No, they take you to court and garnish your wages and get the authority to send their own crews out to mow your lawn or paint your house the allowed color. They only send cops if you're doing something really heinous like smoking weed. Even if it's legal under state laws it can still be illegal under city ordinance or the HOA code. Which is exactly the same rules apartment buildings operate under. If the landlord says you can't smoke weed and you do, he'll have the police remove you and trespass you from your own apartment. HOAs are the same but with a mortgage.This is done to keep blacks out and it is *very* effective.

This works great until the water runs out, which sometimes happens in the desert. Then people are simply fucked until they buy water and have it delivered from a water truck. The same for flooding and broken sewers. If the sewers clog and flood the streets, getting shit all over the floor of your car and your home (likely just a cheap 2" slab foundation), you cannot call for help because only the HOA is allowed to do that. So if the HOA guy responsible for it is on vacation or in his home country or an alcoholic, you sit in poo until enough damage is done where you are forced to file a home insurance claim which reduces your credit score. Which is why all smart people put their doublewides up on a proper 4' foundation.It beats living alone and dealing with a septic tank and water problems yourself but people get snooty by avoiding city taxes, only for them to get fucked later. And prior to cell phones, this applied to phone service too except that if the HOA got the local phone operator mad at them they could be legitimately cut off no phone hookups. Though this really only applies to trailer park HOAs or similar trailer-based communities. There's a reason why truckers like their radios.
