    Get a G41.
    I have two G41s and one G43.
The G41 you can actually shoot (as long as it's not like a unsanded, numbers matching, $10k rifle because that would be criminal). The G41 is really nice to shoot, I like it way more than any of the other ww2 semi autos. It's also not hard to tune if you wanted to reduce cycle speed to protect the gun. They have repro pistons that you can modify to make it so gasses are vented faster or you can put in a stiffer recuperator spring.
The G43 spent it's whole life getting over stressed. The metal is already fatigued. Putting a "shooter's kit" on it is like putting rubber care product on a dry-rotted tire. It's pointless because the damage is already done.
Any use will continue to fatigue the already weakened metal.

I picked up two G41s because I wanted one nice rifle for collecting purposes and another for shooting. The G43 I have is specifically for collecting and not shooting.

    >green tip 5.56 is legal
    >nothing equivalent for 7.62 is legal due to not having a sporting purpose
    But why
    >>
    >>65598165
Historically, I recall it was the Magnum Research Lone Eagle single shot pistol that was used as justification for "AP ammo fired from a pistol" ban of .308 black tip. Which never made sense to me as it was also chambered in .30-06, but that was still available in black tip through Shotgun News.
    >>
    >>65598171
    >Fudd gun can use black tip
    >7.62 banned because pistol even though rifles aren't pistols
I have thoughts before I do not know how to reconcile how a rifle is the same a pistol and so this very specific ammo is banned from rifles.
    >>
    >>65598165
    >ban of .308 black tip
I have just returned from the rabbit hole this sent me down and learned that the Magnum Research Lone Eagle does not meet the federal definition of handgun because it does not have a "short stock" to facilitate singlehanded shooting
    >T-they obviously meant stock as a synonym for frame or receiver
None of those terms are defined in the Gun Control Act of 1968 so the M61 AP ban is unconstitutionally vague (hinged machinegun receiver charges have been dismissed for the same reason) and probably fails the Bruen test even if you somehow convinced a judge that the Magnum Research Lone Eagle is "designed to be held and fired by the use of a single hand".

Someone mail the Attorney General a letter with these findings so that he may reverse the ban and spare us the hassle of court proceedings. I would do it myself but I have no legal standing for a lawsuit because I do not own anything chambered in .308 Winchester / 7.62 NATO

Obongo tried to ban green tip M855 during his tenure, but the gun community raised enough of a stink that several congressmen/senators pushed back on it and the ATF withdrew their proposed ban. I've had a similar set up but with an aimpoint comp M2 on my PTR with an HK collapsable stock years ago. I traded it for an AK-74 years ago, but, sometimes I put a vortex SE on a claw mount though which definitely sits higher. Unfortunately I probably won't be able to get the same B&T G3 rail, but I do have an HK collapsible stock on the way, and I will be mounting an aimpoint and probably a spuhr foreend in the near future. A chin weld isn't bad, if it's really too much for you you can always install or make a riser, but I prefer them for unmagnified optics as it makes it easier for passive aiming.

Yeah the good days have come and gone that's for sure. When I came of age in the early/mid 2010s, I got into AKs, but one by one sold them all off, and have had the itch for one ever since. Also, wasn't super thrilled with the build quality of that DSA FALO. The wood felt cheap, as did they synthetic furniture, the flash hider had an unusual amount of play in it, and the gas regulator was very stiff. Stiffer than the cosmolined brazilian kit builds I would assemble, and was impossible to adjust after firing. It had a nice trigger, though.

There might come the day you'll find one for a good price. Funnily enough my first gun the day after I turned 18 was a WASR, I bought one of those VZs too, and an Arsenal SLR-106, eventually owned an SLR-104 and a PSL but sold or traded them all off over the years.

QED, battle rifle is a dumber term than assault rifle and even more made up. The historical term for full powered, gas operated rifles is automatic rifle which was probably to distinguish them from bolt-action and (heavy) machineguns. Select fire was optional but automatic fire was the expectation by default. Today, they're referred to as light machineguns to distinguish them from individual rifles though M14's and FAL's had been slated to fill this role hence the select fire options

That's where "full power" cartridge and non-automatic fire mode become optional. At this point, I'd genericize them into just a couple of categories.

Machine rifle: cartridge with a practical range of at least 500m and capable of automatic fire.
Examples: Avtomat Fedorova, FN FAL, HK G3
Automatic rifle: same thing but not capable of automatic fire.
    Examples: Neutered copes i e HK 91, SA-58, Springfield M1A

Seeing "AUTOMATIC PISTOL" engraved on original 1911's and its prototypes inspired me to apply the same terminology to "semiauto" rifles.

    >>
    >>65622733
Aiming is much easier with the aperture so just zero the 2 at whatever distance you want. I have never used the 1 notch, I sighted down it a few times and decided it was shitty and just use 2 as my default.

Ain't that just a regular SCAR rear sight flipped backwards with the aperture chopped? And pretty sure the CQC barrel is long enough (and easily replaceable) and that looks like the original AAC flash hider that came on military SCAR-Hs. An expensive undertaking for sure, but not too much at risk.

I'm one of maybe 3 RFBAnons here, and I'll say the same I've always said: watch TNP's review. TL;DR it's a finicky gun but if it tickles your fancy, you'll love it and if you don't, you can easily get rid of it. I'm the one with 5 warranty returns and I still love it to death, but it's far from a "go-to-war" gun.

    Indeed.

Didn't realise there was actually a flash suppressor like that but I guess the long body makes sense to work on a barrel that short
