Ok so you REPLACE the center section, with a Mobik dispenser. They lay sideways like in a rifle magazine, maybe double stack who gives a shit, and you put them on rollers on a conveyor system in the APC mobik-box. There is a chute out the back to dispense mobiks timed to the engine speed. You shit them out the back off rollers laying prone in place. This means they can be dumped really fast.
Of course this is an APC but IFVs are just drone bait.

Why? Despite some anachronistic features, it's superior to its IRL inspiration.
    >>
    >>65603761
Because the original designs were made by people that were fans of that era of military hardware. Some of the newer ones that are based on ww2 and cold war designs like the Hippogrif afv(it's just an fv501 saladin)aren't nearly as bad with that.
    >>
    >>65602951
Honestly only thing I'd do is swap the multi laser for a las cannon. Gives it a bit of anti armor fire power and you can use the bolter in the hull and firing port weapons for anti infantry work.
They really should make a model and rules for that.

    >>
    >>65603812
I'm not an expert but the chimera possibly doesn't have a big enough powerplant to drive a lascannon. Besides the guard got a new vehicle for 11th that is basically a lascannon team if they were fast as fuck boi. You could throw a bigger generator in the chimera sure, but then it would probably be able to carry less dudes, and that's it's primary function, being a transport and mobile cover for dudes.

    >>
    >>65603972
    multi-model like the CV90
anti-air platoon in every armor and mech company
additional at, mortar, assault gun, command, ambulance, etc models
    >>
    >>65603976
The chimera already kind of does that. It's the base hull for a lot of vehicles
    >>
    >>65603836
Of course it can drive (and fire, in case you was thinking I was making a stupid pun) a lascannon, you can fit an entire heavy weapon team of three lascannons in there. Hell, cut out the dumb passenger lasguns and poke the lascannons through the hole and now you have a chimera with the firepower of three lascannons.
    >>
    >>65604020
    But what about heavy lascannons?
    >>
    >>65604029
That's what the new wheeled vehicle should have had instead of a standard las cannon.
On a separate note even if you reduced the capacity by half for this new power pack you'd still be able to fit a whole weapons squad in there which would make for a nasty little fast attack option
    >>
    >>65603833
I've always assumed the original soundtrack had particular copyrighted properties, in those cases. Maybe barely even worth a lawyer's letter when it's some randomer, but a reasonably wealthy company is much more tempting bait.
    >>
    >>65603976
    >anti-air platoon in every armor and mech company

    >>
    >>65604020
12th gave you a vehicle for that, the centaur review, it has the firing deck 12 ability, which means any troop embarked in it can fire out of it. That's six heavy weapons teams(2 models to a team)zooming around the map making your enemy really want that vehicle dead.
    >>
    >>65604417
Thank you for correcting my acronym you stupid auto correct, that should be RSV(Rapid Strike Vehicle).
    >>
    >>65603836
You see the size of the Lascannon's battery in its dismounted form, and it's small enough to fit in a Space Marine's backpack without making him too cumbersome. If you really want to commit to crunch, you could say it reduces the Chimera's troop capacity by 1 for the battery station.

all warhammer tanks look stupid because of the obsession with the track profile from that ww1 tank. it's like the bongs can't let go of "we made the first tank m8" so they have to ruin everything they design to remind you.
    >>
    >>65602951
It doesn't really need much redesigning. The Chimera is already the most practical 40k tank.

All I'd really say you'd need is to change the hull-mounted gun so it has some side to side traverse, and maybe remove the gimbaled lasguns in the back in favor of just regular firing ports for whatever arms the guys in the troop compartment are carrying.

30k there was a wheeled version, but the tracked version now the Chimera replaced it, citing that the rubber wheels were weak and the tracks allowed it to have more armor plating. Of course that was a fucking lie because the wheeled version was 2 tons more than the tracked version.

    Kronus Pattern Chimera
    >>
The chimera doesn't really have much wrong with its design, unlike this stupid wannabe baneblade. I'm sick of every modern 40k unit having to have 50 bajillion guns
    >>
    >>65602951
the real issue is the really wonky doctrine that mech guard have
the leman russ moves at the speed of a guy on a bicycle, so there isnt much point to having mech infantry to keep up with it
and the russ is designed for infantry support in an infantry centric army, so either the mech infantry slow down to let the russ catchup or the russ gets left behind while the mech troops zoom out of the breakthrough without it

this essentially means mech infantry are entirely autonomous units who do not operate alongside tanks, something along the lines of a modern day stryker brigade rather than a soviet motor rifle battalion that you would imagine
which also leaves open the question why they never invented a cruiser tank to go with the chimera
    >>
    >>65607284
the gun bloat is because of power creep, tanks were lagging behind compared to swarms and so they had to keep getting buffed over and over due to action economy
the leman russ even had to get the ability to fire twice when moving slowly, because the game hit the point where you had to literally double the firepower of one of the hardest hitting guns in the game just to keep it relevant

so the proliferation of mobile death fortresses is simply a result of having to release new toys that fit the meta
    >>
    >>65607284
    >The chimera doesn't really have much wrong with its design
It has the ground clearance of a race car. It has the rough terrain approach of dozering a path to level a trail. Neither meant for maneuverability or scouting, but ironically better suited for paved roads of urban warfare. That goes for most Imperial vehicles absent from a trench line.
    >>
    >>65603972
I kind of want to draft up some rules for that honestly. Seems like something the guard would have made
    >>
    >>65607284
    >gatling gun in a fixed hull mount
    >those silly little nipple machine guns
This has to be the dumbest of all the Imperial Guard tank designs.

That said, it makes a really nice Stug with the turret removed and the main gun mounted to the hull.
    >>
    >>65608689
I think its on a little ball mount but it still has a very limited range of motion, same with the frontal melta guns that can only engage targets that the tank is perfectly aligned with
    >>
    >>65608689
You think that's bad, take a look at the storm lord. I think that's the Banablade variant specialized for dealing with hordes of infantry.
    >>
    >>65609005
Baneblade chassis stuff gets a bit of a pass because their guns mostly made sense and they're essentially Bolos. The Dorn doesn't because it's just Russ But Bigger (AND WE ALREADY HAD THE FUCKING MACHARIUS).

I always like when that and the lore matches up. Like with the eldar for example, before Slaanesh they had species wide reincarnation immortality, and bred like rabbits. So it didn't matter if you had a big fancy helmet with peacock feathers arranged in a fan, you get your head blown off you'll be out of commission for a year at most. The ceaftworlders still maintain that aspect because 65 million years of cultural inertia is a bitch to overcome.

Stormlord is a bit less retarded once you realize it's a specialized troop transport rather than "infantry hunter". It doesn't really need a rotating turret because it's job is driving at an enemy strongpoint suppressing the shit out of it before the guys on the back jump out and take it. It still has the side sponsons and turrets to take out whatever isn't in front of it and for heavier vehicles it should have a dedicated anti-tank support somewhere behind it.

I introduce the Mechanicus to the magical art that is WELDING, so that all their shit doesn't need to be riveted together. It's the year 42,000, not the year 1917. We are past rivets.
And if they make a stink about it, I upload Bonzi Buddy to the Golden Throne. Every faction trips over themselves to stop the evil AI from taking over, only to destroy each other, leaving the purple monkey to rule over the remainder of the universe.
    >>
    >>65613549
Bruh, the golden throne is a mix of eldar and necron tech. I doubt either of those races use anything resembling our current operating systems. Alternatively The Emperor coded his own custom OS for it.
    >>

These things shoot capital ships out of the sky by arcing rounds into them from the other side of the planet. Bolos are basically the Goku of scifi tanks, every new mark is another Super Saiyan level. The franchise operates pretty much in the same manner as DBZ, really. 40k has powerful stuff, but the power levels are established and Bolos ain't scared. The Imperial Navy isn't going to beat a Bolo head on in a traditional attack, it's going to need to do some shit like concentrate on the continental crust the Bolo is on and sink it under the magma. That is doable, sure, but you've lost the planet you ostensibly wanted and likely an entire subsector fleet with it, because the Bolo is going to be doing some crazy shit that turns the engagement into a race of attrition. The way the Imperium beats a Bolo is with psykers, but now we're in the realm of the most bullshit scifi tank ever conceived possibly getting daemon possessed, which probably leads to exterminatus level actions again.
    tl;dr Bolos are Goku
