why do unitedstatians call chicken burgers chicken sandwiches?
>>
>>225864863
‘Burger’ comes from Hamburger Steak which refers to ground beef. This led to the Hamburger Sandwhich which is now just called burger. Since burger refers to the meat, people hear find it odd to refer to a sandwich made from chicken breast as a burger.

because a burger is a ground beef patty
if anyone called a chicken sandwich a chicken burger in front of me i would beat them into a coma

I didnt say people who called it a chicken burger is wrong, just saying why it’s called chicken sandwich in USA. Many People would think you meant a ground chicken patty on a bun if you said chicken burger.

>order a burger
>get served this because burger = ground beef patty
would that make any sort of sense to you? language purists are mentally ill

If the chicken is minced it should be called a chicken burger (but still isn't here, we say turkey burger but always chicken sandwich).
If the chicken is a piece of chicken you don't call it a chicken burger for the same reason you don't call steak between bread a steak burger or beef burger.
Mincing the meat, cooking it as a single lump per portion, and placing it on bread, usually a bun, is what makes it a burger.

If it’s minced. Lamb and turkey burgers aren’t uncommon

This is one of those things where we definitely are right and the rest of the world is wrong lol. Every time I hear "chicken burger" and it's just a chicken breast on a bun I want to kick something.

ESLs and other third world peons define a burger as just any shit on a round bun which is so galactically retarded.

Burger is ground/minced meat. So theoretical ground chicken on a bun could be a "chicken burger" but not just chicken. That's just a fucking sandwich
