Should we go back, in your cunt?
>>225850115i was planning on seeing the milky way for the first time this summer, but my chronic disease flared up :(
>>225850115It doesn't look like that even in the lowest light pollution zones. It looks like that on the photos only.
>>225850115First worlders genuinely believe this
>>225850125
>>225850115yes. industrial revoulution was a mistake and the luddites were right.
>>225850335Lolno, even in my Bortle 3 area the milky way looks insane to the naked eye, True Bortle 1 would be incredible to see.
>>225851085I don't think I've seen anything but 8/9 in the past 25 years.
>>225851110Grim
>>225851110How can that be? Not even a 7? You live in a country with a small population density, do you never leave your city?>>225851085Cameras can have very large exposure times, the human eye simply can't compete with that.
>>225850115no I need my bing-bing wahoo fuck magic and mystery
white ppl caused this
>>225850115it still looks like that in my cunt doe
>>225851085>tfw live rural and in 3/4 area>tfw 30min drive from the mountains where it's 1
>>225851085I live in a 4-5 area but the best I can get these days is 7 when going for a night walk innawoods. It used to be 4-5 back in the 90s in the same area. The surroundings haven't been developed that much, but existing infrastructure has gotten much brighter in the LED era. Nowadays I can see parts of distant horizon faintly glowing with city lights from beyond horizon, and I think highway lights also contribute to local light pollution.
>>225851335I doubt a transition like that can happen so fast.
>>225851378This region is sparsely populated and mountainous. I live in a small valley region wedged between the pacific coastal range and the cascade mountain range. There is already very little light pollution here.
>>225851085Here rural is 6, maybe 5
>>225851242Extreme cope from someone on a light polluted tiny island, on a clear night the Milky Way here is extremely vivid with a red tinge, being hours away from the nearest city helps a lot
>>225851335Bortle 1 conditions are about a 40km drive north from my house, unfortunately it's all via a bumpy remote dirt track and I need to wait to get my 4WD fixed, I'm not going all that way out there without my telescope or a vehicle that won't get bogged in the sand
>>225851451Can you find a spot in the map where the gradient is so steep? https://www.lightpollutionmap.info/>>225851538My point is not that, I'm saying that you are not going to get the same image with your eyes everything else being equal, the camera is always going to produce something more spectacular.
>>225851598And I'm saying that you can literally see 3/4 on >>225851085 with the naked eye under perfect conditions assuming you don't have shit eyes
https://youtu.be/ebOgSq_YJUwThis is the view of the night sky from ISS, this is probably the best representation unlike these colorful photos. The galaxies look like smudges of faint light, almost like some clouds. Not that colorful at least to the human eye.
>>225851598>https://www.lightpollutionmap.info/lol wtfFinland has a light pollution blob worse than any big european city in the middle of nowhere south of Vaasa?
>>225851698>saar this internet video is what the sky looks like trust me there is no bloody colours
>>225851741Mining and industrial ports probably.
>>225851910It's neither. As far as I can tell there's nothing special about the region. The huge blob of light is centered on Närpiö, a small municipality of less than 10k people. Its industry is focused on greenhouse cultivation. Must be world's best lit greenhouses.
>>225850115That view has been non-existent here for decades.
>>225855835SpaceX>do everything humanly possible to minimize the albedo of your sat constellations from earthReflect Orbital>ebin mirrors :DDDDDDDD
>>225851242You need the camera to rotate to counter earth's rotation, otherwise you'll get a bunch of arcs. As of late a new kind of equipment has become available as an all in one package....
>>225850115>>225851085>>225850125>>225851296>>225851747Anyone know what it would be like to see the Northern lights and Bortle 1 Milky Way together while candy tripping your ass off? Like imagine seeing that through psychidelic goggles. That's on my bucket list.
>>225856029>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reflect_OrbitalI don't want to live on this planet anymore.
>dude we should just throw away modern medicine, electricity and everything because nice minecraft skybox XDHoly reddit
>>225851085This is what they took from you
Nothing I haven't seen in Skyrim night sky and even there it gets boring fast.
>>225850115back to the Dark Ages? Isn't that where we are headed anyway? The clearest future for this planet is a methane-atmosphere Borg planet.
>>225850115thread themehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPgZFgOvJDE&list=RDVPgZFgOvJDE&start_radio=1
>>225851698why does it turn bright blue as it turns toward the sun? there is no atmosphere at that elevation.
>>225851085Man, The most I've seen is 6, I wish I could see at least a 3 or lower.
I saw it for the first time about ten years ago. I wasn't even looking for it, I was just out hiking in a remote place and got back to the car after dark when I looked up. I was frozen in awe and wonder. It's amazing.
>>225858350Somewhere between 7 and 6 for me
>>225858296Same reason the image was constantly hue-shifting before that.Same reason it turned red when filming another sunrise.
I've seen the sky from the middle of the south Pacific It doesn't show up as amazing as it does in pics but it is super cool. There have been a lot of improvements in light pollution in Europe but it's still pretty dreadful here, which is extra annoying because there's mush more solar activity, so seeing the northern lights would be common
>>225851085All my life I’ve never seen a bortle 4 and lower
>>225857844rds
>>225850115But then you won't have YouTube to listen to Silent Hill ost on...
>>225850115Electric vehicles and green energy will solve this but not in my lifetime :(
