Crazy to think that if they were more christian and did LARP as their ancient heritage i.e Rome, Pontus, Vandals, etc they would be much more accepted in Europe. Hell they'd be in the EU probably in this alternative universe.

that wasn't minted in turkey
>>
>>225858800
It was. The portrait was made by an Italian who were brought here under the orders of Mehmed the Conqueror who was really into European art

this would only happen if Arabs somehow never expanded west. If that never happened, history might look unrecognizable. there might not be a coherent pan european identity. maybe the Mediterranean would be more integrated, but northern Europe might become more distant instead.

I think because Rome is associated with Christianity, and all those people have been completely Islamized.

While Westerners autistically focus on the early imperial period as being "proper" Rome and reject everything that came after, the Muslims tend to see Rome in its entirety (Muslims consider the "Byzantine Empire" to be Rome) and understand how deeply Christian it was (something that Christians forgot even though later LARPs like the HRE were specifically in imitation of Rome being the champion of Christ, and Franks believed they had replaced the Romans as the new chosen people).
Many of these places weren't as romanized as others. In Africa people were part of Rome but didn't consider themselves nor were considered to be Roman. Egyptians for example still had a distinct identity. Syrians had become very romanized, and Anatolia was actually the center of Roman culture since the 4th century, but Syrians after the Arab conquest completely arabized themselves, and Anatolia was conquered by the Turks and completely turkicized.

I don't think Europe as a concept would even come to be in the first place. People forget that Europe was merely a geographic notion before Western christians who covered most of the continent started using it as a synonym for their own civilization in the late medieval period. Europe is just the West materialized, put on a map.

>While Westerners autistically focus on the early imperial period as being "proper" Rome and reject everything that came after
because the west is derived from that imperial portion of rome, not the byzantine part, which belongs to essentially a different civilisation

Glorification of rome was a med psy op to gaslight northern europeans since meds were being left behind during the industrial revolution and the enlightment. Greek/Rome were presented as the first democracies (in fact they were fundamentalists & only a few rich people & warlords made the policies). Some northern europeans also were involved in the psyop since northern europe was a barren cultural wasteland before the enlightment so to give historical validity to the newly nation states, they had to claim they had something to do with romans

The psy op was so succesful that even the nazi apparatus which presented itself tried to copy Rome and forced Germany into an alliance with Italy (which was quite a disaster)

To this day northern europeans have to carry on their shoulder the meds due to some mythology created during the enlightment

>In Africa people were part of Rome but didn't consider themselves nor were considered to be Roman
the Africans that were part of Rome were romanized and did consider themselves Romans
the Africans that were not part of the Roman empire (i.e the majority of the population) did not consider itself roman, and was usually hostile to Rome

More accurately, it's because a bunch of Renaissance chuds dismissed their period and everything that led to it as the Dark Ages. The Carolingian Empire and HRE identified as the successors of Western Rome.
