It's alright but 10 gorillion calories, borderline candy
>>
>sugary bread with sugary jam and sugary peanut butter
>they eat this every day for lunch
this is why they are so fat
>>
>>225862123
its a cheap and easy to make snack, not some gourmet meal
>>
>>225862123
With all due respect, which isn't much, beans on toast is better than PB&J. And they're both pretty average and benign food preparations.
Also both quite indicative of their cultures and manage to represent their culinary characteristics quite well.

beans on toast has no regard for appearances, dietary balance, texture or flavor profile. It just tastes okay and is some ingredients you can eat in a pile.
Meanwhile PB&J is an ill fitted mixture of fat and sugar that exists to clog arteries for no discernible reason since by flavor it's a mess and it's almost deliberately insulting to any dietary balance whatsoever. But it looks fine.
>>
>>225862123
>why come people like yummy food??
Just try it and you will understand.
>>
>>225862123
Get natural peanut butter with no extra ingredients, the type you have to stir, like Teddie.
If you're not a total bitch, get unsalted super chunky, only ingredient is peanuts.
Then you want wheat bread and strawberry preserves specifically.
You put a little less preserves than peanut butter, maybe one third less.
Tortilla chips on the side and a tall glass of half fat milk as a palette cleanser.
Then you go back in time to when my mom was alive and talk to her about her geraniums while eating it.
>>
>>225862123
It's good though. Much more so if the bread is toasted sourdough so it is a bit chewy.
>>
>>225862123
Because they are fat
>>
For me, it's pb and banana sandwiches
>>
>>225862794
That's fucking RIGHT
>>
>>225862794
Only problem is they don't keep well, can't bring them to work
Otherwise they are slightly superior to pb&j while also healthier
>>
>>225862868
>Bacon
>Banana
>Peanut butter
>Jam
>Fry in plenty of butter until the outside is crispy
>Drizzle with maple syrup to finish
How popular is the Elvis sandwich these days?
Is it something only a select few still enjoy eating?
>>
You're genuinely a pretentious fag or woman if you look down on a PB&J.
>b-but mu calories and sugar
Everyone has at least one vice. Like god damn bro, let a nigga enjoy a donut or something without bitching about how bad it is.
>>
>>225863302
You will never see it outside of a YouTube video
Also maple syrup is even more expensive now everyone is reduced to corn syrup even on pancakes
>>

There is no way to make this “dish” healthy even with “natural” ingredients
It’s only protein source is from the bread and the super caloric peanut butter
A sandwich itself is already unhealthy too, since you’re mashing two pieces of bread together and eating it super fast. Even with natural ingredients you’re eating 500-700 calories of mostly carbs and fat in about 5 minutes. I don’t think I’ve bought peanut butter in around 3 years purely because of how caloric it is

I want to try an Elvis sandwich, Chicago-style pizza, and Texas BBQ in their places of origin at least once before I die.
I hope these traditions are still around by the time I go to the U.S....

Based, also with honey
>>
>>225863546
It isn't health food and my recommendations were for proper flavor
>>
>>225863547
I hear Texas bbq is good
Chicago deep dish is just okay I think, I love cheese but at some point it becomes more of a choking hazard than enjoyable
I think you might need to go to a special themed restaurant for the Elvis sandwich, I've never known it to be common anywhere
If you do come here you should try a proper pecan pie too, not a store one that's just mainly a corn syrup caramel pie but a good slice of one from a diner.
>>
>>225862123
You mean toast cardboard bread, american cheeselike product, or both, fried on a pan?
>>
>>225863635
Okkk understood, I’ll try this out on a proper cheat day, thank you

Why are Slovenian posters always so smug and verbose? Every single time I see your flag it's the exact same writing style. I'd suspect AI bots, but you've been like this for decades. I have a theory that all Slovenian posters on this site are actually the same hyperautistic guy who lurks 24/7. Are you?
>>
>>225863863
Ahh and also hope your mom is in a better place bro, definitely a nostalgia childhood food for many
>>
>>225863699
I didn't realize the Elvis Sandwich wasn't that popular; I'll probably have to be pretty careful when looking for a restaurant.

>A real pecan pie
I'd heard the name before, but I'd never really paid it any mind.
Still, when locals say, “There are real ones and fake ones,” I'm sure the real ones are definitely delicious.
Thanks for letting me know.
>>
>>225863999
No problem, and yeah I'm pretty sure we all heard about it the same time as everyone else online, it's pretty unique to The King. Sure some Elvis themed diners would serve it though.
>>
>>225863863
Yeah it's pretty good with the right ingredients
>>
I used to eat PB&J everyday for lunch to save money. I would always be hungry even though my stomach was getting bigger. Years later I found out it was because there's very little nutritional value lol. I would have been better off eating McDonald's every day.

>Get natural peanut butter with no extra ingredients
Those peanut butters with an emulsifier to make it consistent are a crime. IDK what the US equivalent would be, probably something like Jif creamy. Yuck. Peanut butter should be oily.
>>
>>225862350
this and it unironically tastes good too bad it's not popular at all here
>>
>>225864880
Most brands are like that here
Their "natural" variety just stabilizes with palm oil/solids but their main variety also adds some corn syrup to make it taste sweet on its own
The emulsified version is alright I guess, I buy it on sale, but it's a bit like eating glue. Not really worth saving the time stirring.

Grilled cheese for people who want diabetes
>>
>>225862123
Personally not a fan of jelly but I find it strange that peanut butter isn't more popular globally.
It is very nutritious if you don't buy the shitty kinds and it lasts forever in the pantry. Great hiking food, great on toast and excellent for cooking desserts.
>>
>>225862123
I don't understand it either. It isn't bad, but it doesn't work as a combination. The jam completely overpowers the peanut butter so all you can taste is jam, and a fruity flavour doesn't even go with a salty one anyway. Chocolate spread or honey goes much better with peanut butter because the flavours don't completely overpower it.
>>
>>225865319
>>225862794
This is based though, banana does go really well with peanut butter.

It's better with a mashed banana instead of jam

Europoors eat muesli, which is pb&j sandwich in a different form

this is another thing that only americacas and americanised subhumans eat so idk what point you're trying to make.

You use less jam and more peanut butter, and then it doesn't overpower it
Most gaijin complaints about it tend to boil down to assuming it must be 50/50

I know it bruises your ego but our cultural products are made primary for ourselves to recognize and enjoy, and Europe doesn't even generally constitute a secondary market - "international" is the secondary market for our entertainment industries. It's not a psyop, advertisement capitalist plot, our parents just make it for us sometimes.

What the fuck do you think "shilling" means, dipshit? Do you watch a lot of movies where the actors turn to the camera and tell the audience to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Who would be behind something like that? Big Peanut Butter? The jelly lobby? The Breadburgs? Please go to the nearest airport, get on a plane to the USA, and suck the shit out of my asshole. I'll buy your ticket. You can stay at my place.
