>>51330748japanese comedy (and a lot of media i guess) is based on convention and tradition. it really does feel like once you've seen one comedy show or movie you've actually seen them all.
>>51330748>>51331026for example i really liked one cut of the dead and highly regard it as one of the best films made in that decade, so what do they do? one cut of the dead 2 in america and it's pretty much the same movie lmao
>>51330954You're missing something.
>muh autism give me superpowers
>>51331244>autism in real life - hard of function social skills, people avoidance, being unaware of space in relationships, oversharing, awkwardness, etc.>austism in jdrama: godsent lawyer who can recall anything they've seen from textbooks, can quote full lines of law shit, just a little quirky and cute and wears sonys aroundkill me

>>51336463It's kinda weird how much Japan loves AI compared to the west
I wanna see Juku.
>>51337045I think they just have this new tech fascination without worrying about the morality and ethics at all. Kind of uncritical. But hey AI is being adopted by people of all ages and nationalities all around the globe.
>>51337403Say something against it and you get called a luddite
>>51337045>>51337403>>51337438the biggest difference between japan and the west is discernment. they've embraced it wholesale while everyone else has varying degrees of when to use it and how much. like in art or film for example. i think about how their directors put so much attention and care into crafting those movies that people still nerd on about like kurosawa, but then you have people just generating shit and they're totally ok with it
>>51337045I think it's hilarious and it also feels like that's exactly what Japanese would do.

Got Amazon Prime free trial. Which Japanese variety shows should I watch on it? Currently watching 'Can you summon 100 friends'. Anything else besides that? Also already watched Documental.
>>>/tv/223860533>>51343954yes
>>51345370Meant Prime video. Almost done with 'Can you summon 100 friends?'. It's good, wish they tried to fuck with the friends/guest more. Still a fun watch seeing everyone's confusion about the whole thing going on.
>>51345399one thing i've learned is that japan's fake autism acting (which we call neurodivergence now) is working off cliches from 20 years ago. they actually toned it down from their version of "the good doctor" but here they spiced it up a bit but you can tell she's a normal person acting like an autismonot impressed, but the japanese audience don't know any better so it works out
>>51345424I think she's mostly just copying the performance from the kdrama.
did anyone watch Romantics Anonymous?
>>51345454yeah. i guess they (japanese and korean) audiences don't really look at the meta-commentary side of it and only view it as a cute quirk in this series because in the kento version, his colleagues and the patients often question if he's really fit to ethically treat patients while having savant syndrome level of autism. then there's the ameko jdrama where it's not as serious to the point where she needs those ANC headphones - she still functions normally, just without tact.i'd personally be a bit worried if my fate is in the hands of a girl who can't get on an elevator by herself or does the weird 'tism shit with her hands or walks like a toddler.
>>51345503oh shit this is the one with shun oguri and the korean actress as his love interest
>>51345516yeah. I enjoyed it.
>>51345521aw shit the koreans are cute. you know what, i'm going to give this one a shot.
i want season 2 of Mori Machi
I’m genuinely worried about the future of Japanese dramas. Instead of investing in their own actors, writers, and original productions, Japanese networks seem increasingly focused on collaborating with Korean companies. Japan has so much talent and potential. I wish its networks would invest more in developing and promoting it internationally.
>>51346254it's a double edge sword. I'm primarily a watcher of kdramas, been watching them for like 15 years, and the only thing international popularity has brought has been worse shows with shiny coat of new paint so no one else really cares as long as they look "modern".
>>51346254>I wish its networks would invest more in developing and promoting it internationally. Why? It means pandering to the West and being less Japanese.
>>51346254TV J-dramas have already been dead since the very beginning of the covid. What we're seeing is the aftermath of multiple events; the BPO's stricter and ever tightening regulations, foreign appeal and influence through the form of compliance, the rise of korean pop culture among women(the target audience of dramas), and the lack of interest in TV because young people just don't watch this ancient medium anymore. For the last point, tv is simply a dinosaur in the landscape of modern entertainment especially since you can just stream everything on your phone. J-dramas have no place on tv and should all move to streaming if they want to create kino like back in the day. At least Wowow productions have been consistently good.
>>51346267 This. Anime has already been compromised
>>51346254It’s the same situation with their idols who act and sing like korean whores or their recent vidya output which fail like FFVII remake. Those boomers behind them can only follow trends instead creating new one.
that's right, streaming is good
>>51346254i was very anti-k-culture in general because i thought they were a soulless copy of what japan perfected. i was very wrong.korea somehow injects their own flavor into this crockpot of japanese+chinese+american style of production and it looks superb. it's just feels so clean and serious. they set a minimum standard for what they put on the screen so while i still feel they're still very by the book, they understand what their viewers want to see.i've more or less given up on new jdramas and instead just watch the 1-3 good movies that comes out every year. maybe an anime here and there.
can i get recommendations for works with cute asian girls happy and in love?

>>51345399I see a lot of people with headphones nowadays, are they all autistic or just follow some FOTM trend? Although the 2 are basically the same.
>>51347466For the last decade, Kmedia has gone for international appeal or American if you will. Pros and cons, I suppose.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81f7GvymT78>Horiken>Kurochan>Ogata>Akiyama>Nishida>Kano EikoI. Will. Watch.
>>51348785the difference between the j-culture boom of the 00s and the current k-wave is that the koreans know how much their stuff is worth. i remember japan had a stranglehold of east asian media with jpop, anime, games and movies and they did pretty much nothing with it. Lisa (from blackpink) just dropped a single on youtube for instance. 24 million views within a few hours. it's going to hit half a million within a month.
>>51349535waiting patiently for medical lupin, FX trader lupin and small business owner of ice cream shop lupin
>>51348782it's a normie trend. headphones and wireless earphones these days have ANC/passive sound insolation so they don't have to talk or interact with other people, and when they have to they also have "transparency mode" where you can hear people without taking your cans or earphones out
>>51348846Seems like a waste of a fun set. Matsumoto is really phoning it in these days, a concept that should've been a single room is now the entire show.
>>51349696CUTE.

hamaguchi's new masterpiece has landed in the net. AFAIK it has french hardsubs and there's only some ai-translated english subtitles tho.
oh shit I just realized it doesn't work in the subtitles because Netflix is dumb and insists on using western style name ordermi na mi da mi na miversusmi na mi mi na mi dawhat an absolute blunder on Netflix's part

Really liked the first episode of Politicalupin, I haven't seen Atsuro Watabe in a while except for Suzuki=Bakudan, so it's nice to know he isn't actually an elderly man on the verge of death.
>>51343954I've noticed an uptick of Japanese shows borrowing plots from Korean ones lately.
>>51351003just saw a show titled Hell Is Other People, only for my brain to realize upon reading the synopsis, that it was the japanese adaption of "Strangers from Hell"
>>51350762it doesn't work in Romaji anyway, minami - imanim
>>51350776meme girl, Japan THOUGH
For nearly 15 years, I followed Kdramas (romance), which used to be incredible, between the OST, the aesthetic, and the romance, everything was perfect.. But since 2020, they’ve become normified, gay and judaized. The romances are as superficial as can be, and the female lead, who used to be consistently cute and shy, has transformed into an insufferable boss bitch , even hypergamous. This is the case in absolutely every K-drama now, so I’ve stopped watching them. They’ve become completely Westernized; what was once content aimed at both men and women is now geared exclusively toward a Western, feminist female roasties audience. So, here’s my question: are J-dramas worth checking out? Since I’m an incel filled with rage, the slightest sex scene drives me absolutely furious; I want a only pure romance
I just saw this on avistaz. The whole 1080p season 1 is like 2GB, is it like one of those chink short dramas or something?
>>51351576>So, here’s my question: are J-dramas worth checking out? It various>Since I’m an incel filled with rage, the slightest sex scene drives me absolutely furious; I want a only pure romanceJust watch high school boy meets girl romances with PG rating.
>>51351576teasing master takagi san (the netflix series) and komi can't communicate (has eliza ikeda) are both adaptations based on material intended for a male audience. and any school romance pretty much like the other anon says, e.g., ao haru ride (has natsuki deguchi)
>>51351576Unronically, watch C-drama.
>>51352015>teasing master takagi sanI hope he likes it and then tries to get into the rest of Imaizumi and finds out all his real movies are about cheating
>>51352054reminds me of the director of "departures" which won the academy award for foreign film back in 2012? you look at the rest of his films and it's rape train, molester gang 2, groper express, just all pink films lmao
>>51351400it does if you go by mora
>>51351576some positives jdrama has is that it somehow feels intrinsically japanese. series made for the japanese by the japanese means that you know they're not selling out to foreign audiences even if they're shooting in paris or mongolia. the japanese slice of life dramas and movies has always been top shelf shit. they combine the beauty of the country, the lifestyle and the people in a nice and neat package. that also means you see less foreigners. a level of japanese purity and sensibility is maintained throughout....but it does feel like it's changing. for example, in fune wo amu they introduced a gay character and devoted an episode for him and his gay rights. alright. then you have sex awareness, autism awareness, koreans, etc. and while these are serious topics, they are just not ready to broach them.
>>51351576Yeah, I used to watch korean cop dramas, because they were surprisingly entertaining. Nowadays, I can't seem to find any worth picking up.Does Japan even do cop shows?
>>51353039pretty much every season. i don't know how much you know about the japanese police, but if you're knowledgeable about them then you'll rolling your eyes at how competent and efficient they are in jdrama.
>>51353060>pretty much every seasonGood to know. I'll go take a closer look.>you'll rolling your eyes at how competent and efficient they are in jdramaI don't really watch these kind of shows for realism. My favorite korean one was called "Voice", where the entire premise was that our star, a dispatcher (but also police woman) has extraordinary hearing that can pick up minute details from an emergency call that normal people wouldn't. It was all very silly, but took itself (mostly) seriously, which made it better.I just want to see some criminals be scum, and for them to get apprehended.
Extraordinary Ace Attorney
Do Jdramas have seasons like anime does?
So, what do you think of pic related? I marathoned the first episode and it seems fun

im watching bl tho
>>51357780No idea what you mean. I replied to that guy multiple times. Kitano is just an old famous guy with very plain and common sense opinions, except when he's actually saying nonsense (very often). I don't care to read what he says on fucking variety TV, but it could be ignored unlike this troll?~20% of this threads' comments are about the autistic lawer.

New drama when?
>>51359237In what way am I giving them a pass?>boohoo vitriolI'm just asking for less spam of this shit, retard.
>>51359420kind of a serous and sensitive question, and i understand if you don't want to answer it but do you have brain damage???for months this thread opened every single day with clips of kitano quotes from his variety show, or when someone asks for movie suggestions it would be outrage, sonatine, kikujiro, etc. and you don't say anything, but when we finally shift topics to one particular actress in one jdrama you lose your shit. it's 1.5 days worth of posts of a new drama. hell, it's not even a tenth of the VIVANT posting we had a few weeks ago. i mean, i'm not even mad. i just think you're a subhuman autist who should stop trying to be the thread police. killing yourself is optional but i suggest you do it.
>>51359453>you lose your shitlmao>stop trying to be the thread policeAren't you doing the same? Suggesting what I should be outraged by, telling me to be consistent or whatever bullshit, when I simply asked where did this shitty spam come, and then to stop doing it.>i mean, i'm not even madI doubt that since you seem to be obsessed by TK getting a pass for whatever retarded reason and seem intent on defending this shitty drama and the ugly girl in it.
>>51359146Hello Suda!
>>51359462>Aren't you doing the same?telling you to stop being a bitch isn't settings the rules on what can or cannot be posted>since you seem to be obsessed by TK getting a passagain, no. see, i like kitano and i like the TK-anon so when someone asks for suggestions and he hamfists a kitano movie in, i chuckle because i know it's coming even if it's not what the original anon wanted. the difference is that when this anon posts screencaps of a currently airing drama you suddenly think it's spam. it's not.
stop fighting
don't worry I'm used to it we have morons like that that freak out in the korean drama general any time I post park bo young. they like to pretend they're being objective or some such nonsense but they only ever freak out when it's certain actresses.

>>51359496>>51359504>>51359522So I finally get the answer to this question>What causes a man to wake up one day and start shilling a mediocre actress with average looks? It was just your typical /tv/ mental illness.
>>51359537you're a self-hating incel and i don't think this should be our problem. i'm just here for jdrama and jmovie talk, not freaking out about made up /crossboard/ wars.

>>51329941The ending to OP was so weird, not "the pay and treat your crews better" speech that's like whatever, but the final episode being whole play that is a 1:1 of what happened to him.Felt odd to end a humbled narcissist arc with him doing a theater piece all about himself. At least fictionalize some of it.

I'm not a big fan of high school jdoramas, mainly because the actors are often in their 20s but are made up to look younger - why are they so popular? Is it because people miss their high school days and want to relive them through a drama?
>>51366153When was the last big high school drama? People who want to see upcoming talents as the students or fans of the actor playing the teacher(s) may watch it

https://news.livedoor.com/article/detail/32702320/Mackenyu is now using his real clan name Maeda instead of a manga character.
>>51369346He should have done it from the start but it was probably his former agent who chose it He used Mackenyu at first and he could have switched to 真剣佑 instead of alphabet. Some models turned actors switch to a proper name when they want to be taken seriously, like Iura Arata used ARATA for years, he probably thought it was corny when he got older. Koyuki kept using her modeling name but she's a woman and not as active anymore.
>>51369346>>51369378he did it because he was looking to doubletime hollywood and japanese tv, but it turns out that in current times people are totally okay with remembering your full name no matter how difficult it is
