What is it?

raw pork
>>
>>225902064
mettbrotchen or just mett. its a german dish where they spread raw pork on bread. I think its sketchy
>>
>raw pork made according to stringent german food safety standards by a certified aryan uberman
:|
>raw fish from dirty and polluted radioactive japanese waters fished by a barely-literate takeshi
:O

Yes
>>
It's beyond me how the rest of the world still hasn't figured out that they should wash their hands before prepping food
>>
>>225902111
yeah, its good. But i feel like its risky to eat. Pork is really tasty if you've never had it. But eating raw pork can give you roundworms. I would only eat it in a country where they make it all the time. I don't trust american meat to be good enough to enjoy raw

Isn't this just German equivalent of tartare or carpaccio?
Granted it seems kind of boring in comparison. Tartare looks a lot more tasty.

probably not as good as filet americain thoughbeit
>>
>>225902146
It's not that they have magic super high quality pigs that never get parasites. Legally, the pork sold for mett has to meet extremely strict inspection guidelines and must sold within 24 hours of processing. And you still shouldn't eat it if you're above or below certain ages or pregnant. It's the equivalent of, you can buy any raw salmon and make sashimi but it's a huge risk. Sashimi grade salmon has been inspected and processed differently it's the only difference. If we had a market for mett here you could buy it at Food Lion.
>>
>>225901925
It looks delicious but sadly, my religion prevents me from trying it.

Is that what the French call burger patties?

I've eaten Mett all my life and haven't had a single case of food poisoning or parasites.

no it's a meat paste with spices added to it. it's breddy good.

I wouldn't either, if I lived in a third world country.

>>225902392
Which spices? Looks bretty good
>>
mettwurst (meetvusti) > mett
>>
>>225902221
Yes, tartare is even better, the beef. You can tell mett is kind of bland by itself because its always served seasoned
>>
>>225902265
ugh, that reminds me when i was a fishmonger. I sold fish to people all the time and i knew they were gonna make sushi out of it. but it wasnt sushi grade. i guess they were fine, they kept coming back.

>I wouldn't either, if I lived in a third world country.
I wouldn't even if the pig was raised by me, had more vaccines than me and took showers more often than me.
I prefer pic related (it's cow though), it's sealed, it's heated to hell and back when they make it, it oxidizes fast once it's open so it's impossible for you to not eat it before it goes bad and it already is seasoned and ready to be spread on bread
>>
>>225902413
I have no idea but they taste great.
Though ideally you should order this in a nice Belgian or French restaurant where it's freshly made for you from fresh cuts of beef. Much better than mussels imo.

You probably shouldn't eat the stuff from the supermarket though cause you don't know about the quality of the meat they use.
Butcher's is better, restaurant better still.

If its a good cut of meat it doesn't need any. ofc i season my chicken and pork too, but i can enjoy beef steak even without salt and pepper if its cooked right
>>
>>225902460
Mett usually only has salt and pepper in it, this stuff
>>225902392
Is basically just liquified sausage and you can even buy it here.
>>
>>225902567
You're comparing cooked beef to uncooked pork, attributing the difference in taste to the cut rather than the method of preparation.
Venison beats both btw

Firsties used to be defenders of safety standards, now they will eat raw fish, raw meat and raw milk to disastrous results just to own the libs o algo.
Truly sad

Raw meat is delicious. In Japan, because some idiotic restaurant caused people to die, we can no longer even eat raw beef. About the only meat we can still eat raw is horse meat. I envy you guys.
>>
>>225902752
There have been 19 reports of trichine worms found in Germany and they all were in wild boars not in domestic pigs last year.
And i dont know of anybody actually got sick

Do you have something similar in Turkey? I know in Lebanon they make something called kibbe naye which isn't too different, except for the type of meat.
>>

heard the same thing about raw fish in Japan and I had to live on the toilet for the next 5 days. Never trying any kind of raw meat ever again.

True but beef mettwürste are far less common. And the Mett you get from a butcher is nearly always pork.
>>225909321
No, it's pork.
>>225909442
Mett = pork
Steak tartare = beef

>>
>>225901925
How on earth is that thing safe to eat? Even if the pig was slaughtered the same day can still have trichinosis.

Perhaps a slight cultural & regional difference. I'm from the Rhineland and here all Mettwürste are soft and made from pork. On the other hand my aunt (who lives near Lake Constance) doesn't like those soft sausages and said that in her region practically all sausages are hard.
>>225909895
The pigs that are designated for slaughter in order to get processed into foodstuffs (not just for Mett) undergo a mandatory Trichinella screening.
>>
>>225910292
actually, i now wanna buy beef mettwurst in spar because of this thread before it's closed (stores on saturday are closed at 6pm in germanic countries) but it's so cold outside and i was already cycling for 2 hours in the cold and feel dead.
