    >seija is the one that got possessed
I wonder if that happened before or after we saw her talking to Raiko. Picrel seems like an obvious slip-up, but honestly I could also see it being a red herring. And this happens in the context of her warning Raiko about the vengeful spirit. If she is possessed here, why is she warning Raiko? I guess this is all downstream of the larger question which is "Who the hell is possessing everyone if it isn't Mizuchi?"

I want to know also. So far the targets have been Kyouko > Yoshika > Satori > Mamizou > Byakuren > Benben > Kagerou. It's weird because Seiga was with Satori as her pet was targeted then shortly after Satori is hit along with Mamizou who were both investigating the incident. Nue also hasn't been seen and she was with Mamizou in the graveyard and we don't know what happened there. At least we know Byakuren is alive somewhere as Benben seems to have met her before being got.

I don't trust Koishi or Mamizou here because it's not lining up with the supposed events of attacks. If Mamizou met met Koishi after being attacked that would place her at Myouren temple and not the forest not to mention she never reverted to a tanuki form at the temple also. So either they're lying or she jobbed twice in short succession which would mean she got possessed after Byakuren which would be really strange to do if you consider the suspect is supposed to be Mizuchi like Mamizou was earlier. I dunno but I think Koishi might be doing some shenanigans here she's already unreliable because of how she is.

Could be but I think it's intentional considering there's a lot of gaps between events that haven't been explained properly such as Seiga and Satori. Not to mention how Koishi is fundementally as a character with her actions being entirely unconcious and up to however she feels at the specific moment.

it's dire the only good thing everybody can say about the manga is the backstory about the fundation of gensokyo, and even that is not discussed at length
    >>
    >>51364769
zun please make this manga good by doing a flashback arc where we see gensokyo shortly after the barrier being established
    >>
    >>51365103
Nah, the only way to salvage it now is to show the Hakurei predecessor being bred by her husband in extensive detail as the story explores their role in Gensokyo.
    >>
    >>51365187
    Her youkai husband, right?
    >>
    >>51365214
She killed countless of them and reduced the rest to domesticated cattle. She'd never let them anywhere near her.
Her husband was clearly human and the sex was mind-blowing.

I don't buy that. How better to solidify the creation of Gensokyo than the marriage of human and youkai, literally? And then you introduce some extra punch to the Hakurei bloodline for future stability. It's a match made in heaven.
    >>
    >>51365291
The new order that she established was not about bringing humans and youkai together but to emasculate them to such an extent that humans can casually waltz into a youkai gambling den and the youkai won't do shit about it and will instead set up a new joint just to make it easier for you to go gambling.
The miko would never taint her noble human blood with that of an inferior species. Youkai are merely tolerated for human amusement, like animals in a petting zoo.
    >>
I would like to know the relationship that the Hakurei predecessor had with Yukari, Eiki, Aya, and the rest.
    >>
    >>51365333
    >emasculate them to such an extent that humans can casually waltz into a youkai gambling den
This is a fairly recent development, however. The early Windows canon states that Gensokyo was wild and chaotic before the Spell Card rules were established, with only the Hakurei shrine maiden reigning supreme on the human side, while youkai throwing their weight around willy-nilly threatened the continued existence of Gensokyo. The current, diplomatic status quo is entirely an effect of Reimu's tenure.
    >>
    >>51365350
I personally thought that it was neat that they showed up Suika and even Mokou were up to then.
    >>
    >>51365333
The new order they agreed to literally benefited the youkais the most as they get to exist without outside world influence and remaining as pure as they can without outside world influence with the hakurei being a glorified watcher, miyadeguchi had a problem with this becasue they are deliberatedly neglecting their work and thus hastly became one
    >>51365645
If we take the PC-98 games as canon before spellcards gensokyo was as peaceful as it is now, remilia showing up and killing humans and youkai out of boredom is what started the spell cards rules because nobody wants to deal with somebody acting like a rabid dog
    >>
Going back to the actual topic of this thread, the monkey was bluffing here, wasn't she? I mean, we started this sequel off with several appearances by Tojiko, who is a living (or otherwise) example of an alternative outcome. It's not like Tojiko's circumstance is a secret, either. Akyuu wrote it plainly in the Symposium. Satori's just trying to catch Mizuchi out on something, right?

Then again, it's just as likely we'll get this reiterated next chapter, since Mizuchi and Tojiko hung out prior, and the latter could have explained the whole thing.
    >>
    >>51365686
Who fucking knows bro this manga is so inconsistent with its rules that it can be whatever
    >>
    >>51365686
Tojiko will probably vanish from Gensokyo when Byakuren and all members at the Myouren temple are dead.
    >>
    >>51365698
No, that's Futo. Tojiko has no beef with boddhists.
    >>
    >>51365686
Sorry, what did you say? I was too focused looking at Cutemaru
    >>
    >>51365686
    Another dose of Bwuh
    >>
    >>51365645
In early canon, Gensokyo had virtually no human inhabitants, and those who did live there had enough power to contend with youkai, so it was just everyone playing around. None of it works with modern canon, and even PMiSS has almost entirely been discarded at this stage.
With the events in FDS, it's all but definitive that the big shift to nonviolence came from the predecessor's generation, and that it had little to do with spell card rules. Reimu was born in the peaceful Gensokyo.
    >>51365680
Despite the barrier making youkai much more independent from human perception defining them, they're still heavily dependent on humans recognition, like with the yamabiko almost vanishing because the humans learned how echoes work. They're pretty different from how they originally were, too, with the original violent aspects all but disappearing, while groups like the Tengu are heavily defined by their attempts at imitating humans.
Despite Gensokyo existing for the youkai and ostensibly controlling the humans there, the humans effectively just act as they please while the youkai can't do anything to stop them and instead are forced to expend their efforts to keep the humans safe who just enjoy their lives without real worries.
The youkai are nothing more than humanity's servants.

She's not bluffing she's trying to figure out why Mizuchi is acting how she is. She's only ever known vengeful spirits from the underworld and believes they cannot change which is why she had her confrontation with Mizuchi here. I think it's likely Mizuchi is becoming like Tojiko with her grudge mellowing out enough that she doesn't disappear and just becomes a sort of ghost. But that doesn't really excuse her sudden change in behavior becoming overtly passive and seemingly indifferent to the incident which is implicating her as the main culprit despite her being undeniably innocent here. Supposedly there's 2 Mizuchi's here but that makes zero sense because I don't think vengeful spirits can even duplicate themselves. I think it's more likely a copycat or somebody trying to frame Mizuchi. Though I wonder maybe her grudge was somehow split off her and become it's own entity hence why so many people think there's 2 Mizuchi's and why she seemingly mellowed out so quickly.

What do you want? People had convincing speculation in these very threads even before Miko's divine providence made its appearance. We're just suffering through countless months of Mamizou's banana haired adventures to see ZUN's take on why this particular "exception to the rule" is interesting.

I thought that Tojiko stayed around despite not hating Futo anymore due to becoming a hermit, hence her not 'dying'.
    >>
    >>51368839
No, Tojiko didn't become a shikaisen or a hermit. She's dead. She died alongside Futo and Miko, but where those two underwent shikai and resurrected, Tojiko's own process failed due to Futo's meddling. So she became a vengeful spirit instead. Then in modern times, Akyuu writes:
    >her grudge has almost dissipated, and she is turning into an mere lightning-causing ghost. If you take care not to provoke her, there should not be many problems.
    >>
    >>51367100

Only way shit could make sense at this point is if it's Dream Mizuchi going around (LoLK and the floatan games are next on the chopping block so Doremy would be involved) or if Mizuchi had an eviler twin or some shit.
