You often say that Japan hates piracy. However, Japanese people have zero intention of taking anything for free from your country. That's just unfair.

Sweden is pro-piracy. Always has been.
So feel free to pirate Swedish media. It makes us happy.

I bought satisfactory and DRG and helldivers and other swedish games. I like swedish games. I did pirate swedish music though. I liked looptroop rockers when I was in highschool, not so much now.

Pretty much all our popular new games come from the same town of Skövde kek. We have a "Walk Of Game".

oh I guess I bought v rising too. But I did pirate multiplayer cracked raft so I'm doing my part! I'm going to guess Skovde has or had a lot of cheap office space about 10 years ago?

You'd think but no, the reason is a school and uni program dedicated to video game creating that was one of/the first in the country after the IT program was losing popularity. Here's an article about it and how insanely effective it was.

Skövde is also very cheap to rent in, so it's both things.

I proudly support the swedish game industry. Except paradox. I give my money reluctantly.

Also Swedish social safety net is believed to be a factor in startup culture here. You can fiddle with your company or project and even if it turns 0 profit, you will be guaranteed food and housing. So some people become NEETs on paper while trying to develop something that will eventually take off.

And capital markets here are disproportionally large, so there's is plenty of funding if something does take off.

If you give the game away for free, how do you make money to keep the company running and make your next game? You need money to keep the company going and develop new games, right?

Most people will buy if the price is reasonable and the quality is good. Piracy is practically free marketing.

I think pirated versions of anime and manga are totally fine. The reason anime and manga became so popular in Japan in the first place is that they are cheap and can be accessed for free. Overseas, however, a single volume is way too expensive.
If we ignore greedy rightsholders and let people enjoy the content for free, both the creators and their work get discovered. Once a fanbase forms, the creators end up making money in the long run anyway. That's why I actually root for anime and manga pirates to keep going.
However, video games are a different story. Games don't make any money in the first place unless people actually buy them.
Because of that, I believe what should be tolerated and what shouldn't varies by genre.

I agree about the manga/anime, but the same is true for games. Games are quite expensive as well, the same argument holds for anime/manga as for games. Most pirates did not choose piracy instead of purchase, they chose piracy because they were never going to purchase. But if they like the game enough, they might purchase later when they have more money, or just to support the developer. And they'll tell their friends if the game is good, leafing to word of mouth sales.

Most people in Japan don't know Swedish games because they aren't free. Please make them free!
