How are we holding up while everyone else is enjoying SBRs and suppressors?
    >>
    >>65575632

We can now get non-AW AOWs as regular "firearms". This includes 12-gauges that were manufactured without a stock but with a barrel under 18". So pistol-gripped 12-gauge "not a shotguns" with like a 12" barrel are OK now if you buy it through an FFL willing to do the Form 2. I think 2A Zone in Upland is going to make insane amounts of money in the next 2 weeks because they're the main FFL that does those services in CA.

Don't worry, some of us are also in cuck states whose laws still require following the NFA. Although I do already own an SBR and 1 suppressor :^)

frankly, it's not worth it to uproot my whole life just for guns. my career, family, and friends are all here. my late parents gave it their all to raise me here. i'm staying until the bitter end. if i was a social outcast with no kids i could understand the appeal of just getting up and leaving on a whim. secondly, (unless you live in a irredeemable shithole like compton or oakland) CA is a beautiful state to live in, politics aside.

Not from Cali, but in a similar metro shithole: for most people the reason is the fact that unless you're doing some bullshit job that inexplicably plays 150k a year you barely break even on day to day living expenses and it becomes impossible to move out. Unless you're fortunate to still live with your parents into adulthood with a decent well paying job that transfers over into other states with lower costs of living and they don't need you for bills or charge you much on rent.

Unironically, it's still the cultural center of the US and has a greater GDP on its own than most of the other 50 states combined. We have the best food, the best music comes from here, the best nightlife anywhere you can find. Beautiful nature just a drive away. Coastal cities with amazing weather and great people. Silicon Valley is still one of the best places you can hope to find work. Our power grid is so efficient we're a net exporter of energy. Just LA and SF have tons of amazing history and culture that you really have to live here to appreciate. Honestly, I don't ever plan to leave. I couldn't live anywhere else.

The main draw of "California cuisine" is fusion. Cooks here are unafraid to experimentally mix Asian, Latino, African (lol UN food rations), whatever food to try and make something better. Lots of trendy bougie boutique restaurants and such, a lot of them fail but some hold on. On the flip side is the huge number of cheap, good Asian and Latino hole-in-the-walls, most of which localize their cuisine in interestingly tasty ways.

tl;dr; CA's big thing is mixing different ethnic cuisines to make something new and trendy. Very unique but also kind of hit or miss.

That makes sense, but throwing shit at shit is how you eventually find good combinations.
    >>
    >>65593036

Basically yeah. I guess the combo of noveau rich tech workers and entertainment industry trendwhores (both of which are desperate for new experiences and want to show how "cultured" they are) keep the ethnic fusion cuisine train going with tons of seed money so that all the home cooks with a dream can shoot their shot and mostly fail. If all that tech and entertainment money vanished the experimental culinary scene would collapse overnight, along with a lot of the nightlife and weird hobbyist economy.
    >>

The weather and the national parks in norcal are the only things the state has going for it. Culture is such a fucking meme its insane, there is literally 0 chance your life is made better by tiktok influencers moving to la. Food is the same or even better literally anywhere in the south, your hipster "vietnamese style sandwich" is shit. Its 2026 and any music worth listening to is either old or comes from some skitzo in a basement that only posts online, you will cope and say you pick up women at shows but you never have any proof. The only upside to living and working in cali is that the economy is so insanly inflated that if you can manage to bag a 6 figure job you can live homeless for a couple years and then flee to a place with less beaners and jeets

Is 200k in Cali impressive? I don't think it's as great as you think it is.
    >>
    >>65593424
As an LA native I've always felt that the climate is actually really bad psychologically. People need those changes and extremes in weather, it gives you a sense of time going by and breaks up the monotony, and without it people fall into this weird hedonistic stasis that afflicts a lot of people in SoCal and the culture, especially transplants who come from places with real seasons right out of high school or college and have never really learned how to function as adults in a normal place.

I live somewhere with real seasons now, albeit relatively mild ones (we get snow but not a ton and it almost never gets below the teens) and there's something that's both comforting and motivating about watching the world change through the year, it's so much more real and tangible and grounded than the weird uncanny purgatory that is SoCal.
    >>
    >>65593061

I personally avoid those places because of the insane prices, tiny portions (holy shit it's six chocolate candy-sized bits of food on a plate for $250 because we mixed truffles and saffron!) and clientele. That said I did notice a Michelin starred place in my area offer something with legit barnyard straw in it.
    >>
    >>65593762

And having seven Walmart supercenters, none of which sell "high powered" ammo like .223 doesn't fix it. You were born in the shit and you will die in the shit. Texas is just California for people with lower IQ. I'm not from California and I don't even like it that much but the Dallas area is a fucking shit streak and I would never even consider moving there. Most people either go featureless or Compmag for their CA ARs now. If you go Compmag all you need to do is break it open once to eject said mag then load whatever detachables you want, across the Nevada state line of course. Absolutely not in the desert east of LA where there's no cops, nope. Everyone else just buys a Juggernaut grip (so the axis of the thumb is above the trigger so you can legally wrap it around) or one of the fin grips with the fin all the way to one side so you just rest your thumb on the ambi safety pivot. It's not hard, and it lets you legally use all the 30+ round Freedom Week 1.0 mags you totally got in 2019.

you know, I never thought of it this way and it makes so much sense- having lived in a state now with ACTUAL seasonal changes as the year rolls on. It does give you a sense of urgency and a grasp of time. It grounds you to earth. In California, it seems like a never-ending monotonous one-shot year. The only real marker is the year-end celebrations. You'll be celebrating that, then realize you need to get your date for the Pumpkin Patch photos for October. The years pass like nothing

    >>65600033

Actually no. Of all the things wrong with CA, it actually has a proper no-retreat fuck-you-eat-lead Castle Doctrine under PC 198.5.

    >Any person using force intended or likely to cause death or great bodily injury within his or her residence shall be presumed to have held a reasonable fear of imminent peril of death or great bodily injury to self, family, or a member of the household when that force is used against another person, not a member of the family or household, who unlawfully and forcibly enters or has unlawfully and forcibly entered the residence and the person using the force knew or had reason to believe that an unlawful and forcible entry occurred.
    >As used in this section, great bodily injury means a significant or substantial physical injury.

It's basically the only thing CA has over a couple other cuck states. You can legally blast any home invader who breaks into your place... With your cucked roster pistol, muzzleloading musket, or maybe a fixed-mag AR that jams up on the first shot.

tl;dr: CA has a Castle Doctrine that makes other blue states envious, but the real problem is what guns you have left to use in those cases.

What's always been weird to me is that the transplants from other places, who you'd think would be most appalled, are the ones who seem to brush it off the easiest, but I guess they're self-selecting and come to LA already so invested in their fantasies of what it represents and what they can be there that reality doesn't creep in - or it's just that only malignant narcissistic sociopaths would willingly move to LA in this day and age, which checks out too.

Despite every naysayer, to live a miserable existence in California, I declined and moved to Maine in 2015. Zero regrets, absolutely enjoy having Colt and Franchi. Vote against every anti-2A measure and remind people what happened to California with those promises about "It's just about safety" that transformed into bans and mandatory buybacks. California will never get better, it will only ever get worse. The claims about food are bullshit by the way, it's not 1995 anymore.
    >>

It's rooted in projection. The less someone wants to confront the fact that their way of life is broken, the more shattered their fantasy is when you show them there are people living elsewhere who are thriving with less taxes/gun laws/gov involvement in private life etc. They often violently lash out in response to this with a flurry of ad-hominems, like literal children. This mentality is wildly common in antigunners, troons, and every shade of leftist (so most Californians) and fun to watch in action.

I'm a CA refugee myself, but moved somewhere I actively wanted to be and will shit on CA to anybody who'll listen. I see that attitude a lot from friends/acquaintances back home and ones who moved to some random place just because it was cheap. What's funny about a lot of California people is that they've either never really spent any time anywhere else, or grew up somewhere really shitty and moved to CA immediately after high school/college, so they've really got no actual frame of reference for the rest of the country and base their opinions completely on stereotypes and fiction.

It's sad to me too because I know a ton of people whose lives would be so much better elsewhere but they're convinced CA is the only option for them, like my little brother is an exceptional guitarist and could make a decent living in the area where I live now, just playing in some cover band doing paid bar and wedding gigs, but instead he's working like 80 hours a week doing 3 or 4 different part-time jobs (bartending, TV production grunt work, etc.), only getting sporadic music work that basically only pays the cost of getting there and maintaining the equipment, and barely scraping by having to live with roommates in a shitty area when he's 36 years old, and yet he's absolutely convinced that LA is the only place where he could possibly have a successful music career, and that's despite the fact that he's toured up and down the west coast a bunch and his old band used to do annual PNW tours *specifically* because they could be profitable there and make more money in 2-3 weeks on tour than the whole rest of the year in LA.

    >>
    >people who have never been to CA shit on it because they heard things
    >people who moved out of CA shit on it to try to fit in and be accepted
    >people who don't hate California unconditionally are coping
    doesn't add up

I travel a lot for work and I'm not even from CA, or the US for that matter. Been lucky enough to see a lot of the country. There's a lot I can't stand about this place. Like getting trapped when I moved here: rent being 60% of your take-home and groceries/gas the remaining 40% doesn't make moving easy, let alone retiring. But I'd take it over shitholes like MS or UT. Utah is fucking rotten, spiritually ugly, geographically desolate, and the people are cuckold cultist vermin. Most of TX is just an equally trashy, gender-swapped CA. The main reason these people just unconditionally spaz about their fellow countryment is because they're coping about what a fucking dump their state is.

I like Alabama and Ohio a lot. Lots of civilised black cuties near Cleveland eye-fucking me all week, I'd for sure go back. Want to see Oregon and Wisconsin.

Its a well funded effort to spread marxist/communist programs and ideology. They target California and New York especially and other big cities. The elections are rigged. Laugh and California all you want their efforts and corruption are spreading to more states. The goal is to ban private ownership of guns through continuous incremental regulation no matter how stupid, ever increasing taxes, uncontrolled goverment spending which is wasted, more immigration, more homeless. It is spreading across the US slowly but surely. They have control over education and the courts and most of the federal and state government elected and unelected officials. They take Texas and the other remaining key red states and you will get the same laws and restrictions and taxes.

I figured out what's wrong with California, why it's so retarded.

Has anyone else transplanted from SoCal to NorCal, or the other way around? Have you noticed the glaring difference in intelligence of the white people? SoCal has more... questionably evolved "people" but in NorCal the whites are retarded white trash. Everything is done ass backwards. The roads seem to be set up by pants-on-head retards, you go the gym and the dumbells are arranged in a zigzag instead of a straight line (and it's at all gyms for some reason), you go to the store and they have potatoes in the refrigerated section and grapes left out at room temperature. I just can't figure out why they're so retarded out here and it's all white people. It makes it very hard to be racist when I'm surrounded by white retards, and this is why the state is so retarded. They run the government! I'm by Sacramento and it's the most retarded place I've ever lived, and I've lived all over in multiple different states. I think the gold rush brought a bunch of white trash retards here who thought they were gonna get rich finding gold but ended up working in the mines making smarter people rich. If this state were ran by SoCalers, it would be more logical, but the capitol is in a place where even the white people are complete retards. That seems to be how we ended up with retarded laws, our legal system is some fucked up 1850s shit with modern libshit bullshit mixed in. I've worked within the legal systems of multiple states and seriously the law books in California need to be completely scrapped and burned, it should be illegal to write laws like that, in fact it is there's tons of unconstitutional bullshit in there. Sorry for the rant but goddamn NorCal sucks beyond any metric I thought possible, it's got to be the worst place in the country. White trash retards but with libshit views, it's baffling.
    >>
    >>65613354
LA and SF should be their own sovereign states with no say over people who don't live within the cities. As it stands the mass population cities are dictating the laws over people in rural and suburban areas, who don't want what they want, and sometimes vice versa. Something the city people want will get overturned or voted in place by the rural or suburban folk. Cities, even if landlocked, should be their own states and free to fuck themselves up as they please, without having to fight with ruralers or suburbanites to get the laws they want passed. They can be socialist "utopias" and we can have our guns and not be murdered in a home invasion by some imported primitive beast.

I call this the city-state solution and there's literally no flaws. No reason for us to constantly be at each other's throats over politics when different people from different environments want different things, based on their different needs and different lifestyles. That's the purpose of state sovereignty, it's self-determination. We also need to return to a confederation like we were upon our initial founding, over an overbearing federation like we have now. Some east coast retard should have little say over my life, the national government should only handle foreign matters such as trade and war, not micromanage the lives of people thousands of miles away with different cultures.
    >>
    >>65617216

One flaw: The cities constantly try to expand and force everyone around them to be part of the city. We've seen this worldwide. Unless you wall them off and forbid expansion of any kind, this problem will persist.

There really is something fucking wacky going on there. It's like a bizarro world where everything is retarded and ass backward. This was a hotel I stayed at, look at this fucking layout first of all. Normally a hotel has the first number indicating the floor level, here you have to go through a rat maze to find your room. The clerk drew an arrow to my room, and after wandering around lost for 20 minutes even though I had a map of the fucking ridiculous place, i finally found the building the arrow pointed to, only all the numbers were different. The room number started with a 2 despite being on the 3rd floor, yet the map says they start with 4 and the directions and hallways were different than the picture.
