The wall painting behind her is one of the very first environmental paintings.Sure you had enviroments in art before but they were used as backgrounds for a scene or characters. It is in the first century where we start seeing environments for their own sake.During this period, it seem like paintings of country life, depicted as simple and peaceful, were popular among the wealthy, urban citizens of the Roman Empire. These paintings never seem to represent real places and because the rules of prespective had not yet been decoded, artists focused on portraying the various elements like shrines, houses, bridges etc in their most recognizable form as opossed to aiming at realism, which was a very Egyptian way of approaching things.
