    >Did you know Japanese sniper rifles were held together by "sliding wood?"
He was destroying a Type 99 Arisaka sniper rifle from a voluntary gun surrender program. This was in the US. Broke my heart and made me want to beat that """artist""" to death with that stock

Here's a pic of some guns seized by, or surrendered to, the Swedish police about a decade ago.
It features a few rare and highly collectable pieces.

Thankfully, museums and the like are (at least in theory) given a chance to rummage through the piles and pick out anything they'd like to save before all the guns get dumped into a giant scrap metal shredder and sent off to the nearest steel mill.

That's not a French Apache revolver, that's an American 'My Friend' knuckleduster revolver. Far simpler affair, and probably more viable, it's a 'Derringer' sized pepperbox revolver (though a few with proper barrels exist), chambered for small rimfire cartridges like .22 and .32, and if you grip it around the cylinder you can use that grip to strike with.
The way I recall it, the My Friend was very deliberately saved for a museum because it was considered so very unusual, but I'm not so sure about all the others, unfortunately. That Mauser pistol was an actual Red 9, and it may not have been saved.

The m/45BE might just have been from the police's own armories to fill out the image (they certainly still have the things now), though I suppose it could very well have been stolen from the police, so if it wasn't that it was left in an amnesty, it'd probably have been considered evidence. Police here are NOT good at their jobs by any metric.

Used to work for a police department and we had a machine that would chomp up metal gun parts. We had barrels full of eviscerated guns and we weren't allowed to take the guns or buy them even after cases had been closed. All we could do was feed the gun eater. An unfathomable number of guns. Imagine rooms filled with guns. Like the entire room is just shelves with guns and carts with guns and then stacks of guns in boxes 6 ft tall each in a fucking pile in the corner. They all get destroyed in the end.
    >>
    >>65594957
I used to know a guy whose job was to feed into a furnace, confiscated and surrendered firearms for the RCMP and other jurisdictions (VPD, VicPD). He said it was the most miserable job he had. He saw lots of old classics get fed into the furnace he operated. I think he said the tipping point for him was when he had throw some expensive and rare hunting rifle (cost in the 5 digits..? I dunno, maybe some hunter here will know what it was) and an equally expensive scope. He actually stopped and turned to the Mountie standing behind him checking each one off on a clipboard and confirmed it was to be destroyed. He then argued about it's scarcity without success. Officer later looked it up and told him that rifle was surrendered because the owner died and his wife and kids didn't want it.

    Heartbreaking.

He quit shortly after as a big part of the problem was also the toxic work culture the RCMP thrive in. They despise regular civilians and look down on them all.

Some guns are stronger than others, but fundamentally, what your hammer or striker is doing when you fire a cartridge (or bust a cap), is smacking and deforming a soft metal cup. That absorbs a LOT of the impact from the strike, and the primer/cap suffers it instead.

Without that softer metal object to take the hit, then inevitably that energy has to go somewhere else, and that's simply gonna cause more wear than when firing with ammunition. How and where that wear happens exactly will vary and depend entirely on the design in question, it could be going somewhere pretty sturdy, but wear is still wear, and at some point it'll cause problems.

tl;dr snapcaps, proper ones you can actually test firing pins with, are worthwhile.

    >shooting revolver
    >one of the cartridges is a 'squib' load
    >ergo the machine fucked up and didn't properly load powder into it at the factory
    >no powder means the bullet doesn't go very far
    >but the primer still has enough energy and pressure to pop the bullet out and lodge it into the bore
    >where it stops, engraved into the rifling
    >shoot the next round
    >bullet hits up against the ass of the previous bullet
    >front bullet moves a bit but not much
    >as revolvers don't have sealed breaches this step can be repeated multiple times
    >without the revolver becoming an outright handbomb
    >because the pressure can still keep venting (increasingly violently) at the cylinder gap
    >repeat until you feel that something is wrong
    >possibly until the barrel is so full of stuck bullets that they are sticking out the forcing cone
    >preventing the cylinder from moving
This usually ruins at least the barrel, as it'll tend to get bulged from this, but it could also damage the frame, depending on how bad it gets. Straight blowback guns can also push through a squib load brundlefuck in a similar manner to this, as the excess pressure can force the bolt back faster (though you can still get out of battery detonations that way).

Anyway, squib loads aren't common, but they can happen. If your gun, instead of going *BANG!*, instead goes just *pop* or *pfeh*, and has no recoil, fails to cycle if it's an automatic, then don't load and fire the next round. Unload and then inspect your barrel for an obstruction. You can save yourself from a potential injury and potential weapon damage.

I don't need to try retard, "owning" being past tense would imply you've broken multiple mausers.
I've repeatedly dry fired my mauser and ithe bolt hasn't miraculously exploded back.
So obviously this is a different issue like possibly TURK ROUNDS which were loaded up like proof rounds way the hell back and has broken down over time, hopefully i don't have to explain to you what happens when you cram a bunch of smaller pouder grains into a cartridge meant for larger grains.

Pretty sure it's from southern Algeria, or the neighboring subsaharan states to the south of Libya and Algeria.
Could possibly be from Somalia too, they bought I shitload of old Nazi-era weapons from East Germany including Stg44s.

    >Carcanos, STGs, Thompsons, Mausers, a singular MP41, various slavshit, Czech Sa26s, Chinese SKS, rare late-model Chinese Tyoe-56-C AK with a sidefolder
This is almost certainly a photo taken in Algeria or somewhere close to Algeria, with most of these weapons bought from Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia in the 60s.

Only retard is you if you break a mayser bolt the way you did and blaming it on "dry firing", i dry fire out my window at passing black people and i never had my shit explode
    >>
    >>65588871
Never. They are, in all but law, incapable of mass confiscation. Physically? They only have police support in 2/13 provinces, soon to be 1/13 and the RCMP would be strained over these reasons. Logistically? They can't even get the declared ones without fucking it up. Hell, they don't even know where most of them are because the majority weren't on a registry.
Only 5% of all firearms actually got declared (declared, still in civilian possession).
Every canadian government before trudeau knew it would be a fool's errand and just grandfathered them in.
Now they're so scared they had to kick the amnesty deadline down the road twice over.
    >>
    >>65595101
The RCMP is such a fucking joke. They point their noses up at civvies but they're ridiculously incompetent and retarded. The buyback is the source of so many fuckup stories and it never ends.
Hell, the 2020 gun bans were all kickstarted by what was probably an RCMP planted shooter.
