Flag related.If life is super comfy (at least relatively compared to everyone else around you), then its very easy for the gov of that country to tell its youth that they must defend this comfort with your life and look down on people who are not as comfortable as you, else we'll end up like the uncomfortable poors around us.And surprisingly, this works very well.People only hate elitism if they're on the receiving end of it.But being on the other end of elitism is actually very soothing to the human ego. So much so that even foreigners who are just given permanent citizenship actually hate their "inferior" home country even more than the native local.
