $150 and I sent it. It was labelled "no4" but on the left receiver a faint "No.4 MkII Fifth" that ai only saw after the paperwork was done, with a crowned "L7" on the band by the trigger guard. A crowned OEW on the barrel band, and only a + next to a 6 or 9 on the top of the receiver. I'm in the weeds looking for markings and haven't found much. Mismatched magazine numbering but the serial starts with a 25. Please help me autists

    >Good job on your weight loss.
Well, thank you very much. But I didn't really work on it or anything. I've always just been a lifter and not a cardio, calorie counting, macro counting mfer. Men in my family just have their metabolisms increase after 30 for some reason. I'm still eating whole frozen pizzas and store bought snack cakes like a fatass.
I had to call my dad and grandpa thinking I had cancer, but they were 200lbs+ till their late-20s/early-30s and then they just dropped to 150lbs or less at the same age as me. Guess I'm lucky or something to some people.
Either way, I'm a small now and I want to get some more cool surp to wear.
    >>
If you're losing weight and don't know why, consider diabetes. Do you experience excessive urination and excessive thirst? Are you constantly fatigued? Do you eat and drink whatever you want but still lose weight inexplicably? Go buy a blood sugar test kit or ask your doctor for the urine test. The earlier you start treatment the better your chances of avoiding permanent nerve and blood vessel damage!

    >>65606625
Oh don't worry about that. I already got a full battery of tests after I lost the first 40lbs. It's not the beetus, they said I'm at the cusp of pre-beetys, but they said that anyone on a high sugar diet after 30 will appear that way. Nope, just burn calories a lot now. I also plateaued at 148-152lbs, so as long as I don't lose more weight, I'm not worried.

I ask again since we are still on it a bit. Anyone have any good recommendations for repro gear and uniforms. Stuff that re-enactor communities use? I wanna find and setup a pre ww1 French getup with the Kepi, blue overcoat and the dumb red pants. Among other stuff
    >>
    >>65606794
Hikishop tends to be the go to for beginner shit. Just note it is a Chinese company so the quality can be hit or miss. For the better stuff I would try to contact any French unit that's looking for bodies WWI or not, totally recommend this because some units can be absolute stitch nazis on the stupidest shit. That said a lot of units are willing people on, but WWI tends to be more niche compre WWII.
Just trying save you money and from disappointment if no unit wants you. Rockford has large WWI usually in the Spring so that might be worth checking.
    t. WW2 renactor (Not telling what unit since we're kinda of niche unit).

Good info thanks. I'll refine a bit tho. Im not necessarily looking to outfit for an actual unit or get into reenactment. Mostly just goofing around range shenanigans so quality can be a toss up.
Nice tho Hikishop appears to have what I need with Kepi+red pants+coat. There appear to be 2 a .biz and .com and I saw some people say one or the other. whats your take? Also Chinese quality/fit be damned i wont mind for what i'll be doing with it.
    >>
.biz has free shipping but some items are priced a bit higher than on the .com site to adjust for that. Because of shipping costs and import fees nowadays I would order off .biz
    >>
    >>65606936
Yeah, yeah, yeah I haven't heard that one before. Whole year I've been getting that joke. Shit this happened to my dad in the late 80s and apparently his friends called him Ryan White when he dropped the weight.

Neat. Interesting enough tho. .biz only has the madder red cavalry officers trouser. vs .com having the madder red infantry. Madder red infantry +shipping off .com comes out lower than madder red officers without shipping. Even with the price diff of the other items in my cart, the pants tip the scale for .com being cheaper even with the shipping.
So ill go with .com for this order, but ill keep it in mind for other orders.

Real stupid question. Would full disassembly and reassembly of a lee enfield no4 change the zero? I know if you don't tighten the screws just right for the best lockup it will screw with the accuracy but what about zero? I thought I had rusting under wood (I didn't I was just paranoid) and decided to take it to the range and it was 4" high and 4" right compared to last range outing. Same bullet weight handloads and did it with both IMR4895 and some BL-C2 loads I was testing at the time.

Tried to buy 300 rounds of hxp .303 off some old fag at a gun show today. He wanted 360 and I wouldn't pay more than 300. I think that's pretty fair. Guy was a dickhead and his buddies were butting in on the negotiation. Whatever, don't sell anything and smell your buddies farts at the table.

So I finally moved to a non-homosexual state that allows me to have a C&R. I've got the form and plan to fill it out, but is there anything I should know before submitting it? I know it gives the ATF the right to audit me, but what does that entail? I've yet to ever sell a gun in my life, and I don't plan to do so. Are they going to anal probe me for buying old Mausers?
    >>
    >>65616031
    >but what does that entail?
Unless they get a warrant all they can ask is to inspect your bound book, which you can do either at the address you use for the C&R or you can bring it to the nearest ATF Field Office.

It's literally ogre if you just want cheap stuff. You can occasionally find a Yugo mauser or a mosin though, but be prepared to spend like $400.
    >>
    >>65616344
Carcanos can be found for $300 or less and you don't even have to settle for rti if you look.
Good K31s can be found for $500 when the import batches hit.
Star 30m is a cheap as dirt wonder nine. This is likely missable content once the current glut runs out

    >>
    >>65616418
The problem with Carcanos is the ammo. 6.5 is like $1 a round now, and lord help you if you need 7.35.
    >>
    >>65616452
That sucks, but still cheaper than any 7.7jap ammo (especially the fmj that will acutally feed reliably past the 3rd rd unlike the cheaper soft point(in my gun))
If you intend to reload are bullets in this caliber prohibitively expensive (i am about to search this right now)
I have been saving brass and wanted to give it a shot anyways
    >>
    >>65616344
South American/Spanish Mausers are high quality and still cheap. Some were even rechambered to 308 prior to being surplused out.
    >>
    >>65616472
I saw a very nice one at an lgs. Chilean i think
It was gorgeous, near mint on the exterior, but i think they wanted $7-800 for it which was too much to impulse buy without researching
    >>
    >>65616452
    >The problem with Carcanos is the ammo. 6.5 is like $1
The ammo is the least of the issue with carcanos. Sure, it ain't cheap, but the worst part is it won't shoot for shit out of what's available. I got a $120 one at a Big R back in the day and I was able to inspect it before I bought, so I'm good. My buddy got one from J&G a year ago and it was basically a smooth bore and had so much pitting, I'm shocked they didn't operate like porting. PPU ammo was keyholing under 50yds.
My carcano also functions fine with .266" factory ammo, but I paid $150 to get a .269" mold for completely proper sized bullets. Even when we tried my properly sized loads in his gun, keyholing was less of an issue, but groups were almost 6" at 50yds from a rest. In mine it's just a little over an inch.
The only ones left are just the worst of the worst.

Many of them don't have a pot to piss in besides their home equity, a pension collected 20 - 30 years ago, and *maybe* some money they got from their parents' estates. It's why they go white as a sheet when someone advocates shrinking social security by a single dollar, and look at you like a wounded animal when you offer less than what they ask at gun shows.

Theyre out there, just gotta find them. The other anon isnt far off though. At this current point in time, boomers are truly staring down their mortality and they are grasping whatever is left. Depending on their family and/or economic standing this means theyre gonna fleece the fuck out of you or theyre going to like seeing their hobby continue on to the younger generation. Like with all generations, people are dictated by their personalities. There are shitbags in all of them, its just that time (and lack of any remianing) really lays it bare
    >>
    >>65619005
I bought a spam can to go along with it, but I'm not actually sure how to open it so I have that to figure out. I will also need to get a cleaning kit and stuff, since as I mentioned this is my first gun.
Paid $340 for the rifle and $265 for 380 rounds, through a friend of a friend. The action feels nice and the bore looked decent enough to me. I just wanted something old and cool that wasn't going to cost an arm and a leg to shoot. I don't know if thats an amazing price or not, but when I went to the gun store near my house, even the nugget and norinco SKS were more than I paid, for just this rifle so I'm feeling pretty happy regardless
    >>
    >>65619029
You use a spam can opener. 70cpr for 70s Romanian surplus is fine. That stuff is generally consistent and doesn't suffer from issues like hard primers (Yugo) or pissin hot loads (Turk).

Nugget is a m1891/30, nothing special, izhevsk 1943 built, must've been retrofitted at some point with the brass handguard because izhevsk stopped fitting them with brass handguard accoutrements and sling slots before 1943. Stock is in great condition. The original seller claimed this was a finnish capture based on a dubious "S" in a circle stamp, but I don't personally believe that, and think instead it's just a normal izhevsk with a post-war retrofit.

what is the going rate for a Remington contract nugget these days? LGS surprisingly has one and its the first time I have ever seen one in person. Yes it is common for the feed lips to be distorted. I had Bloke from BoTR trying to help me troubleshoot it in the C&R discord like 6 years ago. I got tired of messing with it and with the crazy nature of the gun market during the coof I made my money back.

So Ive read everywhere that replacing the springs (I know at least the one that handles recoil) and the bolt stop for a C96 no matter the condition is a must.

Do I just say fuck it and buy the complete kit from wolf springs or whatever?
Should I go for a newly made bolt stop or a original in good condition that I can inspect and guarantee condition?

I already fired it and it works great but from a preventative standpoint I want to make sure I do whats needed so I can take it to the range every time I want.

Why is every PSL rifle called an SVD or a "Dragunov". local gunstore was trying to a PSL for 8k.

Holy fuck you can't be serious, did you get a pic of the tag on it? Only reason to call it a svd/Dragunov is so someone who doesn't know any better who has a hole burning in their pocket thinks they're getting a "real russian" DMR

I hate how some boomers list guns with absolutely nothing on bore condition and never bother to clarify when asked. Do some people never shoot their guns?

They look vaguely similar. Also remember that it's NOT AR-10 NOT FAL NOT FN-49 NOT G3 NOT AK-47 etc.
